Remote locking fixed. I followed this thread https://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/threads/2003-e46-320d-se-tourer-remote-key-problem-fzv.73922/ and sure enough no 12V feed. Followed the cable, bit of tugging and found it was loose. Had to dissect the loom cover to access it as it had obviously broken right in the middle of it. Soldered and heat shrinked. Now 12V at the module, still no remote locking. Resynced the key and voila! Happy days.

Plenty of stuff listed here gets slagged. Depends on who lists it and how tight with the 'community' they are... Edit: I personally like the threads where it gets slagged until the seller pops up as a member, then the opinion changes 😆

Exactly. Trademe is a buy/sell website for buying and selling. If you aren't doing those things then there's no need to comment on the listing. But that's what a forum is for, discussion! Trademe is not a forum.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. It's like Tom Waits' measure of a Gentleman. "A Gentleman knows how to play the piano accordion. But doesn't."

Yes, you are right, I am selling on behalf, the owner is flat out running his business, I also sold it to him, I know the car very well If I didnt have an immaculate E28 M535i in my stable, I would own this car!!, Its that good!!

Car is back from the panel beaters after a minor mishap with a parking kerb -last month - decided to take advantage of my low excess to get it perfect - new OEM bumper colour matched and new undertray 👌🏽 Pretty much everything in this photo except the windscreen has now been repainted / replaced for anal cosmetic reasons 🤣

Looks awesome, so shiny !! I'm also kinda curious about the anal cosmetics but I think I'm going to leave that one 🤣

Very nice, certainly has potential with some extra time spend on little things, engine cover paint for instance. That steering wheel seems weirdly thick though? Also because I've been staring at leather seats all week, those are way too shinny, definitely need a good clean and condition

This is right. There's a whole thread with like 7 pages dedicated to overpriced e30s...

Comments questions increase page hits which increase ad revenue for trade me. It's all about the $$

I went for a drive with Elsa, she did everything she said she would do so I’ve no complaints 🤷

Ahhh.... yusss. I was referring to TradeMe listings, not to forum posts. Forum posts are an open invitation to trolls. On forums the only available remedy is for an admin to step in when things get out of hand. Trolls obtain their gratification by sparking an angry reaction to their baiting. The best thing to do is ignore them (which may enrage the troll and make him/her appear even more stupid) or thank them for their opinion, and thereby deprive them of gaining satisfaction for their efforts. Parliament is Troll Central but they seldom come to blows, as when trolling becomes a way of life it loses its effect. I'm going to miss Winston Cheers...

I removed all these parts and cleaned with an easy going hand soap, tooth brush / soft nail brush and water with white rags, getting rid of soap is key and then some vinyl / plastic spray to rejuvenate the surface and wipe it all dry. Results depend how much effort you put in. Lucky you have black seat side trims, mine are white but turned yellow so I had to repaint them!

100% want to sit on those seats 🤣

They'd make a great lounge if you converted them :p

That looks like a brand new car. Great work

Thanks, this was abit of a mystery after buying multiple modules and it still not working. My friend Andy did a good write up on that conversion here if you haven’t found it already. A big box tick of this car was the 2 remote keys plus the valet and wallet keys even though I knew the remote keys weren’t working on purchase. What I didn’t realise was that there is only the barrel lock on the drivers side. So for getting kids in and out and then having to walk around to the drivers side to physical lock it was abit dangerous…not to mention wanting to put the supermarket shopping in the back in the pouring rain and same deal, no lock barrel on the boot!

Nice work! At least you will have the RF unit - I've got the crappy IR / line of sight / pathetic range one. I'm going to retrofit the IR system in the next month or so.

The seller has the option of NOT answering questions so that the question does not appear on the listing. Thus if the Q&A becomes a mess it is really because the seller does not simply ignore irrelevant questions or comments. I think it was Confucius who said... "Don't feed the Trolls.". Or better yet, from Mark Twain... "Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.". Cheers...

But I could say the same of posts on here too. I know I've made some comments that didn't go down well like I had planned 😅

Trademe is a forum of sorts - comments / opinions appear to be freely permitted (but can be removed on request). I don't think you can honestly dictate people where to share their opinion and where not to - if the media allows it. This forum at times is not immune from being a cesspit either. I can link some threads here waaay worse than anything ever seen on trademe.

That looks amazing and well done on your perseverance, mint!

It's a while away. But early next year I will keep eyes open for another one.

I would love it. Having a mint example to go alongside my other 535is would be great. I can't exactly drive the other one around on the street. And the 525td is not really comparable other than being an E34. I have seen it up close a few times down here. Very nice car.

man this thing is beautiful. big six with a 5 speed manual box, cant really complain!

For a serious buyer, just one drive of this car, and your doubts will vanish while your wallet opens. It’s a beaut. I followed it across the tops on the Gentle Annie a couple of years back, it’s composed, handles excellently, and the glorious noise from what is a docile car in town, is honey to any car lover.

A very cool car. My dad had a 535i back in the late 90s, it was good times. I'd be tempted if I could sell my Maserati, but I suspect people with car money have already spent it post COVID so it may be a buyers market. I also suspect that 535i is wanting more than I am willing to pay for it. I'd have to buy the B5 RS4 which is only a little more money and a lot more fasts. Edit: I f**king hate how people think trademe is a forum now. The internet is such a cesspit.

I just about bought this car in 2002 when it was being sold by an owner in Forest Hill, North Sore, Auckland. It was mint back then - about 120,000 kms. The owner wanted $17,500 - which I thought was too high at the time. Despite that, it was a mint car. Boris Radich who was a Bimmersporter here bought it off the subsequent owner, 4-5 years later. Boris is a E34 enthusiast - and he went bonkers 'bringing back' an already mint example. One of the freaky cars that has had so much love bestowed upon it from previous custodians that it's appearance and condition belies it's relatively hefty mileage.

I did it to mine the other month. Got a limcet box with CarPlay and works a treat. I paid around $650 for the box here in Auckland. I know you can order them cheaper online/overseas but figured I'd get it here from a shop so i've got the warranty etc. You can still access the CCC without any issues too which is great! Check out "Auto Retrofit NZ"
