Take a nice NZ new N47 powered 120d and repower with M57D30TU. Swirl flap delete along with DPF and EGR delete, Tune should be good for 700NM.

Good luck with that approach 😆

I disagree, I have personally put out 3 fires that would have become much more serious, with 1kg automotive fire extinguishers, its all about getting them under control while they are small fires.

Yeah, title could be "don't buy a car".

Pretty much, dealers hate imports regardless.

Probably better to go back to the old tried and true methods... Cheers...

Just because the ratchet part doesn't work you can still make good use of the stand... Cheers...

It wouldn’t take an investigator long to verify. One suspects there’s zero risk taken - at least in respect of facts - in that release.

While investigating a loose feeling in the rear suspension I noticed both rear guide links are shot as well as an exhaust leak. will replace the links ASAP as car needs some realignment anyway to correct a crooked steering wheel. exhaust is a bit of a mystery but the crack is fairly long and not sure how long it has been there.

It is just retail after all.

Another quick update. After driving the car around a bit more, it's clear that exhaust is a problem. It's taken half a dozen hits now, the clamp is not looking great, and the flexy is not going to last long. The exhaust has also been pushed up into the floor of the body to leave some small dents. This photo is an attempt to show how low this front section sits. The clamp: So, I've come up with plan to modify the front section of the system to tuck it further up into the car: I'll cut off the main V band clamp and flexy. Add a second small flexy to the "Y" merge section. Add regular 2 bolt flange further back, just before the resonator. Then connect the ends back together with a slightly ovalized length of pipe, I already made a start on merge section. Hoping to make some more progress this weekend.

I quite like the two tone dash. Good to see at 50k you still get a sagging glove box lid 🤣 For that price I would expect about half as many Ks, and for the front bumper to have been resprayed so it isnt covered in stone chips. Its nice, but its not THAT nice, especially with SMG1.

Driveshaft Hoops needed when an engine swap results in 'significantly' more power - indicated at 50%. https://www.lvvta.org.nz/documents/infosheets/LVVTA_Info_07-2016_Drive-shaft_Safety-loop_Requirements.pdf No fun at all, especially if you have a two piece shaft (two hoops) - had to do this in my E46 for the manual conversion cert process and cost me a fair few pingers. Couldn't find the literature but I thought an engine swap with 20% plus more power requires certification, regardless. Was going to say N52B30 all the way but then I saw how piss weak the 320i is - an N52B25 should be a big improvement and just under that 50% mark. I ensured all my modifications were LVVTA certified and declared to my insurer - not worried about WOFs so much as insurance. Lot of people rolling around in $$$$ cars with uncerted coilovers - basically handing the insurer a get out of jail free card.

Thats really bad advice. Not only should the car fail a WOF, and could be stickered by the Police, but your insurance will be void. The process isnt too hard, especially if its all bolt in OEM gear. You'd need to check with a certifier if you need a driveshaft hoop or no, otherwise make sure the rest of the car is up to scratch too (good brakes, since it will have to undergo a brake fade test).

Ridiculously, this has been listed as Automatic so doesn't show up in my standard trademe search for Manual BMWs... not great marketing.
