8 pointsI got a new e46 wagon to replace Babara. I'm super excited about it, she drives great, and I have some upgrade plans. I bought it from Jon @E30 325i Rag-Top, he was great to deal with, and has looking after the car really well - I'm still going through the stacks of service history paperwork. The car is a 2004 e46 330D msport touring with six speed manual - here are some photos I took just a few minutes after I bought it; It has a bunch of options like headlight washers, parking distance control, cruise control, factory bluetooth, rain sensing wipers, steering wheel controls, auto headlights etc. Its awesome to drive and has heaps of power, but I have lots of plans for upgrades; 1. Electric fan mod 2. Change interior to black, or dye the existing grey one 3. Refurb the wheels and get 245/40/18 tyres on the back 4. Replace shocks for bilsteins 5. Chip tune 6. Black grills 7. Full detail and clean when the Auckland water restrictions are over 8. Upgrade speakers 9. Paintless dent removal on the little supermarket carpark dings 10. Fix broken fuel filler door 11. Upgrade towbar wiring 12. Polish all the lights 13. Strengthen the subframe mounts 14. Switch out the mph cluster for a kmph cluster

4 pointsA relatively successful Pick a part mission after the meet today, found an Orient blue sedan with a good bumper, but I don't need it anymore!! Took the passenger wing mirror though, got 2 good HVAC panels, one has NO broken buttons, like it has never been used! Got a wheel to replace the buckled one because it was just lying on the ground , got a pollen filter housing with alarm bonnet switch and the metal clip that holds it on, got the correct number plate mount with the chrome strip, another donor dash to rob stepper motors from, both air inlet pipes for the a/c unbroken!! And some other bits and bobs, now to fit it all....

3 pointsParked the M5 up for the arvo and gave one of these a workout. Still prefer much slower M5 though!
-
2 pointsJon has looked after the car religiously, and I plan on doing the same. Jon was excellent to deal with, and I will be making a project thread for this car soon.
-
2 pointsNot possible with the way any warranty system works, they get just as annoyed with lack of parts as anyone
-
1 pointApparently $100k spent. Custom interior and bodywork, M30B35 Turbo, LSD, made to order BBS wheels etc Odd that it hasn't been certed.
-
1 pointI followed the auction for it on TM 3 year back when the original builder couldn't get a cert. It eventually was put up for $1 Reserve and went for $13k.
-
1 pointThese would have been going on my race car. I would not have trusted a repair job. I was going to replace the barrel. I would say these wheels are the spares/damaged wheels from a race car. Hence their poor condition. BBS tax collection has taken place on this auction.

1 pointPretty unlikely to get what you're after for less than 10k, unless you go for an automatic. Even then you'll still want a grand or two to fix any issues or at the very minimum to buy a scan tool to go with the car. Which will save you time/money fixing issues.

1 pointi like the idea of all black interior like door cards centre console carpets etc but keep the grey seats. could be a bit different and much less work
-
1 pointyeah - $25k for a non-certed uber-modified unfinished e30 4-door. On this occasion I'd need to say "better your money than mine". Any certifier is going to be calling for a sh#t-ton of work before that gets a plate (or insurance).

1 pointI completely missed this one too! Wow. Great score Nathan!

I brought this car over from the UK personnally, to use as a tow unit for my racecar with enough room for all my race gear, which it did admirably for many years and over 50,000 miles in my posession. Only looking to sell as it's not being used now I have a company car and the wife has a smaller car for her daily. Looking for $7,000 for a Bimmersporter, hoping to save the pain of the tyre kickers off of TradeMe More photos to come once I have chance to take some better ones.

1 pointThe 10j would sell reasonably quick i would think, i think all LM barrels are the same so someone would grab it as a spare no doubt. Buying 2nd hand wheels are a risk as who knows what they have been through so by your logic, new reps are better than 2nd genuine as they will be straight $200 was the price I got to have it repaired

1 pointSo by now you will have worked out I pointed to the wrong "Jon"... ? Good work on the new acquisition, I'm looking forward to the progress mate!

1 pointJust to follow up on my previous post... yes, the RE003's worked well. They surprised me by how much grip they had in the wet and they also worked well in the dry. For someone like me who is over trying to stuff a spare set of wheels and a jack in the car for short sprint events, I like a tyre that I can drive to the event, compete and then drive home Sure there are better tyres out there and semi-slicks would shave a few seconds. But when a sprint event usually only provides a total of about 6 or7 minutes of actual racing time, RE003's are plenty good enough for a bit of all weather fun. Nice road tyre as well. Cheers...

1 pointDrilled and tapped M8 blind holes for mounting bolts, cut 50mm studs and glued in, glued rubber pads on where the bars will mount to the roof rails...
-
1 pointCar is indeed sold to ZERO, it has just driven off down my drive, that was quick! Glad to see she’s gone to a good home with an enthusiast owner.

1 pointHad so much on the plate at the moment, still chipping away at panel work, will upload photos at some point. But in the mean time, a new color that came out on the 440i came out that caught my eye. Artic race blue So decided to order 100ml and spray out on the car again since this seems to be an impossible decision for colour choice Thinking of going that colour because it's such a unique blue, very different looks in different lighting.

1 pointSome onboard if anyone is interested, havent got the gopro set up right, like alot of things it was untested prior to the first stage. Still plenty to learn with the driving too, have the autocross season coming up, along with some rally sprints/hill climbs that'll give me much needed seat time.

1 pointOh boy I found this while i was cleaning out a computer I sold. @BreakMyWindow and I were lucky enough to be around for the Renaissance of import drag racing. This was my Mitsubishi Libero GT, DECEVR was the plate. I forget all the details, but it was somewhere in the 300kw at the wheels territory and running low 11's, heart breakingly close to 10's, i think 11.1 or 11.3, somewhere around there. In this video I accidently turned up at the Muscle Car drags haha, wiped the floor with a few, dropped lips all around. video-1603942363.mp4

1 pointYes I'm a mad man. Posting a general discussion thread about a BMW recall, in a general discussion board, on a BMW orientated forum ? Dealer isn't open at 8pm...

1 pointAgree with you man. I love the tech 2 tourings for sure. The tech 1 vert is receiving a full back to bare metal respray and colour change, full interior retrim, new roof, freshly built motor, basically a restoration. Only thing that won't be factory will be the suspension and wheels. EDIT : And exhaust which I opted for a full Scorpion stainless system to go with my BTB stainless headers. Suspension is going to piss off a few purists but I got the airlift performance 3p3h kit only because I want to be able to raise and lower it accordingly dependent on the road I am driving on. I have also refreshed the rear subframe with super pro poly bushes and put in adjustable bolts for the trailing arms with poly bushes, new control arms for the front, new control arm bushes, everything will either be replaced or refurbished. Show room condition is the aim

1 pointI got offered 40k for my car last year before it was written off. I declined. I think that Tech 2 is beautiful. He actually brought it round here yesterday and I must say, she's a tidy one. But Tech 1 over everything for me

1 pointHigher oil temps + sealed CCV systems = vapour being passed into intake air and burnt? Tolerances now are tighter than ever on engine parts, which is why the vast majority of engines don’t need “breaking in”. Only the “S” engines in the M cars need running in as they have even tighter tolerances.
