5 pointsDay three saw us head to Ashburton for coffee, and a street display, Timaru for lunch, Oamaru and then Dunedin. In Oamaru we had the chance to visit the Riverstone Castle (true!) check out the old limestone buildings, the Steampunk displays and motor museum. Then on to Dunedin, with dinner that evening at the restaurant within the historic railway station. Day four and we continued south to Invercargill via the Catlins. Stops along the way at the seaside settlement of Kaka Point, the Purakanui Falls, the Petrified Forest (only 170 million years old) and on round the south coast. This was probably our coldest day, with some rain, but still the most amazing scenery and really nice driving roads. IMG_0406.MOV IMG_0445.MOV

3 pointsHi there, I recently had the chance to join a group of MG enthusiasts on a South Island road trip. There was a late withdrawal so this was my opportunity to join. And, BMW owned MG Rover for. a.while in the 1990’s so kinda fits, right? Day one was to meet up at ferry terminal, cross the strait and first night in Blenheim. Here we struck our first mechanical issue ~ one of the MGF managed to snap a gear change cable as they drove onto the motel car park! Day two saw us head south via the Kaikoura cost to Christchurch for the night.. this drive is simply one of the best in the world. Along the Kaikoura coast the road clings to the side of steep cliffs with. the Pacific Ocean on the other side. Weather was ideal for top down motoring and the scenery just superb. The coast line has changed dramatically since the 2016 earthquake with the land uplifted by over 4 metres in some places, raising the seabed and exposing more of the shoreline.

3 pointsMotor swap time. Probably looking like the n46 going to need valve guides and maybe new cats from blocked oil, and to be honest my hatred for n46 gives me too much bias. Something popped up from a donor car, so here we go. N52b25 lucky to get the entire setup, driveshaft, cas dme box diff etc While it's out going to do some seals. But motor this looks like I may have got lucky. It was a runner before removal but someone must have done head gasket and rocker cover because alot of stuff looks new

1 pointLooking on trademe prices are all over the place. I have bought a new car for my wife and after running 3 cars for a while im tired of dealing with my narrow driveway issues so time to sell her old one. Not sure the good treatment it has had over the last 4 or 5 years counts for much though. 2006 bmw x3 2.5i msport in white. ~150,000km very good interior apart from drivers bolster and very good paint condition, no bumps or scrapes. bad bits - indicator stalk stuck on and after I freed it, it no longer clicks off after straightening the wheel. I.e you have to click it off - small valve cover leak - drivers wing mirror folding motor stopped working The below probably doesnt affect the value but incase anyone here is interested... Has had oil changed every 7-10,000km, and done almost all hot long distance kms. I bet the engine hours is less than most 100,000km cars. Has had transfer case services x 2 since ive owned it and has had transfer-case actuator motor replaced. Newish name brand tires ($1000) and new front lower control arms both this year. Paint is all original, no repaints and I have owned since 40,000km. Waxed 4x a year, clayed annually and mostly stored under cover. will get photos up tomorrow.

1 pointHah! I can easily get 290km out of a tank and its only $160 to fill!! But 10k for maintenance is not going to go far......

1 pointIf you take that tail pipe off, the rear should rise up 100mm to level it out too🤣

1 pointHi all New to the forum, I’m based in Christchurch and have a kiwi new 2001 330ci Motorsport rag top that I pull out on a nice day. Have a desire to buy an M3 to park alongside it but will post that in the right spot!

1 pointWhy are you considering an e60 (SMG) but not an e90 (DCT)? E46 m3 obviously (not really any smaller than e90) https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/mercedes-benz/listing/3074000407?bof=seIt4NTA https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/lexus/listing/3043434794?bof=9P2DovYb

1 pointLol, ok, I found a Rolls Royce spare parts dealer, which of course has BMW parts and ordered a hodge podge of new parts. I also ordered a used Clutch pedal and spring on eBay UK.. and signed up for a YouShop account to get a UK address. Lets hope this works out.. EDIT: Lol, of course, email from the seller, they cannot get part 35211152013 any more.. which is the stupidly specific RHD + Manual e28 brake pedal.

1 pointI'll risk being banned here If I was spending the money l would buy an E55, and save 25k for tyres. Family skids in comfort. And keep my current MX5, because 1st gen MX5 is best car ever.
-
1 pointWe had one, was rattly as hell, had 100k on it. Went ok, not a powerhouse. Fuel economy was ok. Ours was 4wd also

1 pointA few years ago I looked at all the then available water/meth kits, and ended up installing an AQUAMIST HSF-3 setup on my 1600cc Corolla. Probably a bit of an overkill but I was running a twinscrew S/C without an intercooler, so needed something that would track injector duty cycle. As it happens Aquamist have the best hardware and arguably the best controller for W/M injection. Their components are a work of art... all manufactured in house and not bulk purchased from the local hardware or irrigation shop. I ran two nozzles, one just after the S/C and one just before the intake manifold. Took a while to learn how to get it working properly and the only real problem I had was getting the flow rate down low enough for such a small engine. The HSF-4 kit is said to be the one to use on direct injection engines, and you can read a bit about it in the link to Aquamist Direct. The diagram shows the major system components. Depending on how serious you want to be, you can just run a single nozzle (maybe two if you have an aftermarket charge pipe with two bungs) and take your chances with equal distribution to the cylinders. Or you can go all out with port injection if you are pushing the limits. Aquamist have a decent forum and having a browse there will be educational. A BM is obviously on a different scale to a Corolla but the principles are essentially the same. For charge cooling I used 50/50 water/meth by volume, which gives 44% meth by weight and makes measuring easy. Or you can mix 440ml of water plus 560ml meth for 50% meth w/w. That's probably enough to get you started Cheers... http://www.aquamist-direct.com/806-400-direct-port-bundle-options-2-4-weeks/

1 pointGod they are painful to read. Sometimes I click the 'reply' button, then it prompts me to register and I think, it's probably better if I don't... I'd probably get banned in no time for insulting the fools on there.

1 pointYep a DC2 Type R is the one that I have a massive emotional attachment with. Have had 5 of them and I just know now that when I'm in a position to get another one I'd happily pay ridiculous money for it.
-
1 pointThe blacked out sills kinda make the car look unbalanced and the front spoiler like a big snow plow. Its about the only thing wrong with how the car currently looks.

1 pointRear head rests were an option. Code 498. The rear stop light is an interesting issue - the E30 parcel tray with integrated stoplight was introduced for the 1990 model year, but cars registered in New Zealand after Jan 1990 had to have them, so you've got the '89 build date cars without the parcel tray light, like the Alpina M325i on trademe, which was an 04/89 build, but wasn't registered in NZ until 01/90, so required the dealer fit high stop light. Recent mt2 cars up for sale - CLZ241 - parcel tray light / no dealer light LIV3 - no parcel tray light / no dealer light PR6499 - parcel tray light / dealer light RM5295 - no parcel tray light / no dealer light PY7742 - no parcel tray light / dealer light PA3330 - parcel tray light / no dealer light
-
1 pointBlack headliner is all you need to see - everything else M325i specific could be optioned or dealer retrofitted.

1 pointKia Stinger. There ya go, I said it 😎. Something M-ish, M5 - E34, E39 or E60 would be my suggestion... ohhh how about a M6 Gran Coupe?
-
1 pointWell I'm pretty much happy with that. Glad I did the LHS C PILLAR it would have definitely bugged me with the ripple in it. Painted the diffuser black, that white was bland as hell. Before After

1 pointBack on topic Here is a guy who is a bit of a rarity on youtube... he actually knows what he is talking about !!! Here he is comparing the S58 in his new G80 M3 Competition to the N54 in his old e90 335i. One of the more interesting facts he talks about is that the new engine has dropped the compression ratio to allow the engine to run higher boost... as much as 25psi. Trade off is a bit less down low for a bit more up top. Recommended watching for the engine nerds Cheers...
