Name Trevor says it all really. Again, Burgers Motor Works.

Mid 12's would be tough to get on an E60 M5. They are aren't that great out of the starting box. They only fly once you hit 5krpm. I'm looking at newer S3s at the moment which can get into the 12's stock.

FYI I changed out my stock mufflers to straight through mufflers and it was too loud in the low RPM range and not loud enough up top. Ended up with a fair bit of drone and a weird cyclic harmonic effect when cruising. That and it didn't seem that loud when giving it stick.

I'm wondering if there will be another boom once N54/N55 cars become classic. I can see it going down the toilet in the next 10 years due to the electric boom. Potentially makes it a good time to sell your classics in the near future?

Sadly the $75k is a bit too much for the M6 for me, a 640i GC is half that at worst. At that money I might as well go all out with a Quattroporte GTS.
-
I can tell you from experience that black is worse. I think white suits the E60 M5, but you would be best off with a silver or other light metallic I think.
-
I also prefer the GC styling.

I'm not that much of a fan of the M6, or indeed the S63 but that interior! I'm tempted to buy it on that alone. The exterior is also a great option. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/m6/listing/3139221700?bof=wO2N3YhA

Exactly. Trademe is a buy/sell website for buying and selling. If you aren't doing those things then there's no need to comment on the listing. But that's what a forum is for, discussion! Trademe is not a forum.

I'd have to agree that's an obvious write off but it may not have that significant damage. Only takes a couple of damaged parts to tip it over the edge.

A very cool car. My dad had a 535i back in the late 90s, it was good times. I'd be tempted if I could sell my Maserati, but I suspect people with car money have already spent it post COVID so it may be a buyers market. I also suspect that 535i is wanting more than I am willing to pay for it. I'd have to buy the B5 RS4 which is only a little more money and a lot more fasts. Edit: I f**king hate how people think trademe is a forum now. The internet is such a cesspit.

Good on you for killing the black. I had mine in black with gloss everything and and I much preferred the black and silver look. Not sure if the discolouration is just wear on your leather but I have used Chemical Guys leather cleaner on my grey leather and it cleans out all the brown staining. I notice the E55 in the back there. I think I remember you asking about them a while ago. The M5 is a much more capable car.

Good man. Sold the S60R? Saw it on TM a while ago and was tempted.
-
Sold mine too cheap at $20k it seems!

It won't stack up financially if that's what you are worried about. The only cars that do are those at the bottom and near the top of the price curves. If you want a newer car, get a newer car. Otherwise spend ya 15 grand on a nice TV, or a jetski or home renovations or something.

Help with wagon recommendations (first BMW)

E61 5 series is bigger than the Caldina. E91 3 series about the same size. There's little wrong with a turbo Legacy, handsome if not beautiful, good handling, powerful, relatively reliable. I realize this one is higher KM on it, but it does say it's had it's cambelt and water pump done. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/subaru/legacy/listing/3119132308?bof=2UuwBZ49 Even the 3.6R Outback is worth a look if you want ground clearance and even better reliability. Add some nice wheels and away you go: Otherwise a cheaper 530i and put some money away for maintenance. -
It sounds like it was the tyre shop that found they were buckled? VTNZ wouldn't be geared up for that unless they were really kaput.
-
Oh I don't disagree. I just blew 11 grand on a clutch. The biggest cost on my E60 M5 was the depreciation when I sold it, followed closely by the fuel bill. Only had to spend a few grand on in during my ownership.
-
The M Coupe also.
-
In the E60 M5 there's also 2 idle actuators, 2 throttle controllers, 2 ionic sensors, 4 vanos solenoids. Every one of those cost $1000 per item.
-
SMG3 in the E50 M5 is a bit sh*t. It's not great at low speed or full throttle. The Maser version is a lot better but I think it burns the clutch to smooth out the experience. The clutch also costs a fortune. Both are definitely not automatics in their driving characteristics.
-
Love that interior colour.
-
Just get a 740i and give it a tune. Great car for the money.

Depends what special is to you. I had an E60 M5 and It was pretty good. Moderately special I guess. Granturismo S - Only gripes are the seats, sticky old sh*t in the interior and having to deal with Winger Maserati. Average joe's look at you like you are special AF. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/maserati/granturismo/listing/2963245208?bof=bgMRwpqY -911 if you don't mind automatics. -There was an Alpina B7 for sale a while ago and that looked quite nice. This looks pretty sick, but I'm not sure it's properly special: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/audi/listing/3019594564?bof=87YvckiS

I heard Gull 98 was 87 octane mixed with the spice melange. Seriously though, not hard to check the SDS. Gull Force 10 is 98 Octane made up with 95 and ethanol. Has worked fine for me for a decade or so.
