E30 320 Touring rolling shell on bottlecaps. Some rust in the firewall. Live rego. Asking $10-12k.

Oh, interesting about the adaptations, I always assumed they did reset with a battery disconnect! Definitely promising in that case... Yeah, a dongle with a USB cable, plus a link to some software called iFlash. BTW, if anyone else ends up doing MILVs, I bought the spring removal tool and happy to share it round!

As crazy as it is, looking at this more and more and comparing it to the last gen F30, just makes the F30 look dated and old.

Starting a new project log for the wagon just picked up. 2009 530i E61 M Sport LCI Japanese Import N52 3L engine, automatic, panoramic sunroof etc One of the first things that will need doing is replace some non working bulbs for the rear fog lights. Error message every time on start up is very annoying. Also the service alert on the CCC iDrive shows brake fluid service due and an oil service due (even though it was done recently it hasnt been reset) so if someone can help me to reset this that would be great. Next thing to chase is a low idle, sits at around 700rpm so the car vibrates very slightly. when moving though there is no vibration or anything which leads me to believe its not spark/coil or engine mounts etc. engine revs smooth and no misfiring. There were a bunch of random codes from my scanner but I deleted them all and will drive it again and see what codes come back and report. Another thing is that there is a clunk/thump kind of noise right after starting the car. so you put the key in and press the start button then the car will fire up, rev up to about 1500rpm then drop back down to idle and on the down-rev it will make a clunk noise. Could be transmission related, I have read on dr google this which seems similar to my issue https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/transmission-clunk-immediately-after-ignition.639595/ Other than that, both engine and gearbox is smooth and no jerkiness or anything. Panoramic sunroof is a bit of a d!ck. it mostly works fine but if you tilt it up, later when you want to close it, it doesnt close and will just "bounce". In order to close it I need to hold the button down to "reset" it by cycling through all the movement actions and it will work again. Doesnt seem like a mechanical issue like broken parts because it still works if you close it this way.. All in all, happy BMW ownership

After sitting in my basement for 2 months, got my Supersprint backbox installed yesterday. Looks great, sounds good, a subtle volume upgrade TBH (compared to stock plus golf tee mod) but feels like it has less drone / boominess and a nicer tone and very subtle burble on deceleration. My intake is pretty loud but now feels reasonably balanced between induction / exhaust now. Will drive it a week or so and see how I feel and whether or not I go ahead and delete the secondary cats or resonator for a little more volume / scream up top.

Nice vehicle! 90's BMWS and 20's Audis are about the best of car styling in my opinion. I'm guessing there is some small parts that aren't available locally so they're coming from overseas by the cheapest courier available...

Such a nice looking car but tbh they scare the sh*t out of me haha

It's all come out about as a "while I'm in there" when doing the valve cover gasket. Can't believe how stiff and brittle the old gasket was, no wonder it was leaking! Then also also while I was in there I did both DISA valves, new PCV hose and connector, new coils and spark plugs, plus a new alternator belt, tensioner and idler pulley for good measure. So after all that, the car feels great, way better than before! But that could be as much to do with all the adaptations being reset from having the battery disconnected (I assume this happens), rather than the MILVs, or anything else. I have bought the tune from Stage Fabrication & Performance though. They seemed to be the most recommended for the MILV mod. Haven't loaded it yet though, will aim to send the standard file off to them this weekend, so hopefully get the tune back and load it in next week! Be very interesting to see how different it feels again post tune...

Removed the drivers seat, good news is the budget for this project has increased by $3.20, bad news is those are mostly potato chips..... Looks like I will be spending some time in here with the carpet cleaner!!

That is not actually a bumper, it is a prototype fishing net made of recycled BMW parts and cable ties, the lights are to attract fish....

Wow!!! Good that it's fixed now but I'd be going back into BMW and demanding some of my money back. That is completely f#$%@d that they missed that!!

Thank you for all the response! Special thanks to @Arron for reaching out and helped solving the issue with my car, so stocked that it's finally acting how it really should be. My faith with the dealership is dead, very disappointed on them with all the time and money I've wasted it's just ?. You're a legend @Arron, once again thank you so much. ?

So..... firstly, Lester now has his bmw back up and running after over a year and several thousand dollars of “hunting the issue” style of bmw repair strategy (coils, plugs, fuel pumps,o2 sensors.... the list goes on) . I seriously wonder how some “head technicians” get their jobs within Bmw. initial scan of the m3 came back with the following codes (in the picture). Did some googling, and found out that the cat code is Indeed the cause of the limp mode, but what was causing it? Cleared it all off, took the car for a drive and as expected, went onto limp mode along with the cat code and o2 codes coming back during this drive, love data on the scanner showed that the o2 sensor voltage values were NOT changing, which was totally odd as you can see, ALL 4 Sensors have the same heater error...... put everything nag together and was like, surely if all 4 sensors have the same error.... it must be a common something connected to all 4. First thing first, checked the o2 sensor fuse.... wouldn’t you know it.... it was blown ? as a result, the heaters were not working and the sensors were not reading as they should have been...... in turn triggering the cat protection codes because of the “lean readings” in relation to rpm some things are not hard to use half a brain and figure out.... and how Bmw have now been able to use 1/20th of a single brain cell to follow the dead obvious signs fails to amaze me I suspect that what has happened is one of the original O2 sensors has failed, shorted and taken the fuse with it creating the further errors when the new ones were installed but anyway, problem solved!

Picked up this last weekend - wife's new car which will also become our 'main' car for road trips etc. After initially looking at MK6 GTIs she saw an A5 and was sold, not wanting a 'Mom car' hatchback as we have no kids. So picked up a Black A5 3.2 V6 Quattro S-Line (I couldn't sway her to a Bimmer) Very good looking car IMO, love the Quattro and moves better than I thought it would with the V6 and tiptronic (not a light car, obviously) - hustles along nicely and sounds good with 265hp. Pretty decent GT / Cruiser. The interior is really nice, especially with the super comfy yet supportive S-line seats in black leather / dark grey alcantara. loads of tech compared to my E46 of course - Audi drive select / MMI 3G / Bang and Olufsen sound, parking sensors etc. Wheels are 19" OEM S5 painted in a dark gloss metallic anthracite / bronze - not really my cup of tea, but looks good. Low speed ride is a bit jiggly though, maybe due to 255/35's all-round / sports suspension. Already found an oil leak and got a CEL for O2 sensor which dealer will be sorting - haha - Euro life. No plans to mod as its not really mine but will be doing a few minor bits: Polish and wax / sealant Wireless carplay box which works with the MMI system Audi Euro Plate 'RS5' style mesh grille Chrome delete of the window surround It needs some more aggressive offset wheels to fill the arches but doubt will change

What's a proper shoe worth? $55k? Aside from the body shape, it's an auto M52, LHD surely not near $35k even if it was all registered?

A lot of dealerships these days are just parts fitters, not mechanics. Its almost becoming a lost art to diagnose and fix issues that arent by the book or having the answer given to you by a computer.

    Bimmersport nails it. ?

was about to suggest the same. not much is coming out of BMW Germany in less than 4 weeks

you have hit the nail on the head. Its a fantastic looking car and drives amazing for a 530i. especially being LCI I think its even better than the older ones.. but... all the potential problems.. ugh couldnt resist it!

Absolutely, and I'd also be getting your story spread as much as possible. The sheer incompetence shown by the dealership is jaw dropping.

Adaptations don't reset with battery disconnect, got to command it to forget what its learnt. Sounds promising! Do stage FP send you out a dongle and software link, or is it third party stuff?

It sat in a shed and the rego lapsed while he was overseas and I recomplied it when I bought it in late 2012. I'd buy it back if I hadn't just bought another one.

The $10 subscription is piracy, its not a legit copy. Legit Carly is a rip off and the app is like a crayon drawing of the real tools. Im happy to pay for the devs to make good sh*t that worth it, and Bimmergeeks protools is that. It is NCS expert etc, just as powerful, its just wrapped in a GUI thats useable and has real customer support. More than happy to pay a fair price for it.

I have been using the Foxwell NT530 scanner with BMW software for a while now. Its OK, does most things that INPA does and reads all modules in the car. It talks both OBD2 and ADS. ADS is needed for the older BMW's like the E30 and E36. It also allows you to load two manufacturer's software at the same time, so you can load the Merceded software and be able to read all modules in your car. https://www.foxwelltool.com/wholesale/nt520-pro-scanner-with-bmw-software-installed.html

Still have her old Mazda Axela and did pick my own panel beater, just surprised at the time for what seemed like such a minor mishap (I've done it myself on my E46 and was able to DIY)

Looks awesome on those wheels! Narrowbody E92's really seem to suit the M3 offset wheels, that 330d on TM on CSL's looks great as well.

Ah right! I knew something like that was going on. Thank you very much for pointing me down the right path here. The previous owner told me that the car was originally a Singaporean diplomats car so that makes sense it is of the Japanese spec. There is a little red bulb on the dash board under the rear view mirror I'm assuming that is the receiver. I found a few promising threads on different forums and this one where they talk about this exact issue but I still haven't been able to get it to work. I've checked the IR signal is being sent with my phone camera and I can clearly see it is activating the IR when I click either button so it can't be that https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?1709378-How-to-key-program-my-E38-Japan-Spec I have attached a pic of the 7 series beauty here as thanks for helping. Hopefully someone knows this sequence for the 728I because I have tried the ones in these threads (as unbelievably confusing as a lot of the instructions are) and nothing yet. Possibly because none of them pertain to my specific model of bmw, I'll keep trying but help would be very much appreciated

@qube It definitely looks better black on black, masking the design. The tail pipes are.... creative.

I've got a gen bmw handbrake shoe kit i'll donate to the cause also. Thought I could use for the M5 but appears not.

$180 new from BMW NZ FWIW, probably cheaper than importing one. If you do find one for less please let me know, I need a new one too.

I owned this car from 2007-2013 as a factory/all original 328i under UQ8500 and did c.250,000 kms in it over that period. It was a great car, I really miss it at times.

So this little kerb vs bumper mishap means car is going to be off the road until 16th October... basically a month after only having the car a week, thanks to Tower taking their time and panel beaters being flat out. I really hope a lesson has been learned!
