3 pointsNice one Neal. Its gotta be awesome. I have been doing what I do for 19 years this year and am about to quit for a change in career so your post is inspirational. I am sh*t scared to be honest... but excited I will be able to work with cars in some way.

3 pointsYes, I too smell a ruse.. very cunning. It's an NZ new car, so it can't be rusty... everybody knows that ONLY UK imports get rust .

2 pointsI had the best part of a month to think it through during the "three interview process" and even then it was a hard decision. I had a great job working with a team I'd put together over the 20 years. Still st!t scared about the decision, but as they say "feel the fear and do it anyway " All the best with your own decision but don't over think it :-)

1 pointMy 2002 E39 530i Touring has an issue where the rear hatch ( main hatch, not just the glass ) will not stay up, and it falls onto your head or back when loading ! As there are no gas struts like Jap cars, I assume there are springs in the hinges or similar ? Has anybody fixed this ? Is it a major job ? What new parts do I need ? - I assume any used parts would be not worth the work, they'd be 1/2 worn out ? Or, is there an adjustment ?? Thanks

1 pointAfter looking for only a couple of weeks an E91 335i in Auckland took my fancy so I drove up for a look. Overall extremely tidy condition with a reasonably low 74,000 km on the clock and a two page long spec sheet. PPI Inspection came thru fine so deposit down and made arrangements for the transporter to get it down to the Bay ASAP. Its just arrived today (haven't laid eyes on it yet) but 5pm cannot come round fast enough! Here are a few dealers photos until I can snap some of my own.

1 pointbut bought an unreliable classic Jap coupe instead. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/mazda/auction-892916910.htm

1 pointIf you're up in Auckland any time soon, I have INPA and DIS v44 on a laptop that i can help you reset the sensor with.

1 pointIt's the little things that make projects so arrgghhhhhhh. This sounds...well actually this sounds exactly why I like owning cars with not soo many electrical things to go wrong. Every E38 secondhand/buyers guide I have ever read mentions this, and that is the only thing, well other than size that puts me off. But a perfect running one must be just mint! If I was better at computer stuff I guess that wouldn't bother me at all, but I am mudd. The E38 used to be considered big, and I guess it aint small, but parked next to an E65 its much nicer I think. Keep going, its going to be real nice. I love that leather console.
-
1 pointThanks FrancoisPV, yeah looks as though a 530 or 540 will be what I aim for considering the margional price difference from a 3 series, will definately be going for an M Sport, not a fan of the aesthetics without those options personally.

1 pointHow the weather in France? A few questions.. (I'm on your side, read them ) Are the plates from China or India? How many people have you scammed already? Does sh*t like this actually work? Do you also work for the indians who go around calling up pretending to be from microsoft windows. How much do you get paid to try rip people off? Have you ever even driven a bmw? Do you think by doing this you can buy a BMW or your imaginary 380i? Here's a tip, at least try to put up a good front, make it believable, first try thinking this over, will you fall for bs like this if you were in my shoes? No! Why the f&*K do you think, me, a owner of multiple bmws will be stupid to fall into your asian/nigerian scam? Your profile gives out the scam, seriously, a BMW 380i? that's a car that doesn't even exist? Come on, you are not even trying man. Next time do some R&D. ^ See I told you I'm on your side, gave you so much free input. You should like hire me as a business partner, 70-30. I take 70%. With my brain and your cheap slave labour, we will scam everybody, the men, the women, even the knights and solders, and the queen, and even including my old ill father. I will show you how to run a proper scam business operation. I accept paypal. Regards. Stop tolling Glenn! Sick old man has type 2 mongoo, nothing better to do but scare away genuine customers. I am sure the gentleman has read the forum regulations and was short on time to provide the pictures, Why don't you realize this man has plates for a 380i prototype. Dont worry, I got them fooled and bought us some time, while they are bumbling, quickly before they get back on to your scam, you gotta Photoshop a few pictures of the plates with north Korean leader kim jong un holding them.

1 pointIt has just occurred to me that people who do the 2K cup are a lot like cross fitters.
-
1 pointHe told me the perspex box was supporting the structure so it should be fine. He did mention that he had a previous "show car" that got pink stickered after his "mods".

1 pointI like it, not a bogan work, the engine is as someone mentioned a masterpiece of a work, specially the power/tq curve. not my cup of tea, $200K can be better spent else where but that's my personal taste, but just as somebody else said, just because you can doesn't always constitute doing it. but to in this case credit due indeed.

1 pointWe have the 2012 V8 Cayenne S and I wouldn't buy another one. Thought we needed a SUV at the time with marriage and kids down the road, after having our daughter we found it wasn't we thought it would be. The fuel usage is just one of the things we didn't like. It's definitely the best looking SUV but its really impractical, they look much better than the older version which was horrible when I had it as a loan car for the day. The old M3 we had was more practical as crazy as that sounds.
-
1 pointyes Glenn is right, I would happily pay good money for one of those I haven't seen one come up in a while and the last I saw went for about $30k... almost giving it away if you ask me

1 pointI've had the fire going almost every night for the last month and quite often during the day. You northerners have it far too easy. lol
-
1 pointI spotted the car last Saturday. It turned into the grounds of a local church, probably collecting the tithe. Made the mistake to directly look at it. My eyes are still sore and I now frequently wake up at nights in a panic... Will need to see a shrink - that'll set me back $$$.

1 pointRofl, so I just rang the guy and he is so full of crap. He says he is the best car audio installer in nz, and that he would have won a bunch of competitions if people weren't so jealous of him. He said that heaps of car audio places (including Rapid Radio) were desperate to hire him. He wouldn't tell me what the front speakers were because they were a "secret" that he spent 10 years developing. He said the only way to find out what the front speakers are is to buy the car. There are two amps, one is an old fusion, and the other is a soundmagnus. I tried telling him that soundmagnus is pretty crap but he tried to tell me they were the best. I could go on, but its best if you ring him yourself if you want a laugh.

1 pointCool M50B25 supercharger setups like this twin screw kit, gotta love the positive displacement units. Torque, power and aesthetics all in one. 190rwkw!

1 pointCongrats on the purchase! Looks tidy as Would recommend you get the Alpina TCU flash done on the AT transmission as the stock one was terrible with the paddles "This flash will make the transmission run smoother, gear change will be more precise and crisp, rev match downshift is unbelievable, rev limiter is increased and overall driveability is increased. You will have a new indicator for gear selection in D mode which display D1, D2, D3 ,D4, D5 and in DS mode you will see S1, S2, S3, S4, S5 and the same for the M mode. This single flash will make the car change gears more refined and crisp. You will no longer feel the lurching when the tranny shifts and it goes through the gears without even the slightest hesitation. It is indeed a must have flash if you own a E9x with a N54 engine..."
-
1 pointThanks Andy. Nothing wrong with the 530. Looking to sell it the coming weeks. Until then it looks like I have a bit of a problem having an E91 335i MSport, E39 530i MSport & E30 325i MSport up the drive!
