When getting any turbo kit make sure it fits RHD.

Drive a few first and check how they feel. I have added roughly 100hp to my 335i and Its quick, but HP is addictive and you may want more, but you may be happy with what you get stock.

Pulled one headlight apart and shook the old adjusters out, ordered replacements from 2 different suppliers to hopefully get some before the WOF re-check deadline, and replaced the rubber pads in both keys, a small but satisfying job done.

Hi All New to this site, just traded in the 2014 C63 for a 2015 M4.....night and day between them. Have only seen 1 other black M4 in Wellington, wonder how many others there are? I am keen on adding 12mm spacers to wheels and a lip, side skirts and diffuser at some stage. Any advice on where to get good quality non-OEM parts would be appreciated. Cheers

"$8k is as low as you'll go? Well, good for you. It won't be with my money. My offer is now $7k, it's realistic and takes into account the damage and repair work. If you come back to me tomorrow, it's $6500. Over to you."

Ran into this beaut M325i at Continental Cars BMW today - couldn't resist reversing in next to it and getting a couple of pics.

E39 out, E46 in. Transported it up from Arrowtown last week, picked it up this week. 211,000km NZ New 2 previous owners. Last owner had it for 12 years/173,000km Known faults were the remote keys don't work and it has a vacuum leak under the intake manifold as diagnosed by an indy shop in Arrowtown. A few bits of service history but nothing significant. Fresh off the trailer: After talking to experts (forum members) I've started what looks to be a bit of a maintenance mission. Started with the PCV. It was dated as 2002 so original and very brittle. The oil return line disintegrated in half as I pulled out the dipstick tube. I left the manifold on in a bid to have a driveable car to pick my daughter up from day care in and in my haste I forgot to plug in a few things. Idle was smooth but it was real jerky and had a big dip in the throttle when you initially got on the gas. Scanned it and it came up with cam position sensor fault. So out came the airbox and it turned out I had forgotten to plug in the cam position sensor, alternator and something else...whoops...anyway, seems to be running alot better now. Revs are constant and it's not throwing misfire or rich codes. Did the classic air filter, cabin filter and oil + filter too. It's pretty oily down here... Pretty dusty up here.. ewwwww New stuff I went with 5W-40 just because I had 1.5L left over from the 540 so figured I might as well use it up. New Roundel. I got a cheap one off trademe last time and it wore really fast so went all in on the dealership one this time. Changed the plates over too. DQZ346 lives on. Things to do: - coolant system overhaul - vanos valve cover gasket oil filter housing gasket - New Disa valve (rebuilt) - Tints & chrome delete around the windows - Motor mounts - Get the remote locking working - Trans oil and filter Things I would like to do: - Tyres - Suspension Eibach prokit, Bilstein B4 shocks front and Sachs m sport rears - Xenons + black corner lights - Bluetooth hands free - Bavsound upgraded speakers Feel free to add to this never ending list ?

Hey, I'm looking to find someone with an m30b34 or b35 e28 in Wellington to compare notes with. I currently own a 528i and would like to experience them side by side and see if a swap is something id want to consider in the future. I've heard the b35 has buckets of torque but the b28 revs happier which is something I actually really enjoy about it. Would love to meet up, if anyone is keen to see a very healthy b28. The don't seem to be very common. Thanks, Karun S.

Kashish this is very good advice from a guy who pushed his N55 pretty hard and broke it.

Looks like an extremely well sorted E30 - that interior ? I do feel it being a sedan and the colour may limit its value ceiling though?

Okay, see you've put a price on it now. Good luck

White LCI wagon is cool. The LCI is enough of a change it looks like a model half step. The aftermarket is so strong on e46 you can easily make this as modern, look and perform as well as cars 4x the price.

It might be worth low balling them with the car, the scrapes and dents and coolant etc etc with an offer of like 7k (which is about more inline with what its actually worth) If they dont take it, walk away, if they do it'd be a decent car (with the knowledge that the waterpump will likely be due soon) By the way, Id concerned with a workshop that says they will do a rocker cover gasket, leaking washer tank etc for $800. Parts are relatively cheap (probably $500-600ish), but its a few hours work (and all DIYable if you can swing a spanner and read a manual). Somewhere they are cutting corners...

Some of those colours, early 70's (guessing here) look contemporary today, another is that crayon, just a dullish grey. Porcshe colour. Some shades of green and blue are coming back too, moreso in the non metallic's.

Managed to run a 14.48 on Friday. Not as fast as I was hoping for but still the fastest so far. As the night went on and the air got colder I started facing grip issues, which was surprising since I upgraded to better tyres for this round. Got another drag day next month so will see if I can push for 14.3. Also here's a video of the previous round where on my first run a Dodge Demon lost it, crossed my lane and narrowly missed me. The whole time I didn't realise they were being paid to build it for advertising a game. All makes sense now. Was a low effort speedy build for an advertiser.

Whipped the exhaust off over the weekend to repair a crack and cut the cats out for a more exciting exhaust note. Also changed the spark plugs, LCAB, gearbox mounts (rubbish for a street car, taking them back out) and gave the car a wash. Slowly getting there.

as was mentioned 500hp is an arbitrary number, what you are better looking at is what mods do you need to support a nice power increase while not shortening the life of your engine. MHD would be mu choice and if you went IC, Cat-less DP, Charge pipe, airbox/filter and an MHD stage 2+ tune you will get to around 420hp. If you want 500 then its a new turbo and exhaust and perhaps a modded inlet system. That said the N55 is not as strong internally as the N54 so you may be approaching the limits of reliable HP. You will also need an LSD as even with stock HP grip is an issues and with a tune and bolt on's the massive increase in torque makes getting two tires hooking up difficult. Where the n55 seems to work best is with mild to medium increases in power.

Trackday ? I'll share GoPro footage when I've had time to edit it. Might be some more good pics of it if you follow Christchurch trackdays on Facebook, they had some photographers about... One of the spectators snapped this with his phone and sent it to me, pretty good pic!

I have lived in a city so badly polluted they go to TWO carless days when polution levels pass the threshold. At this level everyone's personal health and safety is far more important than the individual liberty to drive one's car - whether it's meeting emissions regulations or not. I can take the bus. It's not a big deal. I will allow your right to *breathe*, to trump my desire to drive my 30 year old 4 cyl factory non-cat e30, or my 16 year old emissions-compliant V8. I hope you'd afford me the same courtesy. If there was good reason for it - eg our current pollution levels were measured daily and data published, I would get by. I think you've made too great a leap - from a vehicle that fails emissions to a fancy new one. Is there no middle ground? Perhaps a car someone can afford, a few years newer - or even older - that meets emissions levels? What would I say from my middle-class palace? I'd say "you do what you have to do". When I was a nipper, my dad commute about 80 mins (bus/train/bus) to his job. Coming home he'd do the reverse, only adding a couple of extra bus rides and more time travelling on night-school nights - studying to get ahead. A wife and four children, one income, rent, no money for the luxury of a car, just putting food on the table and saving a dollar here and a dollar there for a house deposit. In those years I think if he heard your argument through a time warp, he'd have a quiet laugh - "having to have a car?".

All of what you just listed is more f**king nanny state bullshit. Sounds like you'd be quite happy for the Govt to tell you you can't drive your 545i or E30 on certain days restricting your freedom? Id be interested to what you would say to lower socio-economic families that can't afford fancy new cars with modern emission systems, should they get fined for just trying to get to work that could be months of wages? How do they get to work on car less days? Making life easier for everyone should be the goal, not going backwards with regulation.

Hi Kashish Nice looking the F06 chassis, bit too big for my liking though. I'm not super fimilar with the n55 engine however do know quite a bit about the n54 engine which is similar but do have a few differences. Personally I would use MHD just because of how easy it is to use! I have it with my 335i and its been great. They both give options for custom tunnning which is what you want if going for 500hp. 500hp for the n55 engine is nothing uncommon, just need to have the right supporting mods. There are lots of options for the N55 engine. I don''t think you will get to 500hp on pump gas and stock turbo but you should get close with custom tunning and full bolt on mods Full bolt on mods include large front mount intercooler Alloy Charge pipe Catless downpipe Also i'd recomend High flow air filter 1 step cooler spark plugs It also depends how big your budget is as you can get a larger turbo and get to 500hp with ease. (might need a larger fuel pump with a bigger turbo) Certification is needed when you use any ECU tuning or piggyback regardless! Which I think a lot of people don't realise. So MHD or JB4 will require certification. (I don't think many people acutally do it though)

If its got green coolant in it, it hasnt been serviced properly, *walk away*. Someone who owned in past has been trying to save a buck. The waterpump motor is wet, the rotor is lubricated by the coolant. The block is a mishmash of magnesium and aluminium with a bunch of interface materials between them, coolant flows through both. Magnesium corrodes like a mudda, and using the wrong coolant turns the engine into a battery. Using the wrong coolant kills water pumps, and results in corrosion of expensive engine bits. The first things to look at with N52 BMWs - Is the coolant the right stuff (has it been serviced properly) Does it have decent quality tyres on it (is the owner a tight ass and saving a buck) How many oil leaks does it have (aka how many have been fixed) From those three things, you can tell a lot about the car There are way nicer examples out there, id be looking at 330s personally.. use the same amount of gas and go faster.

Ah the purity hunters. 1 guy says they ruined it = THE INTERNET IS AWASH WITH PURISTS HATING ON THE SWAP!!!. People swapping engines love to attract hate. Even when it isn't there most of the time... Actually from reading their comments section many are just disappointed that it is another LS swap. Not that it is a swap.

Welcome! Why 500hp? Is it for the bragging rights, or are you addressing a usability issue? You're currently rocking what, 315hp, and a nicely-balanced turbo six in a very elegant chassis? You may need some bigger brakes and brake cooling, possibly suspension mods to help keep it in a straight line when you acheive an additional 185hp. Have you considered an M5 or M6 instead? Even starting with a 650i Gran Coupe you're starting at 442hp, much closer to your goal of 500hp, and probably spend less than the engineering to increase your 640i's output by ~66%. You'll probably need certing for the 640i as well. Hope that helps
