When BMW were writing the sofware for the M5, some dickhead decided that every time a warning comes up on the screen it should be the only thing on the screen, so the time disappears. ABS fault = no clock, low washer fluid = no clock, fuel reserve = no clock, have I got time to stop and fill up on my way to work? Dunno, the f@% king clock has disappeared!! There is plenty of room on the screen for the clock as well, but no. Thanks dickhead!

Oh it will. I did learn one important lesson. NEVER work for the Government. It feels like every department is full of people who failed at what the actually wanted to be. Yet they still scramble over each other to get the next shitty role.

I actually sent a picture of the trademe listing to the wife a few days ago, in jest... thought it was hilarious to spot it in front of me a few days later. And then witnessed the knob try and kill everyone else on the road

I can’t beleive it’s reflective haha! That seems maybe illegal? hells teeth, I’ve seen some shitty things done to BMW’s over the years, but this takes the cake.

Damn, where do you find that glow-in-the-dark masking tape? Need a special effects artist from the set of Tron to ruin my car too.

Been thinking the same thing. I also just remembered that I should have an old AC compressor lying around somewhere...

Started splitting a set of style 5s to use the wider barrels/better offset for my BBS RTs. Was a hard decision but I like the different look of RTs. And WAY easier to clean ?

They didn't have time to program it to display both

Hopefully surveys like that will encourage brands such as BMW to (re)introduce simple, mechanical, manual cars with as few electronics as practical for real enthusiasts. I don't even want automatic lights or windscreen wipers, I know when to turn both on. A touch screen radio interface would drive me spare (and I wonder why touch screens are even legal).

this reinforces my view that most people view cars as mobile infotainment systems which require as little driver input as possible. What a sh*t headline Better?

If someone gave me 200k etc to spend on cars id be filling the garage with older stuff before i even considered buying something brand new. Most modern cars just don't offer the things that i admired in the older models. Improvements come with a cost and you simply can't make a car like you could back in the day. Yep as much as i love power the speed limit is so low here that big power is wasted in average use. My S600 does a flat 6 to 100 and while its average performance by todays standards due to the weight ive never felt wished for more speed. Im glad ive never owned anything too powerful otherwise i would probably have no license.

I've never posted much about my builds as they never seemed interesting enough (still isn't). To help me track the progress of my build and experience behind the seat, now wouldn't be a bad time to start. The build came about when the R/R quarter of my E36 met the wall at Meremere at a drift day. Got too excited chasing some higher HP Nissan's and decided to re-initiate my drift on the straight in a cloud of smoke. This is what she looked like after the impact. After the accident, I did a few more events, one being a gymkhana style event held at Hooton Reserve hosted by Sports Car Club NZ. Below is link to one of the videos my mate took. This E36 had daily driving duties and handled abuse at the track but was no longer presentable on the exterior for the street (no that it was fancy to start with), so I decided to pull the car apart even though it drove perfecty straight and would serve its purpose on the track. I purchased a donor car which was a non-Airbag and non-ABS model; ideal donor for the next track/street hack and happened to be the same colour for dirty cheap. It wasn't long after that I came across an E30 PFL coupe rolling shell. {{And it was at this moment, I f**ked up}} Viewed the rust bucket and thought it wouldn't be too bad of a fix. Being my 5th E30 I've owned and in the worst state (to this day, @Jibs05 still gives me crap about and will forever) I wanted to build this to tick all the boxes I wanted in an E30. It took a bit to get the ball rolling for this one but within a couple of months, I sent it off to Quest Fabrication for a bad ass cage. Super stoked with the final result, bar Motorsport NZ taking so long to communicate a we issue with stitch welding that the cage is now got some surface rust...not going to be a fun time prepping for paint. Over the past couple of months, I've been cracking away at it slowly putting it back together for a drift day at Evergreen Drift Park in a couple of weeks which I've been itching to drive after seeing everyone enjoy themselves. Cheers for reading guys. Will post updates slowly as I make more progress

Nah that’s what they are going for, V8s in these have bad rep, specially the early ones. 535i probably a better plan. Drove one, goes like a cut cat though .

Installed the 3.07 diff today - very happy with the drop in RPM and now only 1 gear change to 100km/h - sweet. The old diff was actually a 3.73 so now 5th gear is like 6th used to be. Only doing 2200RPM in 6th at 100km/h now. It's also made 1st gear usedful at last instead of just reving for nothing...
