3 pointsPossibly the most OCD triggering thing ever… WHY IS THE BADGE NOT IN THE MIDDLE GRRRRRR
-
2 pointsI like the choice of silver wings for the plates on your car. looks super clean to me
-
2 pointsI followed one of these the other day and it had water in the tail lights sloshing back and forth......

2 pointsFirst update after a week or so of ownership and a few 100kms... First few goodies arrived - A Condor 'Shorty' Shift knob and my new Euro Plates - went with silver 'wings' and really happy with the look at the front, although against the black rear plate frame the lack of contrast on certain angles just looks a bit white - we will see - looks better IRL than in the pictures - its just a lighter silver than I had hoped. Took her out this morning for a proper country drive out Helensville / Makarau way - it was drizzling and the suspension is tired and tires old so I didn't go nuts but had loads of fun. Observations: LOVE this exhaust / engine note - Loud raspy wail above 4K / great undulating burble at idle, blipping downshifts sounds fantastic and pops on upshifts and deceleration if you provoke it - so good. Unknown short shifter is nice, got a new shifter cup on way but no need to fiddle here Love the feedback through the wheel and happy with the slower rack (for now at least?) coming from a purple tag E46 100% need to do a suspension refresh - ride is quite hard and bouncy - happy with how flat it is through bends however, so will keep the sways and just change the bushes, maybe add a strut brace given the age More civilised than I expected on the motorway, aside from aforementioned bouncy ride - presumably due to dampers being past it Fixed a bad rattle in drivers door (was worn door hinge pads - a bit of electrical tape and it feels like a bank vault now) - flappy glove box is only other rattle of note now - not bad for such high kms Will also get drivers seat re-foamed when I get it the interior reupholstered and change the seat shocks - too much movement. Stupid easy to get the rear to step out on greasy roads - need a driver upgrade now - almost made a fool of myself in an intersection giving a touch of throttle mid corner - need to learn how an LSD feels? Will leave the old Potenza's on through summer and take it easy in wet - they don't seem bad otherwise, but will leave them for now as need to decide if I'm going to go to 16" or not after I do the suspension. Stoked with my decision even though the car needs plenty of improvement - feels somewhere between an NA MX5 and the E46 which is exactly what I had hoped.

1 pointRegrettably up for sale is my e28 535i. After lusting after one of these for years I finally bought one 2 years ago and I have enjoyed it thoroughly ever since. Alas, with a divorce looming over my head and lawyer's fees to pay, I have, with a heavy heart, decided to list her up for sale. In my ownership I have replaced the factory suspension with Spax Springs and Bilstein shocks in the rear ( I also have a pair of b8 Bilsteins for the front that have been rebuilt but not fitted). I have serviced the transmission less than 1000kms ago. I have also in my possession a complete e28 Motorsport Kit that I intend to offer to the winning bidder with the sale of the vehicle. It is unpainted and on another vehicle but will be pulled out before the auction ends. *Freshly serviced *Transmission Serviced *Speedo cluster replaced with lower mileage one as old one wasn't working (Was showing 327ks) *LSD Diff *Bilstein Shocks *Spax Springs *Genuine 2 Piece BBS Style 19 wheels with 225/45/17 inch tyres all round * Stock Springs available *E28 Motorsport Kit included in sale price (unpainted, shown on donor car, will need chrome bumpers back as part of sale) *3.5 Litre m30b35 engine *Automatic Transmission with switchable manual mode *Tilt/slide sunroof *All electrics work *No Rust that I know of *Thermostat and Waterpump Replaced *Mtech 1 steering wheel and Mtech flares Has the odd dent and scratch and clear coat is peeling in places, the bootlid definitely could do with a respray as it seems as it has been badly resprayed before my ownership and cracked. All electrics work except the aerial. The Boot springs don't hold the bootlid up This is all I can think of at present. I will only be running a week long auction as I intend to sell before Christmas. Thank You for looking. Test drives Welcome, Will be sold with new WOF and 6 Months rego (Rego on hold currently) Contact me on the number listed below PLEASE NOTE : PERSONALIZED PLATE IS NOT FOR SALE WITH VEHICLE UNLESS NEGOTIATED SEPARATELY After 18k ono. Advertised on Trademe but have the right to remove the auction Not sure why my previous post was deleted Contact me on 02102916373 https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/3383319384?bof=4tP8dwtu trademe link for those who want to go the bidding route

1 pointCleaning out the shed, I'm unlikely to own another E30 and I've recently sold my 135i so all of these parts have to go. Listing here before I have to deal with Facebook morons. All parts are brand new. Offset strut mounts for E30 $300 Turner motorsport Fixed camber plates. $150 E30 Gearbox linkage parts $80 Facelift M20 water pump, no picture $50 135i E82 intercooler, I think they fit a 335i too. Slight damage as pictured $250 N54 Charge pipe $60 N54 Catless downpipes $250

1 pointThey are hilarious in the wet eh. Basically just sideways everywhere, in slow motion. Every round-a-bout, every intersection.

1 pointDepends a lot on where abouts on the windscreen the damage is located. I'd suggest you get Novus to look at it and get their advice and a price to do the repair before going at it yourself. They have a pretty good guarantee for their repairs and if they do it you are not likely to get knocked back at WOF time. Cheers...
-
1 pointI think they want you to show them your crack

1 pointI like them. If you ever went for clear or smoked indicators it would look slick too

1 pointNot sure what they charge up wellington way but Novus charge about $80 here to do a chip repair.
-
1 pointModel designation changed when the new engine series was introduced, to reflect the higher power and torque of the new engines over the old. This was prior to the LCI, so there are a few pre-LCI 340i around, but not many.
-
1 pointWish I had the spare cash, It would make for a good drive back from Wgtn after Xmas. GLWS.

1 pointFinal bump/call... someone is getting a bargain - auction closes around 8pm this evening 👍
-
1 pointI’m really curious if people that are into 318is would buy a replica at this price? @Olaf I know that you’re trying to make a 318is replica, what do you reckon?

1 pointI particularly like how they didnt disclose the repaint or replacement engine/trans until someone asked. At that money im sure you'd want matching numbers?
-
1 pointAwkward.... 🤣 I didnt even notice it wasnt wearing them in the original photos, i thought the car came with them. Good to know though, silver is no bueno.
-
1 pointEnjoy, they can be a real mission in the wet, I’ve slid around at 15km/h. An older BMW mechanic told me once that they used to get regularly damaged on mechanics test drives in the rain, so only the foreman was allowed to take them out.

1 pointhttps://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/porsche/911/listing/3375836402?bof=CgQlSkt4 There's an almost identical one for sale for $238K, also in Guards Red... but with a few less rust holes.
-
1 pointYou'll need the little arm that that connects to the headlight leveling sensor too - M3 unit (couple of bucks)
-
1 pointYeah the extra camber moves the top of the wheel inwards (as well as making the front end way more pointy). My ACS's (ET43 19x8.5) used to rub over bumps on the front gaurds with 235s, 225s didnt rub. LCAs solved it and can run 235 all around. Im on ET38 18x8.5 235/35 (so 1mm difference to Qube) and no rub with M3 LCAs (and mines a few mm lower)

1 pointI feel like it had already been re-painted too (the original listing I mean) - good on him if he can get it sold, but a beautiful, original red 318is sold for half this, maybe a year ago or less? Had sport seats as well which I would hope to see on a replica.
-
1 pointSeats look the same but with leather covers or re-skinned? Door cards/Headliner dyed? It's a very pretty car and he's done an engine swap but that is quite a price hike...
-
1 pointHe is advertising it as a 318is. That’s false advertising. No different to someone putting M3 badges on their car and advertising it as one. edit: got changed after I asked the question.
-
1 pointPerhaps if you bought a vacuum cleaner on pick up, then vacuumed underneath it, it would be considered complete.
-
1 pointThis is the Cirrus one I was chatting about earlier - beautiful car, low Kms NZ new factory manual. Looks really good, PFL 2 doors have a nice delicate / pretty look. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-3381926409.htm

1 pointIf you get the parts but the install is not your thing, then give me a call. I have installed several cruise controls stalks in Z3's (E36/7) and a Z4 (E85) stalk into a E46. Being Timaru based, I not too far away from Dunedin.
-
1 pointBMW won't retrofit it for you, in fact they're likely to simply give you a blank look if you ask. I retrofitted cruise on my E87 and it's not too difficult (same procedure as Z4/E89), what part are you looking to outsource? Do you already have the replacement stalks? If not, that's your first task and it needs to match exactly your existing stalks but add the cruise stalk, any variance (at all) will cause you headaches. Apparently any E8x, E9x, E89 setup will work, as long as it's exactly the same as your existing one (plus the additional cruise stalk obviously), the slip rings in the hub of the stalk assembly vary widely and are not cross-compatible.

1 pointWell the next issue popped up, alternator packed a sad on a weekend drive few weeks back. Luckily only close to our off-ramp and I could get it home and then down to our mechanic. New alternator, being water cooled PITA so left it up to the mechanic for this one also. Under $2k all up, pretty happy and we got a good deal on a genuine pump for $1200 in that. Well that’s all the big ticket items now, hopefully ……… At least it’s back and running sweet now
-
1 pointSo after being away for a transmission rebuild and to address the driveline shudder at the same time, today she is back ! It’s been forever for various reasons but now she’s back. Albeit my wallet is significantly lighter. Fantastic difference having the trans and drive line back up to spec, that’s mounts, driveline, trans and all suspension and bushings replaced now. Finally next job is paint tidy up. Headliner and rear shelf, I have a few parts to get in on the next free weekend as well. Probably need wheels refurbished as well …..
