Hey everyone. Thanks for the messages and kind words. I shifted through about 50 texts, calls and Facebook messages after it happened - it was sort of like I had a lost a member of the family, and to be fair I have. The cops were great to work with. The senior constable in. Charge turned to me and said in the 18 years on the job, never has he seen a women so distraught and upset about a car. So topped that record!! I've been to see it at the yard. It was pretty heart breaking. I'm hoping somewhere, someone can manage the fix for the insured value but it doesn't seem hopeful. It will most likely be a write off. Ray and his team are the only ones capable of achieving the job to perfection in bringing her back, but it's now a matter of time and money... The lady who hit me is at fault for the damage (go figure) and I'm pleased she walked out alright. Right now, my time is spent wondering how to get this beast back on the road, as I'm pretty shot my dream car was taken so soon.. It was a split thought of 'Friday's = No Traffic let's take it out' and I'm going to regret it everyday. Sure there are probably other cars out there, but this M3 was 'my' car, so it's still shattering. I will keep everyone updated, and thanks again for the support!

Ordered a new suspension link and it'll arive in the morning so in the mean time I've been cleaning. The interior has come up real nice. Then it was into those bits that most people forget to clean when they wash their car. And this car was definitely forgotten. Next was the engine bay. I dont know if it'll show in the pics but it's a whole lot cleaner than it was. Also found a few more things that need attention while I was cleaning. The fan shrouds broken and needs a replacement and the oil filter top mounts are broken. Before After.

Make a BMW 'S3' (Schnitzer 3) Hybrid the two cars together for one ultimate car. Then purchase E36 318is for fun car.. Kidding. My goal is to have her back in my driveway. Strict curfews will be put in place if that happens. Eg: No driving in traffic, not to be driven in the wet, bull bars front and rear... Nah not really, but I think I'll become a concerned mother whenever it gets driven (if it ever gets driven again) I'm hopeful. Fingers crossed and all. Right now it's just waiting back from insurance on what's the verdict. It's been the most intense waiting period ever. Women should never love cars, this sh*t gets too emotional! Haha.

i feel the weight in the front of my touring over other touing (though havent pedaled a 540i yet), an E30 V12 would be silly, tbh i wouldnt even be that impressed by it, poor engine choice to match the vehicle.

Funny, getting the second valuation done on my property tomorrow, bank said I needed a new one even though I had one done end of last year, the women said properties have increased in value upto 20k in that short time! Off topic, sorry team. You can have a manual, but not in the top trim with the 125kw engine.. thats whats annoying me. And if I want one I have to wait 4 months... but that means I can option proximity key. leather is an expensive option, as is Xenon lights, just gotta figure if I would get the money back when I sell it in 3-5 years. They can tow 2100kg braked, they drive like a car, and can actually go off road reasonably well. Spent a long time trying to find the true all rounder that can tow my rally car and haul stuff for work without going to a ute like every other wanker in this town. Am driving the top spec one tomorrow with the DSG, was offered a very good deal on it pre registered.

Only time distances you from crutches, a wheel chair or a box. Your attitude can change all of that very quickly.... or sell the bike

Something else Mercedes are good at... Go back to the 80s and Mercs were revered as luxury German engineering. These days everyone has one. I'm saving for a Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe. Let's see the neighbours turn up in one of those!

Bright yellow E30 road/track car on SH1 heading south, left the highway at Hampton Downs. Roll bars visible through the rear window. Couldn't read all the signwriting, just number 31. Miss M very much approves!

Will do. Ray was I think the first point of call after 111 haha! All options will be explored. I've been inundated with offers to purchase it through me vs auction, it seems E46M3s are hot property (once crashed lol) A few fairly good offers but I'd like it back in my drive going. Will see!

Massive shoutout to Swann Insurance. They are legends. They are having the vehicle towed from yard to my allocated Panelbeaters shortly; and assessment will go from there. Super quick and easy to deal with and certainly don't muck around! Fingers crossed... Maybe..: sort of :/

Amazing m5, I've always thought the e39 was a nicer looking car that the e60 for some reason. Is that rear center console air vent box factory? Looks awesome.

So at the behest of my wife I sold my Jap import E36 325i and it left me with my "Project" 93 325i coupe and as I always seem to be doing something to it I just don't get to drive it very often. Turners had a 96 318is coupe on a dollar serve so I had a bid and got it for a grand, its not bad had a leaking oil filter boss and worn front bushes but pretty cheap to fix them, and of course it was Silver so it matches my hair. My wife gave me that look that says I am not impressed but I ignored and said the car was actually for my boy, so that was ok. Then perchance I saw a 330ci advertised on TM for 4k. Now 4k 330ci's are not common so I rang him and he said just got back from holiday and I have a lot of messages re the car but come and have a look if you like. I had a drive and noticed a leaking valve cover but no other major concerns so I shook hands on it. Now 5 weeks later I am actually going to pick it up, I thought the seller was a bit dodgy as he wouldn't return my calls but he said he had to get a new transponder key from Germany so I could lock the car. If it is dodgy then I can always ell it as a parts car, car Jam says it has no money owing on it and the owner is the first NZ owner so fingers crossed km's are 180. My wife is unimpressed, but I am happy and after all I feel thats whats most important.

Evening all, today Dave and I swapped cars. Not for long but I wanted to check out the new rack and Dave wanted to check out my lightened flywheel. What a difference between the two rakes his is so positive with mine seeming to be so lazy. As for the driving experience I would describe Daves car as refined. It was sporty, comfortable and quiet. Keep up the great work mate

Already is. A 2012 Phantom Drophead (Rolls don't do convertibles, y'know) is well under $500k. Can't really live in it, and the fuel will be even more than Auckland rates, but it is tempting... Now, can I get a mortgage on a 'mobile palace'?

How about a his and hers special for $100k? Pristine condition 535i with 5000k on it and a 2004 M3 vert (hard top with smg) with 130k - best of both worlds.

PSA: Expansion Tank Return Line An interesting one this - part number 17112227483 and less than $30 from BMW NZ - although I have no idea of the failure parameters and I've never heard of one failing I'd recommend replacing yours anyway. Mine basically perished in my hands when I removed it. Difficult picture but here are 4 of the 5 or more bits it fell into. I don't think you can test this pipe without breaking it and yours may be fine but for $30 I'd consider a preventative replacement because if that line blows you're out of action. Bonus Update: No coolant leaks so far!

I saw a red one in the car park at Sylvia Park not so long ago, too. About two weeks after I'd seen a red 2002 parked there. Policemen, buses, and 2002s?

Seems right ... its cheaper than say an Rx3 or GTO. spot rust is normal on cars of that age .. its a good sign it means its been used which is better than something sitting around for that price with un-told mechanical issues. Remember an m325i is commanding 15k upwards these days.

Hopefully not a divorce lawyer, after all my wife is younger than me, better looking by far and earns more money than me, plus she secretly likes BMW's she just doesn't want to admit it publicly. Now all I have to do is find replacement trim for the E46 as I am not a big faux wood fan and perhaps some bilsteins or Konis and some 18'a nd some Pirellis and some ......................

IMO and only my opinion, from what I saw on the track some of the drivers have proably had a bit of help getting in.. there's no way some of those cars cost $2000 or less.
