4 pointsdont forget somethings get blown out of proportion on the internet. The V8 rattly chain guides i have seen enough of that i know its a fact, but other things you really need to question. every engine (and car for that matter) ever built by any manufactuter is a piece of crap if you read enough.

3 points13 minutes from standing up in the plane to sitting down in a taxi including clearing customs, immigration & waiting for bag. Surely some kind of record?
-
3 pointsThey don't work. Put your left hand on the ABS unit.... stick your right hand index finger up your arse and recheck. If that doesn't work first time put your right hand index finger down your throat.

2 pointsNot quite tradeMe but maybe something that Brent would build. I'd be keen to have one in the garage http://enthusiastauto.com/qsearch/?id=4844&form_display=51#.VUnqJJWJjIU

2 pointsI did think my experiences were better to what they were here in the Hawkes Bay, perhaps its a more, Dealers are bored because of so much less foot traffic thing in regional compared to big city, maybe its also the price bracket your looking in, and whether they look at you as a tyre kicker, although with finance deals they probably find easy meat I would have to say real Estate agents are so much worse its just beyond compare, dirty two faced lying lazy and arrogant forked tongue f*5kers

2 pointsPicked it up today. It's definitely seen better days but I'll do my best to bring it back. Had a couple of nice surprises for me. Number 1 being that I didn't hate the blue upholstery. The pics washed it out a bit and it's a lot darker than I thought. The ski bag and first aid kit looked like they've never been touched and the tool kit was complete. First time I've seen a complete tool kit in a E38..lol Its also has a cool wood inlay option in the interior that you don't see too often. The one bummer was the dent in the rear door that appeared after they sent me pics prior to purchase. It is a bit rough around the edges but a bit of love I'll bring her back to her former glory.. The poor 740i was nearly bottomed out on the way back but I nursed her home.

2 pointsThat pic isn't an E39 though, right? Or is this for the E60 sport mode mod???? First pic looks like E39. If you're fitting them elsewhere, or plastic welding things to fit them, you could maybe rewire to VW ones: shop.carstyle4u.com has some cool ones (and weird ones!) and I've heard he's done custom ones for people: http://shop.carstyle4you.com/

1 pointShould have said 2.5 years on and still not going. Atleast it has an engine and gearbox in it now. Just another 2.5 to get it running Was an occasional visitor of the forum probably 2 years before I was a member but yea, he's too busy playing farm simulator instead of working on the e30. Nothing but love sanch

1 pointA lot of the rules are being broken by people who seem to miss the point, but at least we get epic cars like this entering, sure it comes 3rd to last but at least he's having a blast and taking the piss while doing it:

1 pointi buy and sell a lot of cars, so have dealt with a few dealers and for the most part, in the wellington region, ive found them to be pretty average. Pushy, rude and hang around like a bad smell. Theres only been a couple that were legitimately helpful and friendly.

1 pointBeen running it for close to 2 years in my car at the track sessions or weekend drives - haven't had any issues running it ( I only needed to get a in-line LPFP or replace the factory LPFP with a aftermarket one) to run above E40 map Love the 45HP+ and 95+Nm TQ it gives me over my 98 map

1 pointYou could easily spent more than that on a doer upper 2002. Quite a unique car !

1 pointAn oil change and resealed the cam covers, but only cause I took them off to paint. Oh and disassembled the starter and cleaned it out. Had a bit of a noise... Anyway, has about 270000 ks on and seems strong as a, um, strong thing. No idea on history of repairs though as nothing came with the car (it was only $1600). It's not the tu engine mind.

1 pointThere was one bought in NZ for the same money just a year back as well Dan, you have to be in the right place at the right time (and very, very lucky). Granted it needed a bit of work, but it was all there and solid. Rusty project cars, with the original engine, are selling for about $15k USD at the moment so it looks like I will never get to have a genuine shell so will have to convert my current car into a replica, unless the bubble bursts big time (and doesn't take me with it!). Although I could just re-mortgage the house, apparently that is going up $1,000 per month... As Graham said spotting what to buy now and keep is the knack, but buying cars as an investment is boring, the fun is in driving the damn things. Bloody speculators pushing prices up, grr!!
-
1 pointI doubt you have anything at all to be concerned about. The Champiros may not be the last word in ultimate tyre technology and performance, but they are not a bad tyre by any means.
-
1 pointOkay, so finally found the correct part number of the one I want, 61319142869. However, BMW want between $150 and $200 then shipping from Germany. But Turner or ECS have them for $80USD plus shipping. Guess ill have to order and wait

1 pointI vote M535i. It is the enthusiasts choice. They look cool, drive well, make a nice noise and are more original that the other two. The other two are just cars. At least spending money on a M535i will bring a return, the others will simply depreciate into the ground as fast as they fall apart. E34: M5 > M535i > 540IS. IMHO.
-
1 pointgo to a vacant parking lot, centralise your steering wheel. then drive ahead, turn your steering wheel full to the left and drive and then full lock to the right and drive and repeat a couple of times, then drive straight ahead for a 100 m and the light should go off
-
1 pointI picked up a 540i dirt cheap, after wrecking it i made a profit and got to keep the engine.
-
1 pointHmmmm I can see the LS1 as a good option. They are a popular engine for a reason But I've always felt they seem a little pricey on the market because of the popularity. From what I've seen a half cut package is on average $6000 for a 350hp/490nm LS1, That makes for $17.5 per HP and $12.2 per NM Where as the 3UZ V8 half cuts seem to float around $4000 for a 320hp/430nm engine, making for $12.5 per HP and $9.3 per NM On the flip side, I know Toyota engines well, what to expect with , the wiring and fueling aspects so they are an easier choice. Not the most powerful, but easier

1 pointlol................. could be done..... at this stage make sure you get some winter pictures of your BMW in the snow!
-
1 pointPersonally I would say $90k for a good condition, well maintained and looked after (as this one is) E30 M3 Evo Sport is a very, very good price even if it has the steering wheel on the "wrong" side, you won't get near any other Sport Evo for the money. Especially if you can get the original parts included as part of the deal. Easy enough to convert back to LHD, provided the original conversion has been done properly. This car would have been converted as it was brought into NZ when it was not possible to put LHD on the road. When people are asking $55k for just off the boat from Japan on a run-of-the-mill 2.3ltr that is not totally original, this stacks up very well indeed.

1 pointI seriously considered entering an E36 320i because it would be a lot of fun. Sadly the power to weight ratio would be no where near competitive with b18c Integras and 4AGE Levins. I think the BMW race series needs to introduce a new class for E36s with the same stock type rules for 2k Cup cars. 328i's out there tearing it up!
-
1 pointIMO and only my opinion, from what I saw on the track some of the drivers have proably had a bit of help getting in.. there's no way some of those cars cost $2000 or less.
-
1 pointOh yeah, and the same day I checked an old lottery ticket and found it was a winner!
