E90 4 cylinder models (N46) are exempt from these types of problems with there inbuilt oil and inhibitor recycling systems which does prevent rust, makes a mess and causes heart breaking tension on peoples wallets.

Funny my old e36 m3 has done 450k kms and we had it on the dyno with another 3.0 m3 with 130k km and there was only 0.5kw difference between them

If it is still being updated, E46 CSL and E9 3.0 CSi here.

Do you actually need an analog output or just 4 square wave pulses per rpm like the hall effect sensor used to put out? If this is the case you could use a max9924 (although qsop chips are tiny) or an lm1815. Anyone know of a qsop adapter that is available locally
  15. 1 point
From what I understand is you want to take a pulse input (this is not a analog input!), convert it to speed, then output that as a 0-5v output ? If it is a pulse input, you want to use a digital interrupt, and count the number of pulses in a given amount of time and you can calculate speed from that. Are you going to be measuring RPM or do you want to calculate KPH? You can then map your min and max speed to 0-255 to output a PWM signal that can be filtered to your 0-5v output. Is the magnetic sensor just a reed switch or is it a VR sensor? There is an example of reading RPM from a fan here, which will give you a better idea.: http://playground.arduino.cc/Main/ReadingRPM An example of filtering the PWM output to provide a 0-5v analog output: https://arduino-info.wikispaces.com/Analog-Output I've done the same thing before to build a tacho.

Just going to turn an output on and off as the switch opens / closes. Also, that wont compile. it has errors, and its not smart to have delays in your ISR. Micheal, you can also get dedicated frequency to voltage converter chips if you were not aware of that. http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm2907-n.pdf

Vehicle is currently on Trade Me. Get him to give me a call or PM me for more details. Cheers

Never mind the fitment of the boot, I need to cut the bolts shorter on the wing. This is bolted into place but the boot isn't attached properly. Fit is tight on a standard e30 bonnet, but I'll glue it after I get it all back from the painters. Cheers again Hans.

yea I know I like the look and operation of the factory units with the controls on the wheel etc but I cant handle only 6 discs of music and no blutooth , sub outputs , usb etc so any way ,no wires where cut in this process so can be put back to std if needed

Try clay first, send me a PM if you are happy to goto manukau and I'll put the buffer on it for you if you want, not sure where you are.

ive had great success using a small dab of autosol on a rag. Will need to give the paint a real good buff and wax afterwards though, but i never lost any gloss or anything, just took the traded paint off.

I have had great success with isopropyl alcohol before when I accidently swiped part of the bumper on a painted wooden fence (I know, I know, but it was really tight spot) and the paint from that wiped right off. You can get it at a pharmacy and it is usually pretty cheap for a small bottle; like $6-7 or so. I mostly use it for cleaning thermal paste off CPUs but it is a great solvent because it is pure enough that it leaves no residue.

So. Lets take the past few days shall we? You helped fund other Kiwis to go to Gallipoli to celebrate our historic 100 year anniversary of the ANZAC landings. [see: http://beehive.govt.nz/release/pm-attend-gallipoli-anzac-day-commemorations] You helped fund civil defence specialists to go and ensure the safety of your fellow Kiwis who are living on the isolated Chatham Islands who have taken a bit of beating from Cyclone Pam. [see: http://beehive.govt.nz/release/minister-thanks-all-involved-cyclone-response] You helped contribute 2.5 million dollars to our Pacific neighbours of Vanuatu who are facing terrible destruction and the aftermath of Pam which includes hygiene and sanitary issues, food shortages, health problems, not to mention deaths. Oh, yeah, you have also helped get many Kiwis home who were stuck there. [see: http://beehive.govt.nz/release/nz-aid-flight-tanna] You have helped fund the development of arguably one of the most neglected but extremely necessary parts of NZ Health system which is Mental Health services for young people (read: depression). [see: http://beehive.govt.nz/release/youth-accessing-primary-mental-health-services] $150,000 (baseline MP yearly salary) x 120 MPs = $18 million. A drop in the bucket in the tax collection world. We don't live in a communist society - so look to live elsewhere if you would like to live in a place where the Govt can dictate market house prices (freedom of market, supply and demand anyone?). This. There looks to me no plan just suggestion. But like most suggestions it needs credible policy framework. This will be years off if it even gets that far. And you are right it will be a logistical nightmare. Exactly the actual ability to implement such a policy is minute. You ask an overseas retailer to add 15% on each transaction that 'appears' to be from NZ I.P? Then buyers use a proxy and make it look like they are elsewhere. You say POS charges will just be made when your debit/credit card is charged by an overseas vendors? How do you monitor that - especially when charges offshore could be made when travelling. You say the responsibility is on the buyer to register all offshore purchases with the Taxman at the end of each financial year? So how do to catch people out? Monitor all NZs incoming mail? And then try to differentiate between what is a gift and what is a purchase? No, no, no. Will not ever be feasible (financially or logistically) ever. My view? Its nice rhetoric to small to medium business owners but it ain't gonna happen. If it could have happened, 7th year into a fiscally prudent National Government, it would have already.

The joke of the situation with buying from NZ companies is they don't stock very many items and they have to get it from overseas. They want to charge you freight and then add their 300% margin. They don't even try and be competitive. The 15% GST will make very little difference. I pay the GST on many items anyway. I buy online because it's much easier and very much cheaper.
