Hi All, just wanted to let everyone curious or posted here that the car was found, in Torbay of all places. Police has done their forensics and suggests a “deep clean??!” not knowing who’s been in the car. I haven’t been able to see it and won’t be able to see it till insurance is confident car is what it was before claim. from what I can see from photos was mostly bumper damage and I’ve been told only the battery is missing, not sure about engine etc, but Car is heading to BM Workshop for diagnosis and then German Kollisons for panel and paint. thanks for the discussion everyone. Keep your cars safe.

Put on gloss black mirror caps and grille - quite impressed with the fit and finish of these eBay specials. Might leave the exterior for now, I want to do the lower lip gloss black but wife wants to leave it white 🤔 First 1000km of mixed driving is showing 6.4l/100km - pretty reasonable?? as plenty of urban in that.

Not a BMW but thought it'd be worthy of this thread. 992 GT3 aka my dream car just parked right outside my place haha, absolutely stunning. Also a GR Yaris in front of it

it also spent it's first 20 years and nearly 100k miles in UK, so best you get a look under it's skirts with the shrowds off, if it was from where the southern softies are, or only driven sparingly in Summer, you should be okay. Salt kills. Yes it would have had a stringent inspection in 2018 on entry, but tread carefully. Stuff that never rusts in NZ can be incredibly crusty.

    Also very rare in diesel.

I love the Z3's, currently have 3 of them. Do not own a Z3M but one is a 3.0L, so I know about having 231 HP in a Z3. They are a fun well connected to the road car. The 2.7 turn to turn ratio steering is a joy in the twisties. Torsional rigidity is low (not having a roof) and you can get a little scuttle shake if you are really pushing it hard. That is why BMW put in the lower engine X brace and why the previous owner has put in the front top X brace. So, this car is all sorted. This car does not have ASC, so a little care and respect is needed in the wet. It's very easy to get the rear to step out with all of that power under the hood. The S50 engine is a strong engine. Do you research on maintenance needs. The speedo is in Miles. Ride comfort. My E46 with standard wheels and suspension is a flying carpet compared to the Z3. The Z3 ride is not harsh, but you do feel the dumps a bit more. I put this down to the road connected go-kart feel of the car. If you are really interested in the Z3M, see if you can take it for a test drive over the Rimatuka's. You'll either love it or hate if after your 2 hour run. The biggest weakness in the Z3M is the rear sub-frame. The subframe breaks away from the boot floor and the diff hangers crack. With the miles on the car, you need to get this inspected by someone who knows what they are looking for. Root cause is too much power and a manual transmission. People just love to drop the clutch and stress the subframe welds. First thing to look at is the spot welds in the boot where the subframe attaches. See any pulled or cracked welds, then walk away. Alternatively, knock $10k off the purchase price and have a Randy Forbes kit installed and have it fixed for good. Lots of photos and information on the interweb, so do your research. The price is good. A Z3M for under $30k is a bargain.

Hi Team Long time no post, just been a bit slack with the updates but still trucking along with the projects. So bit of a big change in plans with the oil pump. When i bolted the X5 pump for a test fit the pick up was going to be way to low and clearance was going to be a massive issue. So back to plan A which is to use the n62 pump which im pretty much 80% through. Lucky for me the headers just needed one runner slightly hammered in. The sump itself had to be machined 3-4mm Bolt hole had to be slotted 5mm inwards to line up the hole. Found that 4 connecting rod bolts were fouling on the oil pump. got the angle grinder out and took off about 2mm of material. Exhaust painted Rolled the guards to fit the 18x8.5 square set hamann wheels Really can wait to get this car going. Thanks Team

There was a black e46 m3 in Wellington with one years ago. Never saw it towing though or a bike rack. Mind you. Have a two bar on the wife’s suv. The back bumper is almost the only panel that doesn’t have parking dings from other peoples inability to park. However, for the sake of a picture mums 1987 mazda 323i had a tow bar and did tow a trailer on the dump run every now and then. Also saved the back many times going off the marks on the towbar from the parking warriors.

It's always a tough decision to walk away from tyres with good life left in them, unless you have severe comfort issues with your runflats perhaps try some other things whilst you wear your existing tyres down? At least then, by the time you need new tyres, you'll have a better feel for whether you need different sizes. I'd do the camber pin mod, ideally add M3 lower control arms (TRW JTC1426/JTC1427) and then you'll need an alignment so ask for a tiny amount of front toe out. I suspect you'll notice a considerable reduction in corner entry understeer.

My M3 had a tower fitted by the original owner 😭 fortunately long gone by the time I bought it, although I had to remove all of the trailer light wiring from the boot.

It's a Z3M, a real go-kart. Be prepared for ///M maintenance costs though. agree re the e46 M3 rims - just not right for it.

I was in Wellington about 2 weeks ago, and I saw this Z3 at O'Reilly's. It looks a little ugly with the E46 M3 wheels, yes, however, when I started it...I drooled and fell in love with it! I have an itch...I want it, and will speak to my son when he gets here to Pahiatua within the next hour.

Actually got to do some work on the race car today, for the first time in ages! Have cleared a number of other jobs off the to-do list, so the race car is back to the (near) top. First jobs were to move the pile of bits off the top of it, so I could actually get to work on it, and then too vacuum all the dust and sh*t off - it’s amazing how much crap gets under the bonnet, even with it down!

To be honest I haven't really done anything with it other than code the battery. I'm pretty much a set and forget guy, and if everything is working OK I just leave it alone. But it does seem to be able to access a lot of modules and change a good range of settings. It also worked off the bat with my existing wireless dongle, so that meant less fighting with the D-Can cable I use the cable with MHD and that deters me from "fiddling" with tunes. Now that I've found settings I am happy with for my style of driving and I'll stay with them. Cheers...

Very slow progress but it’s getting cleaner - cutting out rust out of tight spots isn’t very motivating. started cleaning up interior upholstery to procrastinate doing the body work (shame modern euros don’t make headliners like they used to!)

I've had that M Roadster on my watchlist for a while now and I'm honestly surprised no one has snapped it up yet. If the car was local to me I would be down in a flash to check it out. Quite a few people just have no idea what it even is. Seems very fairly priced considering how rare the M Roadster is. The only thing off putting for me are the wheels which do not suit the car at all imo. I reckon if you got some factory Style 40 wheels and sourced a silver hard top roof you will have a very sought after little machine. Another dealer is trying to sell a silver M Roadster for $80K, while I think this is a little absurd in the current market, I can only see these shooting up in value, especially as the coupes climb in value.

Oh nice, you're going proper period correct E30 fabric. Love it!

Unfortunately mine is gone so can't measure it. 100mm is legally as low as you can go? Angles etc makes all the difference. With the E30 I cannot back in and drive out (forwards) without scraping even if I'm super careful, but I can drive in forwards and back out totally fine, even without taking much caution.

Bit of late night last night with @euroriffic. Tidied up the wiring alot, none really visable which i wanted to achieve. Will work on headers and driveshaft hoops next to then waterblast/scrub the engine bay to then install the radiator. Injector/fuel rail cover will get slightly adjusted to sit better.
