Hi guys, I was googling online for parts for my car and landed in here, only to discover (thanks browser cookies) that I'm already a member from 6 years ago. So I guess "Hi" again..... New cars though now since I joined back in 2015 but still Beemas prevail! The E39 M5 is my baby and an F15 X5 is my daily driver. Absolutely love both of them! anyway, Hi again and hope to see a bunch of posts I can benefit from!? Cheers

This will be my daily and it needs a bit of work body wise. But it’s a straight six NA BMW and that’s all that matters. It’s Monaco blue with grey leather. German made and was once used as a display car by BMW in Germany (apparently).

Good to see that one of the industry bodies has taken a broader look at the whole emissions issue, and not just focussed on the EV solution like the government has: MTA SUGGESTS EMISSIONS TESTING, SCRAPPAGE SCHEME, HOLISTIC VIEW Whilst the incentives for EVs are a positive move, there are other areas that could give significant improvements. The emissions testing would be a great step forwards, especially as the age of the vehicle fleet in NZ is old by comparision to most developed countries, and many people like to modify their vehicles. There is little or no positive result to be had spending tax payer money getting a relatively small number of new vehicles into NZ as electric models if there are millions of older vehicles that are pumping out massive amounts of Co2, NOx, smoke, etc...

I think the only logical thing to do is take mine down a quarter mile and see if they are all shagged at this age or if that one is particularly sad!!

G'dday, new member here who's taken the E60 M5 plunge just recently. The car is a 2008 BMW M5 and my focus will be bringing the car back to a factory look removing all of the BLACKKK stuff the previous owner/s have done.

Welcome to the Rod Bearer Anonymous group If it's Eisenmann Sport (not Race) I might be interested on it, especially if you can easily put back your originals (I want a revert back again). Sometimes I find the E60 to be too quiet, but other times I like it quiet. Maybe those flip switch exhaust cutout will be more suited for me. I do like those Eisenmann tips shape, we have a factory fitted Eisenmann on our Cayenne... would be cool to have octo Eisenmann exhaust tips on the driveway

Probably an absolute weapon if it's still got the 2.8, would need a tall diff to use the dogleg 245 though, I remember a friends Hartge 2.6 with the dogleg and a 3.73 diff was practically undriveable until 3rd. Wonder if the $7K price increase reflects $7K worth of rust remediation? Methinks not.

the whole thing is stupid from top to toe. under the emmissions trading scheme, New Zealands emissions are capped already, and you already pay your contirubution toward that at the pump. Switching to EVs has the wider effect of freeing up emissions for other industries. there will be no overall decrease in emmissions. The subsidy is supposed to lower emmissions. true for cars, but not overall.

there are buildings full of experts in their fields... policymakers, analysts, advisors, all doing the right thing. Their current masters are ignoring them. Evidenced by the lack of policy underpinning the majority of announcements made by this gubbermint. There's an important distinction between the Civil Service and the Politicians.

The free VIN decoder(s) seem to be bringing all cars (I've looked at) up as LHD. Good score...

One of the most rewarding days of my life. Final fix & tidy before cert inspection tomorrow. So rewarding. The wash yesterday, remembering the first wash.of the car 3 years ago, and now she sits all this work done to her(around 600-700hrs). Around 4 hrs of repair today, with the final wipe down being the highlight. WoW!! Straight up!!!

Thanks mate. I really didn’t want one in silver. The Monaco blue was just stunning to look at. I paid just over $8k for it.

Survived the south coast storm last night. Parked the E46 on higher ground as iv spent double what it’s insured for so with a clear driveway I took the E30 out for an errand run today. Shot this on some old glass mounted via multiple adapters to a new mirrorless body. The mirrorless body has focus peaking making the old manual focus lenses more accurate and actually usable. This is the 80mm in the photo but the photo was taken with a 150mm F4 Hasselblad C series lens. With the 35mm crop factor it turns a 150 into an 85mm. Is it better than the 85mm Nikon lens….probably not, but it has a nice softness to it which I think resonates with the romance of E30’s.

I came to the BMW brand BECAUSE of the e82 135i, looked hard at that and got seduced by an e46. But I still have an unexplicable yearning for the e82, and every time I see a 1M I almost explode. Other people just don't get it, but it's personal and frankly unexplainable. As with most purchases for us 'car guys'.

Yes mate. Canterbury Car Club run Autocross and Motorkhana events year round. We have about 2-3 half day Autocrosses at the track (Ruapuna) with a sealed motorkhana in the morning. Last weekend we had our full day Autocross. There are also grass Autocrosses during the summer with similar mix. Other clubs such as Autosport and RATEC also run a couple per year on grass. Canterbury Car Club next half day Autocross is on 31st July with a sealed Motorkhana in morning. PM me if you want more details or head to their website
