Not strictly my car, but I took a little bit of BMW history in NZ down to the Festival at HD. Good old school motoring.. most of the time looking at the temp gauge and wondering if you’re going to get there! Zero mod cons, not even a radio. Have to ask yourself if you really NEED all that stuff? Could have done with a 5th gear and some aircon though.

In this case I'd suggest getting a written reference rather than just listing their details on your CV. It gives them less options to screw you over as you have a written version of what they think of you. If they contradict that later over the phone and cost you a job then they are opening themselves up for a PG. If asking in person is too uncomfortable then asking over email is perfectly reasonable in my opinion. Also remember a reference doesn't just have to come from a direct supervisor to be useful. You can make use of colleagues or higher levels of management if you have those relationships.

Good afternoon all, I just have to tell someone. My new baby has left her home of the last 9+ years and started her journey down to me. I just can't wait. I used to have a 99 728i and I sold her for a 2003 730i E65. Wish I never had. So after 4 1/2 years of the E65, I am going back to the one car I have loved being in and driving. This time a 2001 728i in a lovely Steel Blue. Oh the fun I am going to have. I have already got plans to make her even more beautiful. E38 Beige wood grab handles - ready and waiting C pillar wood 'Porn Lights' - on their way Working on replacing the original 16:9 HU with the Avant4 headunit which will work with the DSP, and yet give me all the modern features, but look like the original. Bring it on baby Thanks for listening to my dribble. I just want her here now..... Rob

Yeah that really wasn't worth importing to NZ... will be a tough sell here. American cars that aren't available in RHD I can understand... but nobody is going to be in the market for an LHD BMW lol.

Well, what do you think? Style 71 reps. (Good quality ones at that) 18x8 et35 fronts 18x9 et35 rears great offset for the e46.. as pictured on std msport suspension, fills out the wheel arches well, with std tyres of 255 & 225.

Left my last job because of stress and the impact it had on my life. Was on call a lot - lots of long days and calls at random hours like 2am to fix urgent problems. Put up with this for years and noticed it killing my social life, making me tired all the time. Sure it paid enough to buy nice things but I never had time to enjoy those nice things! It was also a high pressure job where problems were urgent and had to be handled carefully and quickly. That company did a lot for me in terms of the experience and skills I gained but it had to come to an end. Found a new job with regular hours, no on-call because they actually have sufficient staff around the globe so nobody needs to work at night, and you're hardly left on your own with a major issue. Having more personal time and less stress is great, and I don't feel tired all the time because I can stop worrying about work as soon as I log off and nobody will call me when I'm sleeping! I've also learned that when it comes to managers who are refusing to take feedback or listen to your suggestions - it's best to let it go. In the end it reflects on them and the responsibility is on them. This caused me a fair bit of stress in my last job. In my new one, I'm just hanging back and letting them do what they want. I'll offer feedback, but I'm not going to care when they don't do what I suggest. Interesting comments in this thread RE managers. Some senior managers in my last job were extremely talented and skilled at their work, in the technical sense. But they seriously lacked people skills, couldn't resolve their disagreements between each other which meant staff below them suffered, and in some cases acted like bullies and cost the company good staff. Worst bit is - the CEO had the same issues. Brilliantly smart guy with zero empathy for people so he was totally blind to this issue. If you notice managers with poor people skills, I think it probably reflects the person at the top.

That's my opinion... https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2942251621 It is a USA M... only 240hp, not 320hp... maybe if it had 10k kms on it... I recently bought a stunning Z3 2.8 manual for less than 1/5 of this... with RHD.

Gosh the guys reply reads straight like a Nigerian scam. I know english probably ain't his first language but there are some similarities in the wording to common scams.

I have a Foxwell NT530 scanner with BMW software. Around NZ$400 on TradeMe. Works well for a handheld scanner. It also talks OBD1/ADS for those with the older BMW's. I got it for this reason. Some of the early Z3's I see are still partly OBD1/ADS. I use INPA running on a Windows 10 surface pro for the majority of my stuff.

Spark trigger and timing is running of a signal from the crank as the normal dizzy has been removed. Later DTM engines ran four seperate coils and Bosch Motorsport ignition control I believe. Very nice, on my list of “if I win lotto..” items to buy.

I used A1 tinting to do my front windows. I’ll be honest, it’s the first time I’ve had a car to tinted but I am happy with it. He’s mobile and came to my house. The guy is a bit of an acquired taste “while I am working on your car it’s my car!” 😆 but his work seemed good to me and he turned up on time and used 3M tint which was good. If you Google you can see his reviews and contact details.

With regards to temperatures on the M52. I originally ran an 88 degree thermostat in my swapped car, and the temperature needle sat bang on halfway. (Standard E36 6 cyl rad, with the 80/88c switch) After doing a few track days and general use, I found my Aux electric fan only turned on when I either towed, (high revs slow speed), or sat in traffic on a hot day for a minute or so, before turning off. Since the temperatures were consistent, I then swapped to the stock thermostat for the M52, which I believe is 96 degrees, in hopes of better fuel efficiency. This meant with no other changes to my cooling system, the E30 needle sat in the middle between halfway, and the 3/4 mark. My E36 rad later starting weeping, and I swapped to the Z3M rad, as it wasn't too much more than a standard replacement. I will note though, that I never managed to put a temp gun to anything, as I ordered one from Aliexpress, played with a few times in my office, and when I went to use it in the garage, it stopped working. But figured providing the temp needle was stable, I shouldn't have too many issues. Though being able to read the actual temp might be useful later on.

Id rather buy a 2nd hand laptop then install ISTA. You could also add INPA,DIS,NCS etc depending on your requirements. Should be easily less than $200 and far more capable than all those cheap scanners.

1957 BMW 507 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_507 The BMW 507 is a roadster that was produced by BMW from 1956 to 1959. Initially intended to be exported to the United States at a rate of thousands per year, it ended up being too expensive, resulting in a total production figure of 252 cars and heavy losses for BMW.

The practical reality is that the market for an e46 M3 is tiny, and of that tiny market about 99% won't even consider a convertible so you might be looking at one or two people a year who will come and kick the tyres, then walk away at this price. It's just not realistic. Hardtop might have cost $7k but it's worth nothing with the car now, it's a (necessary) giveaway. No mention of rear subframe consideration and it's a UK import which are two huge (multi-thousand dollar) considerations. It will cost you $400+ to have it properly checked for rust. Being an '05, as long as the owner can prove it's been run on 10w60 its whole life then no deductions there. VANOS? Spurious headlights and badges... not so good. Driver's seat is falling apart. The problem is, in this market, how can you tell? I don't actually think listing it as $42k is a stupid idea, I just don't think it will sell for that and if the seller isn't pragmatic, for the reasons above it will sit there for a long time. I think they'd be smart to quickly accept a $32-$35k cash offer if it came along.

I've just recovered this car from a friends place. It has sat on a bush covered driveway for about 10 years or so. It's a manual, with about 300,000kms on the clock. It ran well before being parked up but, the rust is strong with this one. I don't want it on my front garden for long so if please get in touch if you're interested in parts. Really we're talking about lights, glass and perhaps some trim parts etc... The bonnet may be OK, and the boot with some repair work. All other panels / doors are toast. The interior has been damp and is mouldy. Sorry if this add bends some of the rules. I actually have no idea what these parts are worth. Left tail light $20.00 (chipped) Right tail light $100 Left and right head light clusters $100 each Windscreen, rear screen, window glass are all in good condition. $150 for front screen, $50 for the others Motor and gearbox unknown. You'd have to want them pretty badly because I'm not that keen to get them out of the car! $500.00 ono Let me know if there's something you want me to pull of the car. I'm happy to negotiate on all prices listed. Cheers.
