5 pointsCertainly not this one - this ad has been discussed before I think. The blurb is very very dodgy to the point of fraudulent, talking about an opinion on a typical face lift msport model which is certainly not what is for sale here. And it even suggests the "near beer" (which I assume is a 540 msport) e39 is "better" than a M5 which is just pure laughable BS. The price is about triple+ what someone might start sniffing at for a pre-face lift non sport model, despite the low km, which doesn't necessarily mean it won't be without your typical e39 age related treasures... Having had my cynical rant on that dubious Ad, I do think the e39 540 msport is a fine car in its own right and good ones, one day, may have their day... (well that's my investment strategy anyway 😁)

4 pointsQuick Monday afternoon mod: Swapped out my stiff, notchy, ghetto ‘short shifter’ that came with the car. Put in a new BMW Z3 1.9 lever with a new shifter cup, fresh redline MTL and a clutch stop. Huge difference for the small amount of time and money invested. Shifts are now short, firm and precise but with far less notchiness and it is much easier to get into reverse / 2nd gear downshifts etc. Will get the shifter bushings done sometime later in the year - likely an outsourced job though. Images of the old ghetto shifter with bolt on extension to shorten throw.

2 pointsI think I’m going to get a couple air tags for my cars since they are fairly inexpensive. Look like they work decently well and it would be nice to have the system integrate seamlessly with my phone and computer. However, have heard they can notify unfamiliar Apple devices that they are being tracked. My mate left his airtag he has with his keys in a mate’s car and his mate got a notification saying a foreign airtag unfamiliar to his phone could be tracking him. Could be problematic if the thieves have an Apple product (which lets be honest is quite likely seeing how popular iPhones are) as after a while they will know they are being tracked.

2 pointsReinforcing Apple's proprietary technology is never the wise long term choice, the privacy sacrifice is immeasurable.

2 pointsAwaiting howls of outrage from this abuse of artistic licence: 😁 " the secret BMW didn't want you to know is that when it came to the E39 5-series, the near-beer model was a step above its M counterpart in nearly every conceivable way."

2 pointsReplaced the control and tension arms in the 535i yesterday to get a new WOF. The old ones look and feel fine :/. I suspect if I had a different inspector on a different day I would have had a WOF no problem. Not a terribly hard job but probably took about 4-5 hours of actual work and $700 worth of parts. In better news, the insurance company said I have a $260 refund from the insurance I was paying on my M5 from 2 years ago. Win!
-
2 pointsEngine rebuild in 2019 though. But yeah, kind of caps the ceiling a little for folks who want a garage ornament. Disclaimer - I am biased as I have a daily driven M325i pushing 400,000km 🤣

1 pointHi there This is my e30 project bought as a rolling shell in 2020 Fitted Nissan engine, EFR turbo, forged fj20made engine loom, link ecu, made exhaust manifold, engine mounts, sump, fitted big fuel pump put brake booster assembly in the cabin, driveshaft hoops , 3 inch exhaust ,mishimoto radiator and inter cooler, lsd with e36 rear hat, widened steelies, panel and paint, and finally ready for the dyno and hunting for interior parts to finish off. Most of the e30s I’ve ever worked on have been race cars so we would bin the interiors so it’s ironic that is now the stuff I need to find Hope to post car on the Dyno if all goes ok. Cheers Mike Getting close……

1 point@Kees yeah, they added that I think after people used them to stalk women. If it gave you 24 hours of tracking first could be worthwhile for $50. Cheap GPS trackers are available from about $200 but they need a sim and to be hard wired to car and are much more bulky.
-
1 pointYes planning on replacing the front springs only at this stage. I haven't had a close look but pretty sure the rears are fine. It seems like many E36 coupe factory springs make the front have a larger wheel gap. Thanks for the reply
-
1 pointDoesn't look as if there is much wrong with your LPFP. The fluctuations are probably due to the pump control trying to keep up with corrections on a rapidly changing demand. Here is one of my N54 logs for comparison... If you can visualize a RMS smoothing of the output it would be staying pretty close to the target pressure. Cheers...
-
1 pointYeah worth a go maybe - I know there were some recent(?) changes with them to stop stalkers / thieves to use the for tracking people unknowingly but could be hidden easily and battery lasts a year or so?
-
1 pointPictures can go missing here without notice and for reasons beyond your control, do not depend upon Bimmersport for anything important. This applies to thread content other than pictures as well. Consider yourself warned.
-
1 pointEverything is cool, not missing any images ... was just wondering if the images were going to tick over some milestone age and start to be pruned / deleted, hence making the content somewhat less valuable for errrr the next poor soul who may wish to attempt my swap

1 pointThe "opinion write up" made me want to punch a hole through the screen. Love the post-truth, alternative fact world we find ourselves living in. f**king hell.

1 pointYou're familiar with stud pattern and want to fit 4x114.3 wheels on a 4x100 hub? How's that going to work? Besides that the centre bore is way too far off to make compatible, if you wanted to use adaptors (still not sure that gap is possible) then you'll also need a cert. I'd look for some other wheels you like, you can use a site like https://www.willtheyfit.com/ to plug in your stock wheel dimensions and the offset etc of wheels you like to see if they'll fit or poke too much. Whether they'll hit the brakes will require you to either take some measurements and do some calculations yourself, or use a combo tried and tested by somebody else.

1 pointI usually have a laugh whenever going through palmy It looked trashed about 6 years ago
-
1 pointI seems to recall a local member went and checked it out a couple of years ago and it was farked. I dont goto palmy often, but will pop in next time im that way.
-
1 pointYes, the fuel pressure is too low. Confirmed by the: Fuel Pressure low sensor Both Short Term fuel trims.
-
1 pointAnyone want to come view the car 🤣 I feel like we need a Bimmersport in-person investigation...

1 pointYou are possibly right, there aren't many NZ new original equipped 6sp manual 540is in NZ, probably less common than the M5. Saying that I wouldn't sell my 540is for what he's asking
-
1 pointThe guy seems to have a fair collection of cars in various states of disrepair (#goals), he’s also selling an old Merc, newish Merc and a Porsche 928. Couple have asked about the shark nose but he’s keeping that one.

1 pointI took the M325i out in that rain storm, not a good idea in hindsight as some unavoidable standing water got the distributor cap a little moist but its all fine now - was already on the 'replace list' with plug wires. While I definitely wouldn't do it again - or leave the house - had no idea how bad it actually was out there. I do love having a usable modern classic - if I had the luxury of a genuine sunny day car I would be looking at something like an Alfa GTV or Lotus Elan.
-
1 pointAbsolutely stunning Polaris 1990 M325i just went up on FB if anyone is looking. $59k but looks worth it TBH - immaculate with plenty of money spent in the right areas. No sunroof.
-
1 pointSome nice parts, but I’d have to say that’s rooted. Cars really don’t like being parked on grass, I think it’s the dew or moisture that makes them rot out. Shame to see a fellow vert like that, but could be more difficult to restore with the convertible only parts that might be required - sills, guards, etc.
-
1 pointI should quit spending to get mine running and just buy a trailer so i can tow it to some meets before i can cash out my kiwi saver and get it completed

1 pointsaw your car at the meet today, looked great! lots of cool cars out, I was one of the 135is, was going great until bank 1 decided to misfire
-
1 pointGreat, good sized BMW meet at Smales farm today, great cross section of cars from E34 wagons, V8 E36, M4 CS, a gang of tuff 135i's and a couple of E30's. New wheels and tyres will be going on Thursday, so one last photo with the Basketweaves on a perfect Sunday afternoon.
-
1 pointThank you! They certainly seem well finished - a little heavier (1kg) than genuine lightweight Alpina's but not complete boat anchors and TUV certified for peace of mind. The centre cap does not have a lock, rather a rubber gasket and push-in clip fit, plus an allen screw hidden under the little cover to have them completely secured.
-
1 pointThose are such good reps (heaps better than mine) right size at 16” and the little key lock on the centre are great. Will look so good on your car.
-
1 pointExciting day today, would have been much more exciting if my tyres were not 3 weeks away though!

1 pointWas good to meet you @Sammo looking forward to the development of your beautiful coupe And great to see so many other variations of e30's out there

1 pointHad a great little E30 meet in Drury yesterday - some wicked cars on display, especially the V8 Beast @WYZEUP Watching Magnus Walker rip on his vintage Porsches on Youtube motivated me to take her out for a spanking this morning and test out the new shocks and springs. Great fun blasting around the rural roads around Coatsville / Waimauku and Helensville - this old M20 just keeps pulling hard to the redline and loves it - has really been singing since @BMTHUG adjusted the valve clearances. New suspension is good too - firm enough for fun but not too crashy - its never going to ride as well as my E46, but no issues at all. Couldn't resist a little photo shoot of course.

0 pointsHi everyone, I'm writing this topic with sadness and anger at the same time. Just shocked but hoping that putting this out here would be more eyes and ears in seeing my car. Car was parked at Wilson Carpark in Parnell under the cctv camera. Hopefully the police can get the cctv footage and these pricks are found. I didn't know these cars could be stolen without the key, especially that it's an SMG as well. I'm hoping if anyone sees it can let me know. Photos attached. Rang the police and apparently whoever has stolen it has already put in the paperwork to change ownership (i didn't know this was possible). Tried to call NZTA but they are not online till Monday, neither is my insurance company.... wow! Anyway if anyone sees it - likely with different plates now, but it's got black mags and tints. Has a brand new rear bumper and slight dent to rear spoiler and front bumper has curbing damage to both front splitter areas. You help would be appreciated.

0 pointsIf they are browsing the retirement village forums they have probably found much more than my hints.
-
0 pointsThey don't expire but you can't depend on Bimmersport to preserve them, if they're important then make sure you have copies elsewhere. I learnt this lesson the hard way.
-
0 pointsNZ was never a lovely safe haven. Ive got dozens of friends and family that have had multiple cars stolen. Some even at knife point. Just do your best to protect your vehicle. Never park in a Wilson's. Have a way to track it. Hope you get it back. Sadly my Wife can't park her 200sx anywhere without attracting the wrong people. So we rarely take it anywhere where it would be parked out of sight.
