4 pointsHeard back from VTNZ today. NZTA have corrected the VIN number in their system. Now certification has been passed itβs time to go get a WOF. Not sure I should have had to pay the $100 re-vin charge in the end but not going to debate it now I have the desired result. Happy days.

2 pointsIf I want to feel good about mine I just go for a drive in it, still makes me smile every time!
-
2 pointsDefinitely, it's a super cool fabric I love mine. An E30 M3 I saw with mtex in it on instagram a while back: But when you're doing a whole interior the cost of the fabric adds up fast... and with there being so many cool period correct fabrics available for the E30 I'd probably end up going one of those routes. You're welcome to have a poke around mine to see what you think of the fabric in person if there is another meet sometime soon.
-
2 pointsThat's great news, NZTA can be painful to deal with. but it could have been much worse and drawn out.

1 pointI don't think he's gonna get 65k - like his housing portfolio, the market has peaked... Chrome line exterior (Option 346) @Kees - so apart from the black wheels looks fairly original. WInds me up that he put his π© personalised plate on for 3 months, previously on original 2 letter / 4 number plate.

1 pointIβm sure a few of you saw these seats go for $1700 last night - driver seat needs work and the rear seat looked an absolute mess (likely not salvageable otherwise I would probably have bought them). Sold to a wrecker so guess they feel they can be tidied and shifted for significantly more. Also, a jap import 320i auto 2 door for $27,000 anyone? It does have a stunning interior though.

1 pointGod, those $10 repco spray can style black rims change the whole appearance of the car. Along with the tatty looking front lip, it looks like it should be cruising around the streets of Huntly or Flaxmere on dole day.

1 pointDeary me, look at this thing! That's some effort that's gone in. The sound of it as well. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/z3/listing/3543928083?bof=ZIRQvZue

1 pointAmerican car gets an American v8. It looks factory but doesn't float my boat like an M Roadster does. Agree that the badges are tack. First thing new buyer should fix.
-
1 pointDamn, I'm tempted to retrim the E30 in that but its twice the price of Uberkaro and a little bit 'wrong'. It has such a good technical / retro vibe.
-
1 pointWhilst its kinda cool, its a car i would want to drive once and give the keys back to the owner never to think about it again. The badging is also cringe as all heck.
-
1 pointI've not driven an e39 m5, but I think I would rather have a super tidy e90 with budget for all the maintenance than $65k for a rough one of these. Condition & kms being equal, I'd take the m5 though.
-
1 pointPrice seems a bit optimistic on this one.. about $10k at least. The other sold in days... I doubt this one will...

1 pointMight also be worth blasting some water behind the plate with the hose to loosen the adhesive as much as you can without having to pull on the plate. Have had the issue in the past and just used water to get it off. Fishing line is a good idea though.

1 pointCoupled with the m50 swap package that's on trademe at the moment, would go well

1 pointThis is a handy article, lost of useful info.. https://www.e30zone.net/e30wiki/index.php/Differential
-
1 pointThe difference is the physical size of the case, bigger the case the bigger the gears that fit inside, bigger gears can take more load. Often referred to by the number of bolts holding the rear cover, small = 6 bolt, medium = 8 bolt. Not sure about large as they were never fitted to E30s from factory. You can swap small and medium case diffs in an E30, but you might need to swap axles and or output shafts as well depending on what you swap from and to.

1 pointWhole-heartedly agree. I have two weekend cars and neither see a drop of rain... Hell, I even hate my DD getting wet lol
-
1 pointThe wheels are a crime against good taste, but the rest of the car looks stunning. Can't imagine there are many around as tidy.

1 pointOK, following on from my intro thread https://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/65870-hopefully-a-new-owner-e61-m5/ here is my little South Island to Auckland trip with the new to me E61 M5. Firstly, to the various members that gave me assistance in Christchurch to make this all possible many thanks. In short I drove my wife's MK6 GTI down to Christchurch for the trade on the E61, took collection of the E61 late on Friday, spent the weekend in Christchurch and then headed back to Auckland. Honestly I didn't expect much of a demand for images and details but I'm more than happy to provide what I can. Sorry for the delay, but I've been flat out squeezing work meetings into the rest stops along the trip north which has left little time to post / create this thread.

1 pointOk, so I'm richer in one sense and poorer in another π Honestly I got the car just before sunset then spent 20 minutes trying to learn where buttons are, yes this is my first BMW. Oh and first start the airbag sensor threw a code ROFL, because apparently it was fixed after PPI. Car is in serious need of wheel balancing, and the steering wheel up down button seems a bit buggered. Poor little me moaning aside , it looks amazing , needs big pipes though as the factory rear end is so quiet. Love the massive moon roof, the steering feel is very nice. Considering all I have done is 20 minutes in bumper to bumper peak hour traffic I like it. And no I haven't pressed the M yet, although I did almost empty my wife's can of drink on to her lap π well I thought it was funny.... So I own an E61 M5, never thought that was going to be a thing. Thanks to everyone for the encouragement. I'll start another thread with pics etc once I actually have some. Cheers.
