    I would just like to add to the numerous rants pertaining to selling an item on Facebook Marketplace. So I recently listed for sale my 2006 Audi S8 V10 on Trademe (I actually sold it last weekend), and along with it I also listed my 2006 Audi S6 V10 on Facebook Marketplace. I had bought the S6 on a whim for three reasons; it was cheap, had thousands in receipts, and would be some temporary fun. The car has a suspected blown head-gasket. When I went and looked at it there was some oil in the coolant but it wasn't overheating and it was running fine, no bubbles in expansion tank and no milky residue in oil, so I bought it. Drove it over an hour home, bombed around in it for a few days, noticed it was using heaps of coolant and then saw milky residue was starting to form on the oil cap. No worries, the car was primarily bought because it has had a brand new intake manifold costing $4.7K just for the part and new injectors which were over $2K along with a stack of other work such as new high pressure fuel pump seals etc. Along with this its got all the S6 goodies like bucket seats, big brakes, carbon fibre interior trim, bose audio etc etc. If anything happened to the S8 my plan was to take whatever bits I wanted off the S6 and then part out the rest and probably make most of my money back, if not turn a profit. But since I was selling my S8 it made sense to get rid of the S6 which was sitting out on the road doing nothing and I couldn't be bothered parting it out, so onto Facebook Marketplace it went with a price of $4.4K (just wanted what I paid for it which was $4K). Bare in mind the car still runs and drives, has WOF and Rego and is 100% complete, so can either be fixed, at which point its probably worth around 13K or could be parted out for heaps of $$$ too. Well naturally because its cheap I got over 60 messages about it. At least half are the typical "Is this still available", to which I reply and then get left on seen. - I've had at least 5 people pledge to buy the car and then ghost me/not turn up. The most recent example offered to send me a deposit to secure the car, to which I stupidly replied saying "we can just sort this all in one go when you come to collect it", and fast forward 2 days and he does a no show, even though we had discussed loading the car onto his trailer etc etc. - I have one unlikeable individual who messages me daily offering 2.5K and asking when he can come collect it; like bro I can take 2 things off this car and sell them for more than you are offering, and anyway with an attitude like that, I would rather give away the car than sell it to you. - I've been offered countless trades. An E65 730D (which honestly looked quite nice)... until I was told it has an air suspension levelling fault, manual Suzuki Swift, NZ New E39 530i M Sport + 1K (was actually very tempted by that one), a tuned 1.8T Audi A3.... with no wof and reg, Mazda 6... but DIY painted orange and with a massive rear wing etc etc. - But what takes the cake for the best trade I have been offered was a straight swap for a de-registered Dodge Caliber needing a clutch master cylinder. Like yeah what a great deal, maybe if you throw in 5K my way I will consider... To add some salt to the wound the car decided to snap its bonnet latch the other day so I can't even run it for long because I can't put coolant in it, so my original plan of putting some headgasket stop leak in and seeing how many minutes/hours/days/weeks of added fun I can get can't be done. Spent 3 hours trying to sort it but you really need an inspection camera to sort it and I don't want to spend any money on this car lol. So at this point I'm so fed up with them all I almost have enough motivation to start parting the car out just to prove a point, especially when I have people requesting parts off it already... until I remember that I will have to deal with people like this when I'm selling parts for it. Heaps of money to be made though with the gearbox, intake manifold, injectors, ignition coils, cats, wheels, bucket seats, HID lights etc. Hell even the block would be worth some money for someone to make a coffee table out of! But can I be bothered? Thats the real question. But anyway, vent over.

    205 will be fine - had 205 on 8.5's and were barely stretched. 225's will be excessive i have them on my 9/9.5's and they are very large - you will see on saturday at the drury meet Nice choice on the wheels though - ive been looking at them also as an extra set of wheels

    It's a dick move, but also a typical move for dealers, because scummy. Undercut others just so you can make a profit. Real cool.

    Which stealer bought it? Will probably see it again in a month with a price tag of $60k I reckon.

    Seems like a sharp price if its been maintained - it certainly does not appear to have been pampered from the photos?

    Yeah these don't come up often. Seems a reasonable price as well. Won't last long I'm guessing.

    So, it has been a while since I posted on this thread. Took the head off, found gasket had blown between 5 & 6. Head components were worn beyond reasonably re using. Looked at various options (including buying a parts car - but that is another story...)and decided to keep this car original and to rebuild the cylinder head. Big thanks to Jon at Begley Motor Works who has completed the rebuild - new valves, guides, rockers, camshaft, seals etc - virtually anything that moved was replaced. Bottom end seems to be all good, as Jared suggested. Car is now back and running sweetly, and hopefully I will take it to the BMW Nationals in a week or so. Meanwhile, I have purchased the parts car, only to find it is too good to wreck, so another unexpected restoration project about to begin.

    Yeah that's separate springs and strut. The collar is for making the spring captive against the body/perch. I'm 99% certain.

    Ugh, also trying to sell my Gravel Express on Facebook/TradeMe, and I feel you there. So many stupid offers, or "I'll send a mate around to look at it", and nothing ever gets organised. No, I don't want you Lifted hilux that's been abused all the time. No, I won't drive it to Nelson, I already told you it's un-certed and doesn't have a WoF.

    like i said, in all fairness they did their best and didn't charge me for the whole time it took. i was asking for something they don't normally do. that said; they told me they'd sort it out a fix and get back to me and i still haven't heard from them.

    So glad I got to see Tom @M3_Power driving his one hard. These ones are likely just to end up in some collection overseas where they will barely see daylight let alone the track. Thanks for the ride around Pukekohe Tom. Loved it.

    Depends on the brand, some run narrow others wide but 205mm is 8.07 inchs so should be pretty straight

    Ordered some wheels - been looking at these for a while but shipping / tax made me hesitate. https://www.classiceuroparts.com/product/16-wheel-set-for-bmw-1502-1602-2002-tii-e21-e30-alpina-4x100-staggered-7j-8j/ Maxilite Alpina Replicas - yes, I know... but these a quality, TUV certified wheel and half the price of Alpina 30-35 year old cast wheels which may or may not need repainting. Also means I can afford to keep my 15" weaves and change up the look as I like. I found their Australian distributor who was a fair bit cheaper, and will split the consignment so I am saving on the shipping (vs US / Europe) and the duty - still not cheap, but much more palatable. I went for a staggered setup - purely for looks of course - more lip and filling out the rear guards - 16x7 and 16x8. Now I need to decide what rubber to put on the rear - 225/45/16 is the correct size but options here are very slim indeed. I may run 205/50/16 all-round as there are plenty of quality options in that size.

    I doubt it sold for 35k as you assume Gaz. But yes it probably did sell in trade, and quickly as the comments show. Lets wait and see😉

    Hard to tell from that photo alone, have you got a picture of the full set of parts you got? Many “coilover” sets run true springs over the struts on the front but then revert to the seperate spring and shock on the rear for BMWs. Lots of body strengthening required to safely change from the factory set up to coil overs in the rear.

    Depends on if you want it. Sam at Auckland City asked me how up to date on the progress I want to be and he is delivering those updates regularly.

    Managed to make a little bit of progress between uni lectures, car passed its WOF, dropped 2 wheels off to have the 245 semi-slicks fitted so I can test fit them once I try install coilovers hopefully this weekend. Still need to find a pair of C spanners to adjust the coilovers with somewhere. Also got to try figure out if the rears are true coilovers or if the spring goes next to the strut, this suspension stuff is new to me so not entirely sure just by looking at them... Also cleaned the surface rust off and painted the vacuum canister bracket.

    Keep in mind anything adjustable or not provable as OE equivalent will likely require certification so factor in an additional $750+ If doing a manual conversion, most kits come with with a brake pedal / clutch pedal combo. The minute you touch the brake pedal you now need certification (if detected by the person doing a warrant) - additional cost. Manual conversion may also require driveshaft hoops depending on the certifier. Because of where I live and the rather limited certification options I was forced to do 2 hoops...

    The BMW 1939 327/28 Roadster had the first triple carbs on any BMW, So Alpina is a little late on the scene. Bet the Alpina went like stink though.

    Just wanted to add in here about R & D again. Had a positive experience with them on Friday. When it went in a couple of weeks back from the suspension programming issue, they noticed that both front sway bar links were worn out. Had them replaced on Friday, and also got a chance to talk with the mechanic who was dealing with my programming issue. He was great to chat to and very very knowledgeable. So praise where it's due 👍

    BMW Hamilton has my exact order spec on their demonstrator so I took a quick roadtrip there this morning. Seeing it in my spec in the flesh has got the excitement going just a bit hahaha.

    So today was the day. My iX build order is in and confirmed as BMW New Zealand order number 32! Currently looking at a May/June delivery. Pretty excited, not going to lie! My order specs are below: * Xdrive 40 MSport * Mineral White Metallic (A96) * 22" Aerodynamic wheels 1020 Bicolour 3D (1LD) * Amido Black Leather Interior (SCHA) * ENHANCEMENT PACKAGE - Sky Lounge Panorama Roof (407) - Soft Close Doors (323) - Laser Lights (5AZ) * Active Ventilated Seats (453) I had the option to forward purchase a dealer demonstrator but that car has the crystal interior appliques which I really don't like and lacks ventilated seats. I figured I'd be better served just ordering the spec I want. A few pics from the configurator are attached.
