Nice to see such an honest description, GLWS.

1972 BMW 3.0S - manual. I'd thought I'd see if there is any interest in the car here before firing onto other car sales sites. The car hasnt been restored, but had any rust cut out and a bare metal respray back in 2006 by the Surgery in Tawa. The seats were reupholstered in materials closely matching the original textures and colours at the same time. Car is a good runner - I suspect that the engine had some work prior to us purchasing the car - in January we took it on a camping road trip - Wellington to Coromandel via the East Coast - only issue was perished rubber exhaust hangers that needed to be replaced on route. Huge amount of spares available with the car including panel cuts from a rust free 2500 we wrecked. Car is currently on 15 inch E34 rims - but there are a number of 14 inch wheel options within the spares including... virtually unused set of steel wheels, hubcaps and trims, two sets of the correct option alloy wheels and hubcaps, and a genuine set of 1970s Minilite alloys. Included in the sale is set of BMW Workshop manuals for the E3, Part 2 of the parts manual for the E3, original brochures from the Earl's Court Motor Show that the original owner got prior to purchasing the car, and a pair of Midlock carb balancers for setting up the carbies. This isnt a car I had intended to sell, but but health has taken a major turn for the worse - and I need to empty my garage I was hoping to get around $12K for the car, but am open to offers

Bought this following the world's worst PPI and had it trucked down from Auckland without eyeballing it myself. Presented far worse than adverstised/photographed, and the story got worse from there. Passenger sill is rusty - not like Swiss cheese rusty, but certainly 'fix now' rusty. What the vender promised was a flogged diff bushing has turned out to be a crack in the chassis behind and to the left of the bush. Jon at Auto38 gave a rough estimate of 1800 to sort both. The car photographs OK, but paint is let down by clearcoat oxidising in small patches on the bonnet, bird strike etching in a couple of places and a couple of dings. There is a recent professional rust repair in the scuttle below the bonnet line. There is a little rust and a dent in the rear valance, and other nicks and scratches that need looking at. The interior is untidy, the headliner is mouldy and will need replacing. The SE upholstery is all gone (though the blue glovebox/console/lower dash remains) and has leather rear seats and what look to be Integra recaros in the front. It has remote locking via a mongoose alarm. Brakes and shocks will need attention, the vendor understood the setup to be lowering springs and standard shocks. The rack is leaking and has play. Basically I want to make it clear this is being sold as a project car - it needs enthusiam and attention, and I have neither right now. Its a shame - it still is a handsome car, I love the colour (reminded me of @Allanw 's beautiful family SE), and the spec is nice, but it's a project rather than a tidy-up which is what I thought I was getting (and all I have time for!). On the plus side: VTNZ warrant, OBC, SE skirts/spoiler, getrag 260 (installed by hellbm, uncerted), m20b25. Engine (885) has done high kms but has been rebuilt at least once. Viewing encouraged. Thanks Edit: as is where is.

The E46 is back! Here's the list from the PPI Replaced leaking rocker cover gasket and seals Replace water pump Replace A/C and fan belts Coolant Replace driver's mirror glass (had some blotches) Replace both front seat belts (not retracting well) and left rear belt (frayed) Install new front tyres (came with the car ) Fit 2nd hand ABS pump and bleed brake system - code ABS unit The auto electrician who coded the ABS unit reckoned it's the nicest E46 he's seen/driven. Only thing not done is the boot lights - Auto38 is tracking the right ones down... Great to have it back Do notice that the fuel consumption needle seems to be very laggy compared to the one in the E53.

Car now SOLD thank you. I got my naughty bottom spanked by admin so I am now selling one E30 coupe - the sale of other sweet E30 parts is neither expressed nor implied in this ad. This vehicle is as per pictures. A parking ding in driver door and the paint is not perfect - clear coat peel on boot - but it is decent. I rust proofed some paint chips on roof. rego is on hold . As usual Seats are a little rough up front. I have removed and por15 some minor rust below boot rubber behind boot lock - a common spot . New water pump and coolant and the m20 is a gem. I have a good rear bumper and front air ducts but just not installed as I straightened slightly bent valance(don’t worry admin they are included in the price ?) ... which is $3500 without the pictures wheels but I’ll throw some on there for sale (pictured)

I think PS4S only come in 19 and above from memory? Something like that anyway.

For a day to day commuter Pete, you’ll love it. Saw it in the workshop. Very cool colour and beaut condition. You’ll probably think the fuel gauge is stuck compared to the other two.

For the record my Goodyear F1 experience is not on runflats... in fact i didn't even know they were available as such!

Personally ive never seen a sealed hub bearing (or diff for that matter) cause any vibration on in car, you usually hear start things start bad long before they develop play. Did they isolate anything else back there? CV's on a hoist are at odd operating angles also esp with the wheels on. Sounds like your suspension is fairly sorted and most constant vibrations ive had in BMW's were traced mainly wheels\tyres or driveline

B12 shocks rebuilt and kit installed. Lowered the front by 50mm+ and rear by 10mm (looked a bit like 'Back to the Future's' Delorean before). Now the car is level with front and back wheels about 10mm inside wheel arch. Handling is significantly improved. Previous suspension was stock 325 coupe with Sacks shocks all round. The shocks had probably done close to 100k's and still seemed ok until the Bilsteins went in. Either the billi's are a crap-load better or the old shocks were buggered. I suspect the matching of the Billi's to the Eibach spring has also helped. Corners that were previously 'on-edge' are now effortless. Installed an e46 purple rack - took a bit of getting used to. Almost curbed some corners the first time due to turn memory on the steering wheel being wrong for the purple rack. Now I'm used to it I like it. Is a bit heavier. Had a bad vibration in the rear. It didn't change while cornering at all so thought it might be the diff. Changed frequency with speed but didn't change in level if going from accel to decel at light loads. The local shop thought it was the diff. The diff was 3.07 and while great at 100km in 6th (2200 rpm) all the shift change points were wrong for most corners requiring either lots of revs two gears down or out of the power band in one gear down. It gave me the excuse to change from 3.07 to 3.46. The 3.46 is much better even after only driving on it for a short time. Didn't fix the vibration issue though. Went back to the shop today and put it on the hoist again. The left rear has some noise and if you hold the spring you can feel it give a kick about once per wheel turn. It's going back in on Monday for the rear left wheel bearing. Last time it was in I'd asked them to do the bearing but they were sure it was the diff... Power steering pump is buggered. During the engine swap we put the M52 oil filter housing on the engine which caused some issues with the power steering pump (wasn't told about it - they just made it fit). I discovered the guys at the shop had the mounting of the power steering pump machined so it would fit. Now I have to get the replacement machined so it will fit. Most likely I'll go back to the M50 oil filter housing soon so everything fits up standard. I really want to fit the S50 oil filter housing but finding one is difficult. I'm changing oil about every 4000km because it goes dark brown at about this time and the lifters start getting noisy. It's really easy to tell when the oil is buggered - one day the car is good when started, the next it sounds like a tractor - change the oil and it's perfect again. It's always round 4000km it goes. I suspect an oil cooler will extend the oil life but I just can't find the S50 oil filter housing anywhere. Might have to buy a really expensive one from overseas... The repaint is getting closer, probably another 6-8 weeks before it goes in. Photo's to follow the new paint job. Have discovered the front and rear window trims are fitted with the glass. Luckily I just got a big chip in my front windscreen so that will get done under insurance. The local glass guys recon they can remove the rear window without breaking it. So, when the repaint goes ahead it will be a full glass-out job so the edges will be perfect. The front window and trim will get replaced by my insurance the rear will just get refitted with a new trim I pay for. The current trim has shrunk and will probably get wrecked during window removal anyway. Not sure what to do about the sun-roof. I never use it and the mechanism has failed 3 time already (broken now). I actually eurothaned round the seal to stop water leaks years ago (so it can't open). Thinking about removing it for the repaint then sealing it up again.

Don't think the other half would be seen dead in a Swift. Normally takes the M5 damn it.

tough call to make, well done. Karma will undoubtedly catch up with the little toe-rag who misrepresented the sale. And top marks for an honest description! It's good buying at $3k, given the way e30 prices are going.

Stop start in an M5, be glad it’s not working. A decent battery charger that can charge different battery types (AGM/Calcium/Lead) should be able to keep it topped up.

90,000 miles in the first year of ownership! That’s about what my car has now, after 18 years. So cool

Trademe. What a steaming turd it's become. It was bad when I left NZ a few years back. And now that I am back it is so much worse. It is just littered with overseas sellers peddling their utter trash products. We have no way of rating the products. Just the seller. Of which nobody bothers to do. If you are going to allow all this sh*t on the site they need to change to a Amazon style rating system. We need product reviews and ratings. 5000+ 5 star seller ratings doesn't help me see if the product I am buying from them is junk.

To all those who don’t believe in the E92 M3 and those contemplating buying one, just do it, after you find the right one of course. Searched for almost three years for my NZ new Competition Pack, found it, bought it, love it. I have just completed a 2200 kms road trip in 96 hours around the North Island. Loved every second of it; main roads, back roads, cruising, hooning. The car is capable, quick and an absolute pleasure to drive. The last sector of my road trip was Mercer to Whangarei - 215 kms at cruising and ‘slightly’ over legal speeds. 18 litres of 98. Unless I’m mistaken that’s 8.4 l/100kms. That is hard to believe from a car with grunt to burn, a noise to die for, and an M3 badge on its tail. Don’t know anything about the 335i but this I do know, as my BMW mechanic tried to push me that way as well, a 335i is not and never will be an M3.

Diff finished & back in car now. The Euro Surgeon boys spied some tears in the floor too, it's time for plates. My cage builder (Chubb Racing) is planning to build some extra reinforcement for the shock towers at the rear at the same time. I certainly haven't helped things here by stiffening up the rear so much. Winter projects: Fix tears, build rear section to roll cage / subframe supports (underway as above) Make a GTR bonnet (to be fair this is more GT Refinishers than me, but finally get it sorted). I have scored a spare aluminium m3 bonnet & GTR vents that they can chop up and play round with. Get yet another boot, replace wing mounts & uprights with billet items, possibly flush mount to the underside of the boot & strengthen (my current spare boot is warped to hell from the current wing mounts). I wouldn't mind making a 'quick-release' loom for the boot as well so I can swap them over easier. It currently takes me around 30m, most of which is mucking around feeding wiring through holes. Sort out rear diffuser - this has actually been designed & built already (one of the ex-Rocket Lab guys designed & built it for me) but has yet to be finished & installed on the car Remove plastidip from the e39 wheels and fix them properly (this is just laziness on my part) ??? I've had the windscreen replaced while the car has been sitting around, and will be looking at ways to protect the glass further from rock chips when I get my hands on it again - watch for results. Only pic I've got of this car from the past couple of months ?
