  1. Yeah saw that today and just happen to require some. Picking up a 20L box of oil & ATF tomorrow with the ignition discount.
  2. K's don't mean much at this point in time as does regularly serviced (in NZ it usually boils down to oil changes done now and again). Most of these cars have tired suspension, old plastics and rubber etc regardless of mileage. IMO the example that has the tidy condition paint\panel, good interior and drives ok is the one that worth spending a couple of grand to sort mechanically. The only ones that are actually close to needing none or very little work are the ones owned true enthusiasts who are happy to invest lots of time and money (opposite of most car owners)

Sold a set a few years back for $800 but they needed painting. Average condition sets used to be around $1000 with good condition sets going for 1500-2000. Haven't seen any for sale in awhile though. Personally id keep you current setup as 17's are better in everyday on a 535i (aesthetics aside)
  4. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/535i/listing/2770105343?bof=md3IKGMM This guy has been trying to sell his 535i "sport" for awhile too. Delusional on the price and well as his definition of good condition.
  5. Good example but you'd have to really want that spec to drive it back to Auckland etc.

Rather to sell you parts than diagnose the problems sums up most dealership experiences ive heard about.
  7. Ive always just listed all i can about the car im selling and most calls i usually get are viewing related. Maybe some sellers don't mind taking calls and answering questions due to their lack of detail, but its not something i'd ever consider doing.
  8. Hard to tell if that steering wheel is well worn, it looks to be but it maybe the light on it making it so.
  9. Personally i think it at least partly due to E39's being so common and cheap on today market.
  10. You haven't specified whether it was pressure tested? If you have the engine tray on you probably ain't going see nothing dripping. Lots of coolant hoses hoses which can leak like ones under the manifold

Thought you would have that manual box in it by now.

Iirc the transmissions in these aren't that strong either.
  13. Aftermarket has plenty of good options. Avin unit is probably what I'd go for. Problem is with monitor optioned cars will you have to buy and run the extended wiring loom to the radio module in boot.
  14. So much E39 msport availability these days. No better luxury sport sedan on the planet for the price, nothing comes even close.
  15. The magical oil that go at least twice the distance and time but only when BMW is paying for it.
  16. To be fair anyone with a clue would of told you that
  17. The monitor option radio module appears to be the same but without the tape\cd interface but i can't confirm. Good chance you can use a tape deck\Business CD module\amp as long as it matches the pin layout ie round vs straight Obviously you'd have to cut it down or mount it differently if it worked. Ive got one but its got earlier round pin connectors, maybe you can find a later NZ new tape unit one etc and try it. BM53\54 units are quite expensive last time i looked.

PM'd Swear all the good stuff is in Wellington atm
  19. No that's vin numbers that were recently decoded. You can pay decode the vin i believe for a couple of $ based some what someone said on this forum.
  20. You'd need to try with a proper options decoder site like mdecoder.com (still works sometimes once a day) If its a genuine msport it will have the cosmetic msport options eg shadowline trim, bumpers, interior //M sill trims, sport seats etc. Ive never seen a car optioned that has all the cosmetic options but no msport suspension, so if it has all that its probably genuine.
  21. The photos could of come from the 90's too haha
  22. Probably on a couple that appear to be worth the asking price though.
  23. Yeah sorry got mixed up. Personally i don't see that much more added value in a short period even though you've done good work on it. Id have see multiple good examples ones actually sell for 30k+ to acknowledge that is where the current market has priced them.
  24. If you can sell it for 38k then congrats. Robs old one is listed 25k. 4 door but seems realistically priced.
