Third time lucky.... After adventures with my E81( 2 door) 130i and my parts car E87 130i, I've now bought a Manual E87 M-Sport 130i! So far I've given it a thorough clean and a good drive around the Wellington hills, very happy with my purchase. Both photos from the sale listing. Its a Jap import that's been in the country since 2015, and I've got a folder full of extensive service history since then including major bits replaced like DISA valves, valvetronic, and waterpump. Car has been converted to NZ Navigation and is a high spec example from factory with black leather seats/silver trim/Idrive/Heated seats etc. Exterior is in exceptional condition bumper aside, interior is also quite nice. It has several mods: Ohlins Adjustable Suspension Works Emotion D9R 18" wheels BMW Performance rear spoiler Tints all round BMW roof racks Rear Wiper Delete Exhaust flap removed "eyebrows" As part of the purchase it had the PCV and relevant pipes replaced and MAF sensor changed after being picked up as a fault in a pre-purchase check. Outstanding issues with it include headliner sagging in the rear and front bumper damage from being backed into near the license plate. Will be fixing headlining shortly. I have had a go at cleaning paint marks off the front bumper somewhat successfully and the actual damage isn't obvious or structural. Will likely get it fixed but not a rush job. Otherwise car is in fantastic nick and drives beautifully. I'm planning to remove the eyebrows and BMW Roof racks asap, will need to find some roof rack covers for the roof. I also have a SuperSprint exhaust backbox to fit on. Think I'll replace the kidneys if/when I get the front bumper fixed as they're painted black. Big decision for me will be about the wheels, didn't originally like them but they're growing on me. They're quite special being 5x120 and relatively rare. I do like the 18" M-sport factory wheels which I have on my 4 door. Have been really enjoying the drive compared to my suspension modded E81, and stock E87 130i. Both which will be for sale now or shortly. Manual makes a big difference in the drive and feels like a bit more power is available. Adjustable suspension is a tremendous ride. So a very happy camper who finally got his manual 130i

Here's my 535IS, had this for almost two months now. Probably the nicest car I've owned so far and am very happy with it! It's got 340 000 km on the clock but it seems to be very well maintained, so far I've only had to fix a couple of small things. It feels very tight (as tight as a 31 year old heavy sedan can be anyway), it seems like a lot of the suspension has been recently replaced. Someone once loved this car very much and I am hoping to continue that love. Currently I am very happy with realOEM and the countless genuine parts websites online that are almost better priced than used parts anyway. I have already bought a new sunroof mechanism cover panel and a new bit of bumper trim that was missing for some really good prices. Right now I am still working on: Trying to figure out what is causing the slight miss at low rpm and under load The headlight washer system (no clue what is holding this back) Any help or tips would be appreciated. Also any tips on fuel economy or is it just always bad?

15XXXX km, Orient Blue (LOVE the colour), Msport, ZF manual converted with 3.38 diff, Full M3 interior (with inflating side bolsters), drilled rotors , front and rear strut braces and M3 mirrors. I researched getting an E46 for months as I wanted something with an older school feel but still modern enough and reasonably reliable that I could keep for a while. The 330ci seemed perfect, as I've always loved the timeless look and the M54B30 has a great reputation and enough power for our twisty roads. Manual, RWD, NA straight six, great steering and 50/50 weight distribution - can't complain! My goal is to go for an OEM+ build and hopefully end up with one of the nicest Non Ms around. I've spent a lot of time and money getting it to a high standard with OE / OEM parts: Maintenance / Performance Oil and filter / Plugs / Diff and Tranny fluid New intake boots, DISA O ring and MAF clean New waterpump / thermostat / radiator hoses / expansion tank / belts and pulleys Short ram air intake, fully heat shielded and ducted from kidney grilles Valve cover gasket & oil filter housing gasket Vanos seals & Oil line Fuel filter All new tensioners and pulleys Poly steering coupler Supersprint axle back and secondary cat delete CABs / new shock and strut mounts with front reinforcement plates Front and rear tower braces (ARC) E46 M3 front 26mm sway bar / E46 Msport Vert 20mm rear bar, new bushings and adjustable end links (upgrade from 23mm/18mm bars) ST XA Coilovers (Same spec as KW V2) - height and damping adjustable New Lemforder Tierods and boots Remap - throttle response / power (probably not) / subtle burble Fully certed for manual swap, coilovers and all mods (inc driveshaft hoops) Exterior Paintless dent removal Bonnet, side skirts and door respray Stage 2 paint correction and regular waxing M3 mirrors Euro personalised plates - 'NZ E46' ESR SR01 18x8.5 ET30 and Hankook Ventus V12 235/40/18 New headlight lenses / New clear corners / rear LCI boot lights / Dual slat front grille Boot and mirrors resprayed for cosmetic reasons New OEM front bumper colour matched Interior Fully refurbed and re-coloured M3 Nappa leather to BMW Caramel Piano black trims Armrest delete and refinished interior plastics Re-wrapped steering wheel and refinished trim - highly recommended! Billetworkz shift knob (450grams!) and clutch stop, matching handbrake handle Alcantara custom stitch shift and handbrake boots Factory style touchscreen with wireless Apple Carplay - looks OEM but with 2021 functionality Front JBL components, Pioneer amplifier and 12" sub Both front Airbag recalls done To do list $$$ IR to RF key conversion Engine mounts? Diff bushings?

No Volkswagens have ever really caught my eye except for a select few such as the W8 Passat. While its not a BMW I thought this deserved a special mention due to its rarity and cool factor in the non-BMW section of Bimmersport. Anyway, I came across this MANUAL W8 Passat on Facebook MarketPlace. I've kept an eye on W8 Passats for sale for a number of years and I have never seen a manual one come to market in New Zealand. To make this one even more special, its NZ NEW! Whoever ordered it from new must have been quite the baller by going against the grain and ticking the box for a manual. Honestly it would not surprise me if there are less than 5 manual ones in the country. The W8 engine is certainly a special one with an extremely unique sound thanks to two VR4 engines mounted at an angle of 74 degrees from each other on a common crankshaft. (shoutout to Wikipedia for the info) The W8 Passat is also the only production car to date to have a W8 engine, although other production cars with the W configuration include the Veyron and Chiron with their 8.0 Quad Turbo W16 and a variant of the Continental GT with its 6.0 Bi-Turbo W12. Not sure how fun it would be to drive considering its probably quite a heavy engine and it doesn't make much power even though its 4.0L in displacement (only 274hp). Also has 4 motion which would further limit fun. But as a technical marvel, its certainly very interesting. Not sure it's worth 15K considering you can get an auto one for like 5K, plus the wheels are absolutely hideous, but I guess seeing as a Veyron is probably $1.5 million, half a Veyron engine and minus a few turbos with a manual gearbox, doesn't sound too bad... 😂 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/190639909850553 (Photos taken from the marketplace ad)

Yup - overseas diplomat, not NZ Govt fleet. So half right. Overseas spec, just goes to show how much extra kit is added to the “NZ New” spec versus most other countries.

Here you go @leichtbau... https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/335d/listing/3281156985?bof=Ioua1f5s (OK it's not an Edition model but otherwise looks pretty well specced, chrome line window trim is 'interesting' though and it needs the raised roof rails replaced with the flush mount ones) wbaux72000a494144-bimmer.work.pdf

Went in to Bellars to replace CV boots & Tie rods & thought I’d get a service done at the same time. They did a wheel alignment too along with standard oil & filter, air filter etc. They took it out for a test drive to see if they could notice the hanger bearing playing up but apparently nothing was wrong with it & no distinctive noises either. Their words were “maybe you’ve just been listening a little too closely” 😂 Atleast that saved me a few extra $$. Always a pleasure visiting Bellars, extremely honest & genuinely good people with proper industry knowledge. Current to do list: Fix steering wheel tilt function (which I understand is connected to the memory seat module) Some panel beating required to fix some dents & scrapes Fix this bloody bootlid mechanism once & for all, if it still doesn’t work will try & source a secondhand one somewhere somehow. Replace bulbs in the instrument cluster (pixels are dim) Paint correction & coating Remove old tints Wheel refurb & new tyres E39 M5 / E46 M3 steering wheel Rubber Mats Aluminium foot plates (car was originally optioned with them) Repair some scuffs on the seats (potentially new bolsters?) Upgrade infotainment unit I know most of the things are cosmetic so will just slowly chip away at them when extra cash is lying around 😅

In general I'm a dissenter when it comes to public opinion on fluids so many will disagree with me but here you go... Coolant: any G28 coolant is fine, that's all the BMW stuff is, don't pay a premium. Oil: w30 is fine, w40 if you drive it hard occasionally. Objectively, in an Auckland climate where it never drops below freezing you want the smallest gap between the two viscosity numbers so 10w40 is better than 5w40 (for example). Always fully Synthetic and a reputable brand (Penrite is reputable). Brake fluid: I've only ever used Castrol Dot 4 and it's never failed me, even at track days although I hear from others that their SRF formula is very good. No idea on gearbox or trans. Good luck!

Penrite Superdot4 for street usage. Available in 4L if required. HPR in 20L box on special at Repco etc. Think i paid ~170 odd a year or so back. Penrite Green as it's cheap and easily available, but any HOAT type that meets BMW specs is fine. Needing to use BMW stuff is nonsense with the options around out now days. I've always used Redline oils in BMW manual transmissions as its always given me good results in regards to shift quality. Plenty of other decent full synthetic options though. Penrite Progear 75W-90, but It's a open diff im guessing so what ever you feel like putting in\spending.

Cant have been a car for anyone important, maybe just MPs/opposition or something. its got one of the shortest options lists I think i have ever seen on a 7 series. A poverty pack 7 series...

People who drop construction debris etc on the roads. Felt the car pull to the left, pulled over about 800m later where able to. 25mm long, 15mm wide piece of metal through the middle of the tread. Inner sidewalls completely destroyed, new 325/30/21 Michelin Pilot SS x 2 for even tread wear. Lucky I had two in the shed.

5w30 long life fully synthetic. If your car has done over 200k kms you could consider 5w40. I use castrol edge, but alot of people really rave about the penrite. Hengst oil filter from fcp euro. Tests have shown this is the best oil filter for our engines, although the mann filter is also very good. If you add a few to your next fcp order they work out at only around $5 each, which is waaaay cheaper than the shitty repco or supercheap ones. For coolant ONLY use bmw blue from the dealer. Mixed 50/50 with distilled water.

A long long time ago I rebuilt a 69 Camaro SS with a "mildly modified" 454. Thought that we had clutch slip at 100mph. Then we saw two trails of smoke out the back....

This looks like an awesome option. I'm going to message them and see if they have any without the stripe. Thanks!

I ended up just gluing the badge on. It was certainly a bit thicker than stock but wasn't too dramatic and I actually preferred the feel of it with the wrap. Got it off aliexpress, and was quite impressed with the quality of it. When I ordered there was an option not to have the red marker so went with that and gray stitching to match the m performance handbrake boot. https://m.aliexpress.com/item/4000353458798.html?spm=a2g0n.orderlist-amp.item.4000353458798&aff_trace_key=a5984e33e7c74834b3e1f9b9d2cd9279-1633048375630-03435-UneMJZVf&aff_platform=msite&m_page_id=469amp-IjdStVzOGrc4vGFT-866qw1633048414021&browser_id=8b1b3873a0904a4aa6bf8d9ca9c4d1af&is_c=N

My house is next to entrance to a walkway, Level 4 results in a literal traffic jam of cars trying to find a park to go for a walk with 300 other people... its insane. Its like watching ants following each other. Lets hope vaccination rates improve, otherwise our hospitals are going to explode.

Im in Manurewa and in lockdown 1 I could go for a 10 minute walk near the botanic gardens without seeing a single car on the road and at night it was dead quiet. In the last days of this level 4 i would see over 150 cars driving past on this same walk and there is some pretty clear parties and gatherings. Im not at all surprised to see the continued spread in south auckland with my anecdotal experience.

As a result of lock-down I finally found the time to do a decent detail and polish on my E34 540iA. I then applied three layers of wax to make the car nice and glossy. Thought this would be a good opportunity to make a post in the showroom to show it off! Car has done over 371,000km so was quite impressed with how nice the paint still looked. Need to get my replacement sunroof painted though.

It's been sometime since I've had a BMW, the last time was when I sold my E36 coupe with its 1UZ-FE V8 conversion, seven years ago in 2014. The desire for an old project BMW has remained, the only model that tickled my fancy were E34s so meant slim pickings. A particularly nice 540i came up this month so I had to drop everything and make a move on it. It's exactly what I was after, wasn't going to bother with any old thing. This one is exceptionally straight and has only had 2 owners since NZ new, I'm now the third. It's just about to tick over 86,000km I've placed a huge order of service items so that will allow me to get the car back up to scratch, I'm probably going over and beyond but I tend to be like that if I deem the car as being worth it. This one is no exception. Eventually I'll sort some nicer wheels and fit an Eisenmann rear muffler, but those additions can wait.

Bit of an update, bought a bunch of detailing supplies after Xmas to give the car a good going over and clean. I've wanted to give the car a good detail since buying it but fixing up the mechanical side was the first priority. Now that has all been done, or I have the parts in the garage, it was time to work on getting it shiny. I've kept it relatively clean since buying but really wanted to clay bar and cut/polish to sort out the multitude of fine scratches and get the headlamps clear. I had previously attacked the headlamps with a turtlewax headlight kit, to remove glue from the previous owners "eyebrow" install. This somewhat helped but they definitely could be better. Last week I started with mag monster on the wheels and then G3 detailers cleaning spray, rinsed off and then washed the car again. Once it was really clean I started with the claying and did most of the car before leaving it for the next day. I came back to it and found I'd managed to scratch up a few areas worse than before 😥 but mostly it felt much smoother and used a tar and bug remover to get everything else off the car. I pulled out the polish to attack the scratched up sections but hand polish wasn't enough to remove the new scratches nor some older scratches. It did take out a lot of fine scratches but not the finish I was optimistically hoping for. I'd also exposed a fair few stone chips and at this point decided to seek professional help 🤣 Booked it in with Final Touch to get a two stage machine polish, headlight polished and their stone chip paint touch up. Went in today and it came out brilliant, exactly what I was after. Car looks absolutely phenomenal even though it was very clean already before going there lol. The dent on the back corner is still there! If anyone knows a dent guy let me know. The front end is a massive improvement with the headlights being crystal clear, de-aging the car. No stone chips on the bonnet looks much better too! It had been bugging me that the car didn't look as well cared for as it was, but now it really reflects how much work/parts have been put into it over the last year. Super happy with how it all turned out, it was what I was initially after(taking it to a detailer) before deciding to have a go myself. With this I did a lot of the groundwork and was able to get the stone chips taken care of too. So a better finish than just getting a standard detail. At least I have all the gear to keep it nice and shiny now Engine mounts and sump gasket hopefully going in within the next month, dependent on time and space on the lift. Will be 100% mechanically buttoned up then 🤪

The obvious? It isn't so obvious. He is telling you to research it because they cost the govt far less than you think, and they will recoup a lot of their costs with the sale. The deal the govt made makes a Corolla look like a more expensive option. Therefore your comment was pretty stupid, because it was indeed a very wise spending of our tax money (no sarcasm!).

Hey mate. I went to look at this one. Almost bought it. But when I was test driving it with my partner the old guy starting talking about the woman selling its husband that passed away, the owner of the car. Said he was a convicted pedophile who had just recently died in Sydney after spending a bunch of time in jail, did they tell you that too? The mrs wasn’t having it, said she didn’t want to be in that car because off bad juju Car seemed pretty good apart from needing a paint job and the steering issue how much did you pay for it in the end?
