I've wanted to post about this for over a week now but didn't want to put it out there that this car was avaliable for tender. So I've been very impatiently waiting for the tender process to finish. lol Over 2 years of searching and I had given up hope and was in the process of buying a wrecked 750il so I could build my dream car. A E38 750i I found my donor car on a Turners wrecked/end of life car auction.A 98 750il with bad frontal damage. Then I thought I'd have a look at what other BMW's they had up for auction and OMG, guess what I found. My dream car. The elusive 750i. Considering that between 1998 and 2001 there were only 1032 750i's produced I really never thought I'd find one in NZ. So today it was confirmed I was the winning tender so I can shout out to everyone about my new toy. I now have to be even more patient as the cars in Hamilton and I'm not. Have to wait till my next days off work which isn't till next Wed. So so far away. I dont have pic's at the moment but can post up the Turners listing. The car doesn't run and has the ugliest interrior color I've seen. lol.. The motor was running when taken there. They just cant start it now so I'm not too concerned. And I can always change the interior to a more suitable color..ha ha. https://www.turners.co.nz/Cars/Search/BMW/750i/13961577/ I'll take some pics when I pick it up and edit this post then. I'm also going to start a thread in the projects section for those interested and to keep a record for myself of the work that will be done. First up will no doubt be to get it running. Then a thorough grooming will be in store. After that I think it'll be new suspension all round. It's sitting stock at the moment so I'll definately want it a bit lower at the front. Oh. Not to forget the interior color change. That blue will do my head in..lol

I knew a guy that did that, he was covinced his E36 had been repowered with an M3 engine because the motor serial was M25... he'd open the bonnet like it was some great secret, and almost whisper while pointing out the M.... i was like actually bro...

Oh yeah... Looks like he went on an M Badge spree, shame he's done it on a straight nice bodied e36

Why is it that people make sending a message a mission. With the private messages why is it necessary to show all previous messages. I haven't got a bloody clue where to put new text. It used to be simple where you typed into a text box and pushed send. Now someone has made it difficult. I don't want to see all the previous messages in one bloody screen. I talk to heaps of people on Gmail, xtra etc who say the same thing. I and they can't find previous emails, things disappear etc. Keep it simple and if you are going to make an "IMPROVEMENT" make sure it improves things and doesn't turn it into a bloody mess. Rant over and out.

There is nothing better than finding the car you really wanted. That story you can tell for the rest of your life and it will put a smile on your face every time. I think the E38 is probably the most handsome of all the modern bmw's. The interiors I think are some of the best I have ever seen from the factory as well. I am sure you will do something fitting for the V12. Check this out!

Brilliant, hope he does a few more. If he comes to Auckland he will probably coprolalia himself inside out!!!

Well done Dave. I thought, how could an E38 have ugly interior? You're not wrong though - that is pretty horrendous! I'm sure Brent might have a full E38 interior in other colours so he could be a good source there. Big job but so is most car work!

I imagine seats wouldnt be too much of a problem but its the other parts like console etc that might be harder to find. is there any way to get it refabricated or dyed black somehow? i would think black interior would look much better on a silver car than tan which looks good on black or green cars IMO.

Easy, try a TIG welder, grind tungsten to a fine fine point, at a 22 degree angle at 1amp or less touch screw with this and do a dud start . Tungsten will be welded on, then twist out. This method is guaranteed to work every time, 60% of the time.

you can get +50hp by getting a msport badge. OR if you upgrade your 135i badge to 1M then expect around 100-120hp gains. no lies. edit: $10 on trademe. save $990. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/bmw/accessories/auction-879754120.htm

Would recommend you get a walnut blast done before any mods/tuning (http://blog.modbargains.com/get-nuts-feed-bmw-n55-walnuts-get-clean-tune/) Used the Hi-Velocity and Torque Peformance dyno without any issues , had issues with the dyno at MCR +100HP on my 98 Map +140HP on my E50+ map But my 335i is FBO (full bolt on) - Tune, Intercooler, downpipes, intake, exhaust, misfire's are the common issue once power etc has been dialled up - would check on spark plugs life etc (I just replaced them all before the tune/mods)

$1000 for 50hp is about as good bang for buck as your going to find

but people dont, so you need to resort to have a rule or their are no rules. Anyways it doesnt matter cause akl/wlg motorway driving isnt going to change so no point getting angry about it ... just sit in the traffic and take it.

Great looking car, have seen your auction on TM. Having just spent some time sourcing a '91 E31 850i, I think you will lucky to get your asking price, I'm afraid. Most of the 850s for sale over $15K have stayed for sale - even those with the more desirable M73 engine - regardless of condition. I think people are just scared off by the perceived (and real) cost of owning when at a time when the cost of living is so high. To put it into perspective, a '93 850i with full motorsport kit and only 55K kms on the clock sold was listed at only $15.5K by a dealer (although it was LHD). It did sell. Hope you prove me wrong and get what you want for it. If not... Can I have your interior please?
