4 pointsSorry but thats completely wrong landlines are 50v DC constant and a ringtone is 75AC. they are not passive analogue phones all run on 48v dc digital phones like an early push button phone had no power cord but still need voltage to drive the transistors exchanges have huge generators to power the lines when power went out if that runs out your phones all go dead just get a voltmeter out if you don't believe me

2 pointsBought myself a new car on the weekend. Got an e46 325i. Good points: Manual Motorsport Good spec Blue 2 owner vehicle - previous owner bought in UK approx. 2005 and bought it back with him Decent service history Bad points: Covered in scratches and dings Seats are worn No cup holders! Aftermarket headunit works fine but is quite dated Heater fan surges a little To do list (this will grow): Get it serviced and looked over - I bought it without getting a PPI as I have found the manual cars change hands pretty fast! Good cut and polish Dent Magician for the little stuff Leather interior Cup holders - Done New shift knob and boot Update to in car audio - has Alpine h/u and speaker upgrade with amp in boot but sub missing... Sub added :-) Window tints - see leather interior Car is nice to drive and so smooth. Might see some of you at one of the coffee meets soon :-)

2 pointsTheres a fair bit of truth to that. I find getting caught up with cosmetics really takes up way too much focus and creates this odd obsession to keep it mint looking. It just detracts from sorting out the core mechanical parts & ultimately the driving experience. The most fun I've had in cars are ones that are mechanically sorted & lifted in power etc, without too much focus on the exterior. Depends what you want though

2 pointsThey're really designing cars so only trained technicians with unique service tools can work on them. So few of these cars will be able to be repaired in 20-30 years time. This is why I love 80s-90s tech. Fewer bullshite designs

2 pointsi take pride in the fact i care little to how my cars look, its all about the inside

2 pointsMy opinions based on 3.2 experience and general awareness: Solid budget, you should get a set of good tyres out of the change from 8k! Would be good to know if it was a new unit from BMW (i.e. still has the inherant problems) or a refurb (which will probably have better seals). Either way, since it's only two years old I'd leave it for the time being. Spend $100 to get the car on a dyno and see what the output looks like. It's difficult to find somebody to do the VANOS and provide a written warranty but a single VANOS overhaul and valve adjustment at the same time would be 6-8 hours work + parts. Yes, check them all and replace them with OEM rubber with (IMHO) the exception of the RTAB's which I'd recommend poly for (I use Super Pro and they're perfect, no additional NVH). FCAB's can be pressed out, you do not need to replace the arms if they're straight. You can spend crazy money on replacing all bushes and some do last for a long, long time so I'd suggest only the ones you need. As per bushings. Do you need adjustible dampers? If not (or you don't know) then you shouldn't get them because you're unlikely to get a return on investment. I use non adjustable Bilstein's with Eibach springs and think they're wonderful. Others recommend Koni's but I'm not a fan. Figure ~$2,000 for all four corners including springs? Yes, it's easy to swap them over but if you have air-con access is limited and you'll need a medium depth deep socket. Can lend you one if required. Be careful not to strip threads in the aluminium timing chain case! 5 minute job with the correct tool. Why? Get it in ASAP, you'll love it. Get new p/s hoses and a new reservoir installed at the same time, cut the return(?) line from the rack and use a worm-drive clamp with the new hose. Hose and clamps cost me about $30 from a hydraulics place, reservoir was about $50, factor in a couple of hours to install it all with a lift. Replace tie-rods at the same time. Engine mounts - I use Vibra Technics but they can be expensive, OEM is fine. Only replace if they're shot. Suspension reinforcements, including RTAB pockets, is a must if you're doing anything other than OEM suspension and bushes but even then, I'd do them anyway. So RTAB, rear sway bar, rear shock towers and for yours the front shock towers too. X-Brace if you don't have one (~$150) Calliper rebuild kit with new seals, perhaps new stainless pistons if yours are in poor shape ($20 x 4) Braided clutch hose (GBP60 or so - get a UK one NOT a USA one) Braided brake lines (US$120 or so) - totally optional Exterior window seals and weather stripping (Maybe $100 - $150 all up from BMW) Water pump + thermostat + pulleys + tensioners + belts (about US$300 all up from Schmiedmann) Cabin micro filter ($40?) There will be more... Laundry list in here: http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/47049-m3an-e36-m3-plog-project-log/ Happy to elaborate if required. Edit: talk to SJ (EUROHO) about the stuff you don't want to do yourself or one of our sponsors here of course!

2 pointsBrent likes to avoid trademe costs by using one auction for all his cars, just changes the details You'd probably also have noted it was a wagon (I think) with 270,000 km.
-
2 pointsBut it does shorten the total period that they're allowed to cause carnage!
-
2 pointsThere are ten (count 'em in the photo) buttons for each front seat control. Now that's something for you Teutonic control freaks out there!

1 pointHey Guys new here and new to owning a BMW (Dad and Brother both have had lots of them throughout the years). After a bit of looking around and test driving I found the ONE for MEEEE. Its Brents old e36 328i. I plan on doing some upgrades over time. For now I have just put her on a pair of m-sport wheels and given her a good clean. Brent is a good guy and it was easy dealing with him. Also thanks to my IRL friend zero for helping me out with looking at cars and giving me good advice. Mods already done by Brent. black with m3 vader seats lowered on ebaichs with koni adjustable shocks 3.15 diff headers . m50 manifold e46 bigger front brakes m20 6.5kg solid mass flywheel

1 pointOr fit an alligator clip onto each wire, clip one on each nipple, and then get someone to phone the line... the initial tingle will be replaced by a strong rythmic tremor that'll make you scream (No, I didn't try it!) Not as bad as the exercycle I wrote off yesterday after it fed 115VAC at 8 Amps into me through the heart rate monitor pads. In hindsight, doing the Electrical Safety test BEFORE the functional test would have been a good idea.
-
1 pointI was fortunate enough to get a drive of this when Conor did the test drive, and it was maaaaad. I can only imagine what it was like with the supercharger. I like the new wheels - I prefer them to the ones Brent had on it.

1 pointSent my LSD up to Kayne B to rebuild and add extra friction plates. Wish I had a before photo, The diff was originally from a near 400,000km M325i, then spent 2 years in my touring. Was covered in oil, completely dirty and I wasn't really sure it had any lock up left in it. Looks brand new now. Very impressed. Big thanks to Hans for getting it up there and back for me. Have one part of the loom left which should hopefully arrive tomorrow. I've been blown away how much work is involved in doing this, I definitely underestimated it but I'm in too deep now haha. The wiring is just crazy, bits all over the place. Once I get that final loom all the air intake side can finally go on.

1 pointI worked on one at CTC just over a month ago, went up for the check flight too. Very nice aircraft! Turbo sounds good at idle, and generally way better than the DA20s. CTC have a 172 with the diesel conversion and Garmin 1000 etc, supposedly way more efficient than the old Lycomings, but that's not hard!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1 pointAnd dumped.I love a big dirty Detroit diesel screaming it's tits off. Check out this badass peterbilt lifting a wheel off the ground!

1 pointMore progress, thanks to daylight saving... Cleaning out the threads with M12 x 1.5 tap New pilot bearing and flywheel fitted, flywheel bolts torque to 77 ft-lb, 105Nm. Clutch plate fitted with alignment tool Pressure plate fitted, M8 bolts torque to 18 ft-lb, 24 Nm. Now i just have to wrangle the gearbox back in!!

1 pointAwesome! I briefly owned a 2002 530i m sport which I have now given to my sister. Lovely cars Looking forward to pics man

1 pointWelcome, check out the Sunday monthly meet in Auckland, great if you can get along
-
1 pointOh. Wll he had it first. Il change it as to DSCOFF original, my pass word cant be changed for 60 days.
-
1 pointJust a note. On my 3.0 with AC i used a spanner to change my tensioner. was easy with only a couple of small things removed to make space (fan shroud wing iirc). Details are in my old project thread.
-
1 pointAnother before and after: And the borbets before they got a proper polish So far I've also bought a rear disc set up as this currently has hubs, and an m40b18 which I'm planning on whacking whatever turbo I find first onto the side of... Will probably get the new old trailing arms and discs fitted on Friday night. May do the rear subframe too if the bushes look shot. So rest of the list so far is Manual box Lsd Exhaust E36 rack conversion (standard one is leaking like a sieve) Turbo set up Bigger, better tires. Dumb dents fixed. Open to any suggestions for other mods too! Sent from my D6653 using Tapatalk

1 pointMaybe look at the system they have in Finland because something needs to be done.
-
1 pointReinforcements would be fairly down on the list in terms of priority, unless there is already signs of cracking or tearing (or youre going to throw all mechanical sympathy out the window and thrash the pants off it). Bushes, joints and suspension would be my priority.

1 pointI carry it here in Botany It's $23.81 +Gst for a 1.5 litre bottle retail

1 pointAn N42 that survived 274,952km?!?!?! Should bubble wrap it and sell it back to Germany. Or whoever else wants to buy proof of the car gods' miracles BS aside, B30+ZF would be rather nice!

1 pointHi all, Anyone interested in a potential project? selling my E36 328i, Automatic, Cosmos Black Coupe, Msport Kit, but has standard steering wheel so i assume at some point it was Msport kitted but not from factory? Bilstein setup on the rears, Boge on the front? LOL, previous owner to blame for that! But still feels tight. mileage sitting @131, XXX km's atm. I have owned the vehicle for a few years and never really used it much, probably travelled 8k in the past few years, have more than a few vehicles.. It is Definitely not a show car, there is a ding in the drivers door ( Pics to follow ) M3 Mirrors, and various paint imperfections. I purchased with the intention of doing her up, and did to a certain point but it is no longer a project i am attending to, will be travelling overseas next year so grab a quick bargain! It comes with partial service history, Jap import, previous owner was not an enthusiast.... i will be booking it in to BMworkshop Botany for a general service and checking for any maintenance work to be done. I am most interested to let this go to the BMW club members for a good price, $4250 ONO, feel free to get in contact via this post, PM, or contact number below. Also have a 3 Spoke E36 Msport steering wheel ( Yet to be installed ) which will complete the Interior Msport style. Pics will follow soon. Regards Peter. Contact me on : 02108439606

1 pointAlso Spark (New Zealands actual largets consumer of electricity) will be reducing copper landlines over the coming years to a much more efficient fiber. I dont think we will see the cost savings passed our way however.
-
1 pointJust keeping it for now, in case I put it back in the future for whatever reason. Don't even know what they are worth.
