3 pointsHi, I'm Adrian. I've been looking to buy an E30 for the last 2 years. I finally pulled the trigger when this NZ new 1990 325i SE came up for grabs. Plans are to convert to manual. Change rims Drop it an inch. Here's some pics:

3 pointsGot a few parts today. Picked up a pfl m20b25 engine which is complete, also got a m52b28 crank and some fl m20b25 pistons. Last week the boys at Hell Bm sorted me a m20b25 block to ready my 2.8 stroker build. Next on the list is pick up my m20b20 130mm rods and sort a new camshaft then its all on. 2.8 litre life Also bought this touring last week that needs quite a bit of tlc

2 pointsThanks. Got the spoiler on. Also got my LSD. Engine is coming out next weekend so should have some updates that actually relate to the swap then.

2 pointsIt's very sweet in absolute terms. It's incredibly damn sweet for the price he paid. Quite amazing actually. Well done mate!

2 pointsThanks for the help guys, lastnight I told the seller that I would buy it if he could definitively confirm that it is a Competition Package. He sent back an email saying: "the Interlagos Blue is exclusive to the competition pack so looks legit with the other obvious comp pack like the EDC, carbon, steering wheel 'forged alloys' etc" Either this guy is clutching at straws or he just doesn't know what he's talking about. After some more research, Interlagos Blue was available exclusively to the E46 ZCP, however, any E92 could be ordered in the colour, also EDC was just an option which could be put on any E92 M3. The carbon, steering wheel and forged alloys are all obviously aftermarket. Also, interestingly, he has changed his Trade Me listing since I asked him to confirm. It now has no mention of Comp Pack any where except for the title. Long story short, I'm going to book it in at Jerry Clayton BMW for a PPI this week which should confirm either way. I'll let you know the verdict!

2 pointsThe great crap you can rent in the US. Family trip down to Virginia for Nascar tomorrow. Thought we would try fit in. Buick Roadmaster. You're not a driver. You're a Captain.
-
2 pointsDamn... that's not much money! I was hoping our might be worth a little more than that It's not motorsport (though it has the suspension) but it manual... Maybe I'll keep it longer... until it dies...

1 pointYou can't modify the sedan seats to fold forward (or rather it's possible but nowhere near practical). Any aftermarket seat can be fitted with the correct brackets but that will get pricey. I've just got some Recaro SR3's that fold forward to adapt but it's not a straight swap - and you should get a cert if you change the seat brackets. I recently picked up a half leather rear coupe seat on TM (from a member here actually) for $12.50 so they do come up. And as for the fronts, have you checked HellBM (Ray) or BM World (Brent)? Both are sponsors here and I'd be quite surprised if between them they didn't have coupe seats for sale. Did you post a WTB thread?

1 pointThink I saw you roll past me on Neilon St, Onehunga yesterday in the e30. Looked good.

1 pointHi there BMW fans I'm a new forum member from Timaru. Have two Z3's, both are 2000, 1 is 3.0L auto and the other is 2.0L manual. Purchased the Siena red 3.0L Z3 about 18 months ago, this was my first ever BMW. Just love the top down cruising. It low km's and does not need anything done to it, a bit boring in that regard. Purchased the Mora red 2.0L Z3 in January, its a high km's car and was in need of lots of TLC. Been having a blast working on it and sorting out all the odds and ends. Have set up INPA on the workshop computer to help with the diagnostics. Every thing works now and no error codes. Currently finding parts for the suspension and steering refresh. This car is my daily drive. Cheers Muzz

1 pointNow begins the amazing journey of learning how to E65... which sucks because I still haven't found a flat with decent workshop space, It's going to suck paying to do all the silly works I normally do myself. At least the car itself wasn't a cost (I speak too soon - it's probably going to be a complete PITA)

1 pointHat off to you Sir on this one you have stuck with it through all it could throw at you. Hence don't mean to be a joy germ did you bother to have a look inside that vacuum pump they are well known for filling with oil then sending it through out the whole vacuum net work big mess.

1 pointReally happy to see the 530i went to a bimmer sport member. I was trying to sell my wife's car in time to buy that one and noticed it had been removed from Trademe, figured it was gone. Look forward to seeing it soon. I have a 03 530i in silver. Picked it up at 70km and not done 135km. It's tidy but an import which has always bothered me. You should come through for the monthly coffee meet in Penrose. It's actually on tomorrow (11am ish)

1 pointFinally get E30 on the road and go to my goto WoF guy, didn't realise i have aftermarket concentric(?) bushes up front, he won't pass them. It needs certing anyway for adjustable shocks, motor swap, manual conversion etc... but I'm getting over the endless list of sh*t this car needs... Thinking about throwing the towel in and either getting a better quality of E30 that's already had the work i want finished or just a 335 wagon... or brents E34 544iT... or i just don't know, i want all the cars.

1 pointThanks for the photos, interesting to see as i dont think ive ever actually seen under the valve covers of a valvetronic engine. Could you see anywhere on the old headgasket where it might have been leaking?

1 pointThanks on the heads up with the keys, never thought about that. Yeah dereg, was just reading through the paperwork on getting it re registered. How can you prove that you're the person entitled to register the vehicle if you haven't bought it off someone? I guess they must have a form for that. Provide a bunch of ID, fill it out and good to go? If I do end up with it it's going to be interesting to see how much of a write off it is, the fact someone abandoned a 7 series with a two near bald tyres leads me to suspect it wasn't a loved vehicle. Here's to hoping it is in good nick but for whatever reason it was easier to leave it behind than sell it! EDIT - Further good news, a search with the securities register revealed no finance owing. I'll go into the local BMW dealer on my day off tomorrow and see what they can do regarding a key as well as checking with the AA about what's needed to register it.

1 pointI remember peanut butter sandwich lunches and 60km commuting two up a 250cc motorcycle to save money.4 years. Not owning a TV for 5 years, no going out unless birthday or similar. Wife did degree over 10 years in evenings and weekends. I did whatever overtime I could and pushed myself at work.I Had the same e30 for 15 years /330,000kms. First house paid off in late 30s. Apart from the Auckland market I tend to smile at people b$tching and moaning about getting into the housing market yet will have $1k cellphones , $40-60k tied up in a cars and spend a few hundred on a Friday entertaining themselves. It's a matter of choices and some hard work.

1 pointExactly. So pick a job you can do in the rest of the country. I mean this for young people who are in the position where a career change won't be too detrimental. Yeah Auckland salaries are good, but that doesn't mean disposable income is. If people aren't willing to make choices in order to be able to better afford housing, then they aren't really in a position to complain.

1 pointOn Saturday I washed and dried mine, blacked the tyres, and made an image or two of it wearing its new boots. On sunday I drove it to upper hutt and back. and I liked it! #8 )
