3 pointsHow do the manuals win in rush hour traffic? ? I agree with the majority, the zf8 is a great combo paired with the low end torque of the diesel. I've got a G20 320d and absolutely love it

2 pointshttps://bimmersport.co.nz now works, I will be tinkering for the next bit to try disable non SSL (currently breaks logging in if I disable it).

2 pointsIf it were a sports car, or a performance car, then yes a Manual could well be considered. If it's a daily commuter 320d then there are a big number of benefits to the auto over the manual, let alone the higher level of spec in the Edition 30 over the manual one. Chief amongst these would be the re-sale value as the market for a 320d manual with poverty spec would be very, very small. Unless you really have a need to feel like a race car driver and want to make brrm, brrm noises on your way to work the auto is much more convenient. You can't eat your breakfast and drink your coffee during your crawl to work like everyone else if you have to keep using your hand to change gears.

2 pointsHave said this since 2003 when the frontal impact laws and liability laws changed for damaged vehicles. All that happens is the vehicle is marked as damaged upon import. Whilst you need an engineers report to re-vin the car. You don't have to give that to anyone afterwards. And anyone with it can not hand it to anyone else without permission. Fun times. It's a game of how well you can hide the repair. M cars are a hard one. They could have been written off because they couldn't find an bonnet and bumper. But also and prob more likely is that they are a sports car and were crashed being driven hard.
-
2 pointsIts a real shame there is no public database of written off vehicles. Be great to search the vin and have a description and photos.

1 pointRecently picked up a 2007 130i, first BMW I've had! Turns out it's from a member here (Chester), but I didn't know at the time - wish I took advantage of the bimmersport discount he offered! It seems well looked after, but has a few little blemishes here and there, but for the price I couldn't turn it down. I've got a few plans for it. Changed out the battery last week when it gave out on me and threw every fault code it could - scary experience! New bumper, mags, aero spoiler etc etc, normal stuff. Firstly though I'll get a transmissions service. Photo's to come!

1 pointG'day, I am looking for a rear bumper for an E28 M535i (mtech kit). Preferably in Diamond Schwarz if I win lotto. Regards.

1 pointoil filter and oil I have already, air filters can just grab them locally cheap enough.
-
1 pointThe money is in the labour. Try Jon at Auto 38 otherwise just get a video of it and show mechanics that seem credible and see if they will do it.
-
1 pointUpper Hutt. Ran coned filters but the sold them as I could not see any benefit and neither did the Dragy.

1 pointTo shed some light on this topic, the owner is a panel beater and carried out the repair himself 12 years ago. He had to replace the left chassis rail.
-
1 pointWell, just dropped the car off to P&S for new DMF and clutch kit to be fitted. They seemed to think doing the rear crank seal was easy enough while they're in there, so doing that too. Fingers crossed for a smooth drive home this evening!! ?

1 pointI love mine with an auto. For my life it’s not a sports car so I don’t feel I need or want a manual. Mine I believe has the B47 engine and the EGR was replaced as part of a recall when it was in the a service a week or so ago, read into that what you will...
-
1 pointif you're doing engine mounts I suggest trans mounts as well. I did both on mine; transformative. It's not a cheap chassis for parts cost in maintenance, though it is so very rewarding. I wonder is the Touring 50/50 weight distribution as well?
-
1 pointAbsolutely. If i was in any other car i would have a sore back for sure. It was indeed magical. And this car needs engine mounts and probably a suspension refresh to bring it up to scratch but it was still very comfortable. Its really an amazing platform and the price just makes it even more attractive now that they have pretty much bottomed out in value.
-
1 pointthis is the e60/e61 magic. You can drive WLG-AKL non-stop and arrive feeling relaxed. Brilliant cars, love mine to bits.
-
1 pointBe differcult to value this vechicle without having a good- good look, who did repair, certfied? Subframe/ tracking issues?? If it was written off, it would be a decent whack! Or parts required to repair, not availale on request??

1 pointHad to do this quite often when I was driving the 1km to the train station last year. Tap Tap = Lifter Tick Tick = Injector Knock Knock = Who's there? Mr Big End Bearing.
-
1 pointMine hasn't ticked for months since I started using it daily. It's still a tapety sounding engine in general though, if you know what I mean.

1 point@TermiPeteNZ Yes that's them. Just realised it was 16 years ago. They did a great job on my E38 after it was damaged coming over from the UK. @Olaf I'll give Andrew a call and see if he can take a look and let me know what he can do.

1 point3.0 CS on East Coast Road Silverdale today. Just the thing to tow the trailer!
-
1 pointI have posted on multiple BMW specific Facebook groups and recieved lots of likes from people who don't know me.

1 pointAll good, I reset the CB on the FRM. You get a few goes at it. Doing waterpump and thermostat at same time as engine mounts is good plan, dropping the subframe makes access to waterpump easier anyway. Engine mounts are a bit fiddly to do up, but not the worst job in the world, double check the sump gaskets not seeping at the same time as you'll kick yourself if dont do it while the subframes dropped.
-
1 pointSorted out the rear fog lights error. the car was missing the bulbs completely so bought 2 ($18 each......) and had to reset it multiple times to clear the code. (thanks @Jacko) No more error messages on start up - big success! lets see how long that lasts. Think we have come to the conclusion that the vibration at idle is due to bad engine mounts so they will be getting ordered soon. One major(?) error code to investigate is this: 2E85: BSD, message; electric coolant pump: Missing I can see that the connectors to the waterpump has a lot of old oil covering it so will need to try get in there to clean it out and see. The waterpump itself seems to be working fine as car is not overheating but will most likely add this and a thermostat to the list for peace of mind. I am worried that the wiring harness for this is the culprit for the error code though. Most other error codes havent come back after clearing it so lets see. There is definitely something funky going on with the battery/FRM or else.. seems to be the typical E6x problems.

0 pointsAnd to think I sold it for $10k with the S50B30 in it! Biggest regret of my vehicle ownership history.
