Ive got some cheap extended ones for 15mm spacers if you want to cut them down to whatever.
-
What software are you using the scan it? OBD2 port under the dash i assume?. If i was doing it id clean the MAF, probably the throttle body and ICV, smoke test for vacuum leaks and put back on an airbox

Interesting to see what it goes for. E21 323i's were a ~2k car for what seemed like ages and not sort after. I guess the appeal is its not an E30 and cheaper to buy maybe?.

Paint and bumpers look rough as, must of been a hard 161,000km -
Yeah that's pretty much me the first time - 1.5 day of no energy then mostly fine. This time (if it was covid) was flu symptoms for nearly 1 week, the first 3 days being the worst. Now after 2 weeks still feel like i have impaired lungs.

Mike who used to be a member on here maybe another option too - https://www.facebook.com/soarersurgeon/ I know he repairs other stuff

Is This Where The E30 Market Is Now..?
Eagle replied to E30 325i Rag-Top's topic in TradeMe discussions
I dont see anyone buying it for 40k either but at least there is some merit to the pricing, not your typical buy\hold\sell or heavily aesthetics bias owners like most of these overpriced listings. Unless he's failed to mention it im surprised he didnt do the subframe\trailing arm bushings and adjusters, go to be the most under rated E30 mod ever. -
Indeed. By my rough calculations you are looking around $700 incl shipping for front struts, rear shocks with bump stops\boots and mounts. Not too bad if you can do the work yourself. If you start adding suspension arms, links, bushings etc then it usually ramps up cost to varying degrees depending on the vehicle.

If they are the original units then they are certainly worn. Front gets worked harder than the rear and usually degrades faster.

"We have owned this BMW 325i for about 3 years now" "I promised myself that we would never sell it but our loss and someone's gain" Is the loss attempting to make 300% profit on it -
Sachs are €51 each and Bilstein are €37 each excl shipping from Spareto. You really need to replace the fronts at the same time if they havent been done before otherwise its going to feel real sloppy.

Looks much better than the original version. What did it cost?

Which shocks are you referring to?

Looks aside the E46 being more simple and generally cheaper to keep on the road is why id choose it (assuming both are in similar condition). 2004 will have the 'best' subframe floor version too. I know the in UK they have rust issues but the odds of that here are surely slim. -
It appears Sachs dont make an specific aftermarket msport version as far as i can tell. Aftermarket Sachs do some weird chopping and changing sometimes, once size fits all types deals included (maybe why E90 are coming up since they share a similar rear design) I can only see 2 types of Sachs - 'Standard' and 'Sport suspension' versions. Sachs 310 987 appears to be the sport version Bilstein B4 are typically made with standard and sport versions also. 19-144238 appears to be the B4 sport version. B6's and B8's are their upgraded units over Sachs, B4's etc really generally used for lowered cars. I dont know about the E8X cars but older models sport vs m-suspension was usually a little lower, firmer with bigger sway bars. The sport shocks will work fine regardless, I doubt you would notice any difference putting the sport versions on coming from worn shocks. If you are really fussy you can go genuine BMW Sachs at some crazy price no doubt.

Used the similar spec silver on grey car as a donor for my E39 manual conversion, that wasn't appealing for me but id rock this colour combo. I'd buy it if someone wants to drive it up

What the labor cost to install a transmission in one of these? Suppose gambling with a used unit is 1\2 the price of a rebuild? -

No doubt other little bits and pieces but yeah. In saying that i dont have a clue about E30 prices these days and everything seems expensive to me. -
Had a cert too. I'd say it's a 10-12k in this market. If it had a chuck of work done maybe you could ask 15k, but it's likely on tired suspension etc.
-
Seems like something that would be cheaper on ebay especially shipping costs.
-
Funnily enough that what my initial thought was but i had to poke fun at the N42 instead. I wouldnt run 98 either but if its anything like my compact then you need 95 min to get performance, may not even be relevant with Auckland traffic though.
-
Must really hate the N42 eh. I remember having to put 91 in a M54B30 once because no premium, turned it into a B25.
-
Haha yep. Amazing what EFI can compensate for. Carburetors just sh*t the bed if anything is off. Not sure if he is still in business but Bertz customs in the UK appears to be the best price vs quality ones i ever saw They were about ~1500NZD for memory + shipping. Every NZ new or UK import BMW ive owned looked like this, asian ones werent bad per se but generally never as good (much darker).

Ive got a cloth sport ones in my E36 that isnt as bad as my leather ones but its still not that great. New bolsters may help, most seats have been quashed\foam has failed to some extend. Ive never had an issue with E39 ones, but @hunter redid his alcantara ones and they are noticeably more comfortable and support much better than worn stuff thats around. Yeah need a cert for seats (seat belt anchor point changed iirc). There are bases that use a modified stock\base rail (Brey-Krause) but they are cheap and not sure if they would need to be certed or not. I just take my out for the WOF since its easy in a coupe. Current one me close to 1k seat+base which is fairly cheap considering what @Harper and others have spent. I dont care about passenger one so it made it much cheaper I think the genuine E46 base\rails for Recaro seats are hard to find now, the place in Japan i got them from delisted the drivers ones ordered it. NZKW do their generic E36\E46 one and im sure there are other around. Its a bit of mission finding and figuring out what you want and not usually cheap, but once you find the right seat its like your favourite pair of pants etc.
