06 Z4 E86 3.0SI Sapphire Black with Oregon Red Interior
M3AN replied to Dave Murray's topic in New Member Introductions
Yeah, that looks great. I don't think 19's look good on many cars at all but you've pulled it off. -
You missed my point. Even with the same racks a Z3 is going to feel different to a 318i, comparing them back-to-back is apples and oranges. Regardless, the non-M Z3 rack is universally accepted as the best (RHD) rack. Since you have both cars I'd be fascinated what you thought of each if you swapped the racks over, not that I'd expect you to do that!

It's a sports car, not a family car. 😉
-
I think mine were just a nut and bolt, maybe it a facelift thing? @gofaster - you could just buy two zinc coated nuts to suit and be rid of the existing arrangement.
-
You can't compare a Z3 rack in a Z3 to an E36 rack in a 318i. I can assure you that a Z3 rack in an E36 is epic. If you can't do that then a purple tag is still a massive upgrade, there's no dispute. Stock '95 M3 rack is the worst of the bunch.

My E36 coupe headliner cost $400, that's with me removing and installing it, ~5 years ago.
-
Hopefully you're not putting a stock rack in it... given your previous comments on OE springs I'm not sure...
-
Yeah, in case there's any doubt remaining those gearbox mounts look fine, a bit of jigging around and you'll be able to do them up. As for the nut on the tension arm it doesn't look like it could spin in that housing... regardless, just make sure you can do it up tight if you need to use an unconventional method to undo it.

I finally installed the rear Nolathane subframe bushing reinforcements, they've been sitting on the shelf in the garage since shortly after lockdown (July), I was waiting until I got a new rear swaybar but that never happened. The job wasn't too difficult, getting the upper front ones in required a bit of manipulation as clearance was tight but 2 hours all up, going at a casual pace on a sunny day was no problem. The end result: squat. I can't feel an iota of difference lol. Given the suspension is pretty sorted on my car that was somewhat expected, I'm not particularly disappointed, it's $100 that will last a lifetime and also increase the life of the existing rubber bushings. Some people say they make a world of difference, I'm a sceptic. No harm, no foul, I'm not left not knowing what they might do.

What would we need to programme? I have an E87 and a spare key from a different E87, could that be programmed to work with my car? Would I need to send both keys + CAS to you? Of could I do some of the work at my end (I have NCSExpert for example)?

Long time no love... fixed that in preparation for some KBM action. Watch this space.
-
😉 If you ask nice I'm sure @HELLBM will build one for you!
-
That would be like 4 weeks work for me! 🤣
-
Great ad and lol at the Nurburgring map embossed on the front headrests. But screw the car, I want a house with a listening room like that!
-
Anyone who has it in NZ will be buying it from those places anyway and adding margin. Or it will be from BMW NZ and will cost 400% more than it should.
-
Yuck. Back in the day we'd say 'riced', not sure if that's kosher these days. Even that interior carbon fibre looks naff, far too shiny. The matte stuff they sell is better.

Gave her a long awaited drive then bath, hasn't been driven for 6 months and boy, I had forgotten the pleasures of true ///M. It's also clear to me that a $15 Ali snow foam cannon is just as effective as a $100 local one. Had to give her a warmup and clean in preparation for a very important trip up to Kayne Barrie on Tuesday... 😎

Finally, looking sharp again. Did you get replacement trim or paint/cover the existing ones?
-
Old post but I've just been able to confirm mine is XHP Stage 3... I don't have any software or tools for this flash so I need to research whether I need to get that.
-
I have a rear parcel shelf for sale if anybody is looking...
-
I have a spare rear parcel shelf for an E81 or E87 for sale, it's in perfect condition, no cracks, no fade and both rubber bumpers and straps are intact. It's black (anthracite) in colour. I paid $70 for mine, I couldn't find a wrecker that would sell me one for less than $120 (😮), you can have this one for $50. Collection only from Ellerslie, I'm unable to arrange shipping for this sorry.

Just one, one side per axle. Did the old one trigger? It might be reusable.
-
That's fine, if it's not bled correctly it will hit 100*C and keep climbing until something bursts.
