Sucks that this has happened. You're dead right though, it depends on your insurer and their fine print/terms and conditions. Last one I dealt with, I had been paying monthly (was only a couple of $$$ a year over an annual payment, so no interest being applied), and it was cancelled on the spot - no need to pay out the rest of the term. If you wanted to get the car back, I would be happy to donate whatever parts I have to you to repair it, got a 2000 Compact sitting there that's for parts now - my plans for it changed, so it's going to get scrapped. If you're keen, just send me a list - I'll get it, package it and get it on it's way for you. Door glass, complete ignition and door locks (with key), steering column trim etc, isn't hard to grab for you man. The interior will dry out, and everything else looks minor and like it can be fixed. Completely your call, I'm happy to do what I can to help salvage it though if you want. It's a shame to see a decent car written off for minor damage because some butthole decides he wants to charge thousands to repair it, because he doesn't want to do the job but needs to keep quoting insurance work otherwise he won't get any, and because insurance companies are proactively trying to get older cars off the road.

SOLD Running out of time and space so up for grabs is my 1985 BMW E28 525e. These came with a factory installed and built M20B27 Stroker for flat torque and fuel efficiency. It has an astonishing 424,324 km on the clock. Considering the age and mileage, in my opinion, the condition of the car is nothing short of remarkable. It comes with its original black plates which are live and on hold. MI9956. Just 4 more years til cheap rego for classics. What it needs to get back on the road is the oil pump rebuilt or replaced, I’m half way through removing it, with that done and the car returned to the road in my opinion it’s easily a 5k car. Follow that up with a respray and a touch of new chrome around the windows and it’s easily a 7k car. The only rust I’ve found thus far is confined to the rear corners of the sun roofs roof. The sunroof winder is present but needs repaired or replaced. It won’t start with the key due to what I understand to be a fairly common fault with these cars. So I crank it using the diagnostic port. comes with new dizzy rotor, cap and spark plugs It’s possible a bunch of suspension bushes or boots could cause issues during a Wof, but it will depend where you take it. No holds No stupid offers Swaps for road going BMW or 4x4 considered. Located in Aranui, but if you hire a trailer and put for fuel/ferry etc I’ll deliver it. $1500 needs to go, house selling, no space at the new place. SOLD

The other thread reminded me I have one here too, to suit the E36/E46 sport wheel. Black synthetic leather with red stitching. I've used one of these on my old MX5 and they feel really nice when fitted and look very good. $25 posted (excluding rural). This is the wrap only, not the wheel (Though I have a mint one of those too).

Withdraw the claim and fix it yourself. In there ads on TV they are always sing and song and happy ending. When you actually deal with them it is nothing but heartbreak and frustration.

She's now a 325. Moving that drive train along gravel takes skills to pay the bills It was all fun and games until I realized the headers had a snapped flange bolt, 2 hours of mc hammer time. 1am on Saturday, signed off on that, most of the time being that stupid Exhaust stud. Monday was bolting the sub frame up and realized engine was an inch infront of the engine mounts, realized that while the transmission support bracket on the 320i and 325i look the same, they are not, bolt holes allow the box to sit back further and engine clear the front of the sub frame. What a mission re aligning that. Had to use a combo of engine support and engine crane to nudge it back. And on gravel, just imagine. Bolting sub frame up took some tounge twisting and cunning tactics. Basically loosely slotted in the control arms and then jacked up the middle to close enough. And then used another jack to push up one of the sides to the hole as the angles are impossible to balance it flat. Fun times tho! Hell of an experience on gravel.

What condition ks and condition, N52B30s seem to be around $1400 mark in good nick (long block) I imagine the box is probably worth about the same?

The seats did take a few days of effort, but part of that was me learning, and just going slowly to get everything to fit how I wanted. Well worth it in the end.

I am the owner of this M3. I have updated the trademe listing with details. Yes, it is a Singapore car but I would have thought any issues associated with this would have manifested and been resolved in the last 13 years? It was Phoneix yellow but has been resprayed (not wrapped) in Santorini Blue. Was SMG but has been converted to manual. Further details in advert.

Had the rear guide links replaced this week and rear shocks swapped left to right. After Ana alignment at Coombes these changes have made a huge difference to rear end feel. I no longer have the sliding rear end feel and the car is no longer leaning like it was in the rear I also noted a rattle with the back seat out this was a worn rear sway bar link, so replaced this today too. Not a hard job in the garage just tight for tools. now to put the back seat back together and save for new suspension 👍

Just drained the fluid, removed the pan, swapped the filter, refitted the pan with new gasket and bolts, refilled using an electric oil pump. Front of car on axle stands and rear on a trolley jack so I could get it level and used an infra red thermometer to make sure temp was correct when refilling. I have a large measuring jug to drain the old fluid into so I can see how much to put back in, but still fill to the level of the hole. I know it doesn't get all the old fuid out which is why I did it twice with a few kms between changes.

Deemed a write off after assessment today. Final insurance pay out comes to little over $1200.. sigh. apparently they take the remainder of the insurance premium off (I pay monthly) so there is still $200 odd dollars “outstanding” what a joke eh. I have asked them to re-evaluate the car’s value but looking on trademe there isn’t much to go by.. wonder if they will value it any higher than the $2k it was insured for.

Spotted our e36 compact ravaged by the scums of the earth. Right after we finished putting in brand new headliner and all the maintenance work.. thanks! Only insured for 2k less 500 excess so big time out of pocket if we get paid out or might be repaired..?
