Is this of the age where it needs an ADS and GT1 connection like the E36?

Thats one of the problems with dealers that sit on stock for ages instead of pricing it for quick turnover; it all just starts to age badly and get/look neglected. There are a couple of dealers down here that sit on their stock for ages and the cars suffer in the sun.

Not DCT, but has Sport Automatic Transmission option. Still a 6HP19. https://5series.net/forums/e60-discussion-2/rudys-full-review-2008-550i-sport-automatic-42608/

That thing has some nice options ticked. Those seats and steering wheel are boss.

The alarming regularity bits fall off them, inside and out? 😂 Every time I think nah, im over E36s, one like this comes up for sale and I pine for another E36.

A super tidy manual 325/8i in an interesting colour has always been worth about that. Stunning car

I thought mods/admins could see deleted threads and posts?

I'd get a good indi to do it, rather than a dealer, and certainly not AA or the likes. I had one of the dealers up there PPI my R53 before i bought it, and it was a joke, I think AA would've done better and they are known to be rubbish. Dealers dont really care about "older" cars.

Im 80% sure the one im talking about had the KIWI1M plate too...

Whats the rego/vin? Pretty easy to confirm.

Im thinking more the guard/bumper gap, which on most 1 series is big, but you could almost fit a foot in the gap on this one.
-
The panel gaps around the front bumper look on the piss, so be worth checking for damage in the front.

According to RealOEM you should have option 200 if you have a DPF. That car does not have option 200, so shouldnt have a DPF. RealOEM also indicates that the DPF equipped cars have a different rear muffler, but both still point down. There is another option if the car has a DPF and M Aero package together.

There will be a point where adding HP is pointless. Can the rest of the car handle 500+hp, and where are you even going to use that much power, a beached whale is hardly a track focused car.

Oh sh*t, @Olaf will be in here to give you a stern talking to about them cats ? How does it sound now, more raspy?

To be fair there isnt a lot with an automated clutch that enjoys reversing up a hill. I know my Golf GTI with DSG wasnt a fan.

Only under certain conditions/ages ranges, which only really covers pretty modern stuff. All the old stuff with cats that have been cut out are fine by the VIRM. I've seen cars failed at workshops i've been involved with for excessive smoking, only for them to suddenly have a new WOF a few days later, presumably by taking it somewhere else that didnt care as much. Its too subjective and based on the inspector at the time. At least with emission testing its a hard and fast number. Meet it or fail. Of course there are ways to "trick" emissions testing or clean the emission up temporarily, there are whole industries overseas for additives and tricks to help get through MOT and the likes. Nothing is perfect. Still, at the end of the day, even emission testing wont help. The people that have the dirtiest running cars are likely the ones that cant afford to fix it if the WOF fails (or dont care enough to get a WOF), so will just drive sans WOF. A couple of fines are probably cheaper than a new cat or an engine rebuild to clean it up. Its the "Kiwi" way, bodge it along until you can bodge no more, and then dump it in a paddock and replace it with an equally dirty running shitheap. Rinse and repeat. Dont get me started on dealers selling imports with snow tires ?

More like Aliexpress special

I like sh*t old British Cars, and would be disappointed if it came down to me not being able to import one because someone behind a table thinks they aren't "special" or "desirable", in their opinion. We should be doing anything we can to increase the average age of our daily use fleet though; there are too many old shitters that barely (or maybe dont) pass WOFs, and wouldnt stand a chance of passing an emissions test. The big downside to that is that it will greatly disadvantage lower income families that still need a car to get around, because they cant afford the latest model so will either continue using their old car illegally (no WOF), cant have a car at all, or will have to get a loan at some seriously bad rates to get a "new" car. Hell, my daily is 13 years old now, and even thats considered old now. What I dont want to see is a cash for clunkers situation where people are scrapping perfectly good cars to move into a newer, but still sh*t, car. Its a false economy.

Some dealers also have friendly deals with their local compliance center. I believe NZTA has tightened up on that a bit, but there will still be shady deals getting through.

Its the age old thing of just because thats what you spent on it, doesnt mean its worth that much. Its a very nice car, and awesome in manual, but not 30k awesome. I'd also want proof the engine and box were "brand new" not second hand as that changes things.

Should've rotary swapped it for maximum hate.

E: Why am i even arguing? Its like beating your face against a wall in this place.

Thats BS. My old Macbook Pro lasted 7 years without a service, so cost me nothing extra above its initial cost, and would have gone at least a few more years had i not spilled coffee on it. It still ran all the latest software, and had no issues. My replacement MBP should outlast the old one, since I'll be taking more care with my coffee now. I have a windows 10 based gaming computer, but using it for anything other than gaming its gross. My Apple is just so much better for daily use.
