Why? This "moron" successfully designed and produced SC's for multiple successful boosted M5x engines. A bunch of BS righteous pricks gave him a hard time for no good reason and he politely persisted and proved said righteous pricks wrong, I'm not sure if you were one of them. I'm not saying the maths above are right or wrong, most of it is above my simple scan but Hyde has proven his SC's work when many said he couldn't do it, you can't dispute the evidence. Edit: and ffs, it simply looks like he's trying to help here, isn't that what forums are for? If you don't agree with his advice that's fine, just don't say it's wrong without providing the necessary adjustments or corrections.

G'day guys, I come for more advice on a matter beyond me. A 1990 E30 316 manual has come up from a neighbour who says he wants 6-7k for it. Rego on hold, no wof, windscreen has cracked, the front left corner has been smacked into something, the rear muffler has been cut off, the steering squeals like a pig when you turn and the breaks might as well not be there at all (very squishy, foot to the floor to get any braking). But, it appears rust free, particularly in the boot which I know has water issues. The gearbox is smooth as anything and it is a real pleasure to drive. However, Im out of my depth here. I have the blind confidence to assume I can work on this car for the most part, but is the price fair? I know Im going to have to sort the brakes out, the front left light housing and fender, windscreen and the exhaust for a WOF. Is 6k a fair price? https://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=PW9797

I forgot I put a bid in on a 1983 505 STI Manual in Turners Dunedin, and now I got it. to get it to Auckland, they want $1150... I wonder if this can be done any better? The Car has the pre interior refresh interior so it looks very much closer to the 504 on the inside.

The last V6 3 series I saw was at a dealer, even more impressive. 😂

Nah different generations despite the overlap. Compare r109 sl

Seems very wasteful - I guess they just crush it because the engine and other major parts will always flag in the system as being from a stolen vehicle so just easier to burn the whole thing.

It's in manual mode and I am using the paddles. Yes it is stock and on the quiet side at lower revs. I disabled the piped-in engine noise using a BMW coding app and the car is quite insulated inside so you don't get much engine noise at low load. In all but the tightest corners I find it better to ride the low-end torque in 3rd rather than rev it out in second, so that also doesn't help Car has enough torque down low that I still need to modulate the throttle until it's straight so at some points it doesn't even sound like I'm accelerating when I am. In some sessions I cracked open the windows a little but this also brings in some wind noise. Maybe I should re-enable the piped-in engine noise, it's a bit phoney but it's fun haha.

Never really agreed with this form of scare mongering. They know this wouldnt be effective if it was some everyday shitbox. Why can't they order destruction via recycling and either have the funds go to police or returned to owners/insurers of the stolen cars? Very wasteful. why pay 5c for coke can when they cant recycle something worth 100x more, just to prove a point? Either way the crim looses their car, But at least it benefits others/ the environment.

The branded glass polishes work but because they are a single stage abrasive they are relatively weak. If you dont have a proper buffer you will probably be looking at 15 minutes per window for moderate improvement or 1 hour per window of hand polishing for total removal. If you can acquire a buffer preferably with a hard foam compounding pad or similar you can do this perhaps 5x faster.

You’re assuming that the owner who had the car taken off him and crushed was the thief of the cars or knew parts were stolen. Story has now reached Driven, with a link to Instagram story, the fact that the judge ordered that the car should be returned and police had to pay out suggest the owner had no knowledge of or part in the thefts. As is often the case innocent buyer has lost out and the criminals not. Why should that make any bit of difference? Both are crimes and the punishment is the same. What the car is shouldn’t matter either, whatever it is, someone has it as their pride and joy. Interesting that the In the crushing video it looks like a lot of valuable parts have been removed - no engine / box / diff / wheels. Wonder if the scrappy is allowed to sell them as they were stolen..??

Interesting thing happened today. A half-decent E30, today, will sell for $4k upwards. Depending on spec (ignoring M3s and MTechs) it could be 15k, possibly more. Interesting side note: classic review sites suggest a Nissan Pulsar, Ford Laser, or Honda Civic as an alternative! New in 1990, a 325i SE retailed in the UK at £20000-21000 (the 4-door was more expensive). At (then) NZD 2.80 = GBP 1.00, that's $56000-59000. I don't know if this is truly representative of prices in NZ, but you can where I did the math. A 1990 Mercedes R129 500SL would have been $257000 in Australia. (I'm being lazy with sourcing info. ) GBP 1.00 = AUD 2.15 at the time, making that 500SL something like $335000 in New Zealand. Potentially five times the price. Guess which is cheaper, now? 😮

Certainly a bit tight in there. I managed to fit it with my own brackets, with a small PWR barrel cooler under the manifold. All up, with water meth and intercooler, you could make less power than a reasonably basic n/a m54 I also take care of (just shy of 300whp) The problem is, and even Hyde has posted sheets showing this, the sc14 cannot produce enough air in the high rpm and the pressure drops dramatically That dyno sheet is reading a whopping 200whp, with calculated crank hp highlighted, and a fairly cold ambient. A healthy standard m50 does 165-170whp at those temps Good on him for trying to make money out of it, but there's a good reason not many people bother. I just don't like the spouted bullsh*t with poor calculations, probably aimed at duping people that don't actually get paid to make cars fast Edit note: after all that though, I wouldn't think twice about throwing an SC14 on my mx5. That would work well

Well, that's good news. Apologies @gjm I was referring to the NZTA web-site rather than your post (which I must have missed).

I used one of those shower cleaners with good results, if you have that around. The ones that are meant to clean water spots from shower glass. Just keep it off the paint, or follow it up with detailer or wax. To keep it clean in future use a glass cleaner with a water repellant coating on the outside, or apply a coating. Helps greatly with visibility in the rain too.

The Merc I bought rego for had been out of rego for 4 months, and not had a WoF since September 2019. I'd forgotten to renew the 'on hold', which means back-rego has to be paid, and simply selected 12 months when renewing online. Rego slip arrived in the post 4 days later.

I have a set in Hamilton but they aren't for ABS cars. I'm guessing yours has ABS.

No the penguin pools drift car used a m52tub28. It still runs the same engine but now with a turbo. Superchargers were a consumable item, to the point it was hard to find good ones as spares. It went reasonably well, but its of my opinion the SC14 is just too small for what's expected of it on these engines, so lifespan is greatly shortened. The mounting of the supercharger bracket was a bit flimsy as well, I had concerns about it but it never gave any trouble. The SC14 is bit of a tight bit trying to jam it between the alternator and intake manifold - not that there is much else options, but it makes the inlet manifold to the supercharger and the rest of the plumbing bit of a nightmare.

Applying virtual power is one thing, however In Germany, there is a law about slandering ones reputation, last I checked the 30 million euro insurance covers the company and the owner. Future accusations from them may result in a lawsuit one may not be able to afford. Thanks for being fair, just and reasonable in the face of ignorance and hate. Should you ever be around these parts, some beers await. 😀 Topic Printed. Abuse of power is one thing, slander another. Even using words like that, you are just a signature away from legal, do take notes. have a great day.

Dear friends, Its amusing and interesting, So much hate and so much misinformation, tall tales and even lies. Monty Python would be proud and one can certainly reach the yellow press with such. In the end I can only wish some of you the very best. I must respond and say, last I checked this 'moron' was on the German newspapers and was meeting the mayor of the city for his contributions: https://wilih.de/neu-stuttgarter-spendet-10-000-einwegmasken - These days hes hanging out with some higher ups at some very big companies in the automotive sector and I heard his company has gone international worth a few million and 6 branches around the world. Last I checked his company was one of the 7 in the world doing what they did. Things crazy morons do. He even gave away a car above to a Charlie from Christchurch whose a member of this forum and he can confirm the false story above, he had run the car low on oil (after a 1200KM Drive back to South Island) and he confirmed it, and he still had a year time to pay. Dont know many people doing that. I must forward this topic to the former director of the MB Kompressor department, so that moron who lives 2 houses away from him, can sit down over a nice evening and have a laugh and remind themselves that the Eaton was only the second option as the original choice was the German designed and lisenced by Ogura SC14 (Wankel AG - https://www.wankel-ag.de/seite1_e.html) and was not an option due to low manufacturing capacity (Toyota buying them all up) Back on topic, We all should respect the beliefs others have, but science is science and has no place but facts. Below are the lowest numbers seen this year. Before and After. Much love and warm regards.

If you genuinely believe anyone is threatening terrorist activity then you have a social obligation to advise the police, that's really important for all of our safety. I'm not aware of any of these off-site actions or accusations so can't speak to their veracity. What we do know is that personal attacks are against Bimmersport rules, that includes calling anyone a moron, or bringing bad blood that may exist in other realities to this forum. Rules can't be selectively applied if they're to have any claim to credibility.

Have to lean towards moronic. The e36 328i @The H. Behemoth sold to a friend @LemonHunter had one particularly interesting modification carried out. That was a VTA catch can spraying oil droplets over the front suspension brakes. The engine (which had low compression) also showed signs of "quality" workmanship too.
