The Labour Party. Having nine years to get their policies together and 8 days from the election they still don't know what they are.

Get to Auckland airport, plane delayed Wgtn weather the issue. Watch air nz cancell flights, flying Jetstar and thinking along the lines of a Tui billboard Starus board changes and Jetstar on time eh ? You say ! Get on flight an half expecting survere turbulence , two landing attempts followed by a back to Auckland with a stiff drink to follow. Anyways...... flight goes ok, worse than usually southerly approach with plane pogoing in most directions on the approach. Pilot lands first attempt and becomes an instant hero with most of the plane erupting into cheering and applause. Cockpit door opens and pilot / co pilot cool clam and collected. Thinkng to myself...... Those men deserve a DB" Well done Jetstar !

The problem these days is that old now is 3-5 yrs or over 50k... and the repair and service costs done properly can end up costing 10- 50 % of the vehicles current market value

Election talk. Everyone suddenly has an opinion and I'm f**king sick of hearing them. Can't wait for it to just be over with. Neither party will truly ruin us. The world will not end on the 24th.

Little update. Got new headlights, decided I wanted it to look more modern so got some LED's Before: After A smoke test revealed a failed grommet in the back of the intake manifold, hopefully that is the reason it stalls when returning to idle. A scan revealed the airbag module is faulty along with the oil level sensor. Parts are on there way... Got an OEM tow bar complete with towing module from Ray. It's in, just need to extend the loom to make it to the LCM.

I think it is more of an age thing Glenn, I have always been upside down under cars for as long as I can remember but now it is seeming less and less like "fun" and more and more like pain and heartache. When you can only lean under a bonnet for a period of time before your knees and legs seize up any job starts to take a lot longer, and has to be planned out in advance to mix up the standing, sitting, leaning jobs. I must be getting old and paying for all the mis-adventures of my youth. First world problems I know, as there are many people out there who would love to have a car to work on, let alone a garage full, so I shouldn't complain too much. I will be a lot happier when the current wave of work is over and the driving can commence again thats for sure.

think he was more referring to FB likes but your missing the point. your too old to be affected as like me you have a natural cynicism and were brought up differently If you can't see it happening around you,at any restaurant, childrens playground or just shopping your blind, the way it is affecting young minds in their formative years will be completely irreversible, its quite sad swimming lessons the other night with grandson, they all swim a length, and look up, I give the thumbs up he was so desperately looking for the rest of the bench was playing angry birds or whatever, F&$king adults are arseholes, they will pay when that kid becomes a teenager and doesn't give a rats ass about them or has depression issues

A little update, still on the hunt for a carrier..... In the meantime received the remainder of my throttle body adapters thanks to Jethro @ RML engineering.. Got some stainless rivnuts to secure things around my car instead of the alloy ones which tend to not work to well, and its a nice weekend by the looks of things so might get some more things done!

I'll take it. Just so I can take it down to the Mega Meet this year, and assist anyone who's unfortunate like Huff3r last year to have their waterpump give out before leaving to go home.

That's an m5. That price isn't too crazy, it's just not representative of nz prices. The 530i here is absolutely overpriced. ?

The E60 M5 does nothing for me. The E61 M5 on the other hand... If only there was a touring E39 M5.

Prangs on the bumper take ages to rebuild a nice smooth curve, what a nightmare ! On closer inspection the person who did the paint job on the car before I got it must have done a sh*t job, paint is peeling crowe footing it everywhere. It begun as just bumper and C panel now progressing towards + bonet and boot / rear end of the car. Might as well do the whole car!

I will PM you the contact details. I think he has little to none online presence (obviously not a millennial ), and I think all of his private work comes via WoM. An alternative is Kohls in Tawa. Although I didn't go with them, when I saw them they were knowledgeable, friendly and quoted good prices for everything. From memory to just repair the drivers seat was between $350-$400. They are a family business with everyone involved which I think is pretty awesome, Thanks Olaf! That's the guys who did the re-colour! (I couldn't remember who he uses). The repairer said he uses no-one else as they do quality work, use quality products and don't cut corners .

Thanks Kevin. I'm not missing the point. And, he was in fact mentioning TXT - and then followed on to advance his argument to encompass social media including Facebook. He did not specify that dopamine hits were the preserve of a young generation only; he used 'we'. I took this to include 'us'; human beings. I'm having a little trouble with your grammar; in your third para I'm unsure if you're suggesting that what you observe is sad, or that my aparrent inability to observe this social phenomena is sad. You could clarify if you felt like it; though I can't promise you likes or even a text.

Yup 5 weeks in. Still early days but there's always a reason in my head not to have one as 20 years is a pretty decent smoking career. To keep 'busy' i finally finished an old kitset model I had stored away.

It turned out our E46 was one of the ones that has both the drivers and passengers bag affected, so they were both swapped over, covers replaced and car was given a very good clean inside and out. They even pointed out a couple of issues that needed attention which was a bonus as I had missed them during the last service. All free of charge, on an imported car, and no special treatment for me as it was all done by my wife. So, to keep on like a broken record, if you are in doubt contact your local dealer with your chassis number and they will be able to let you know, and book you in as soon as they can, part availability permitting. The latest update I have heard is that there has just been a new list of over 2 and half MILLION additional BMW vehicles affected released from Munich, which has been filtered and sent to the NZTA to see which of those are in New Zealand and find the owners details, so there will be another round of letters sent out very shortly.

Just watched the video. Yep, he's on-message with a view that has been circulating for years. What? I get a dopamine hit when you get a text? Oh f%#k off. I'm a gen-X er, I'm happy having the technology marvel that is SMS (which I started using in '98) and these days my smart phone... but the notion of needing txt hits? Pah.

Looks superb. And hey, the most important part of ///M sport can be retrofitted; the suspension. So if you are servicing the suspension at 160k, you get your springs and ARBs from Brent or Ray, buy your new bushes and, ///M sport shocks to suit, bingo. Happy wafting! Im on "my first V8" and loving it, despite (around town) it's like going out with that girlfriend you used to have that can't pass a bar without going in.

What unicorn boxes does it tick? Because to me non msport e39's on standard wheels are a bit too pedestrian.
  44. 1 point
Yup. A particularly sore point with me, too. What's worse, the people who do this generally pay less for a good car than other people end up paying for a rougher example.

776 days smoke free for me (I have an app for that!) and lovin' it. So, just over two years. I've saved about $13,975 (at the old price of ~$20 per pack) which is a real bonus. I love every minute of being smoke free and have no desire or temptation to ever smoke again. I feel guilty if I wake up having dreamed about smoking but also relieved that is was only a dream. Food tastes better, beer tastes better! And nowadays with the level of social isolation expected of smokers it's great that I don't have to leave a social setting just to go and have a cigarette. Can't believe it took me over 20 years to decide to kick the damn habit. There's noting at all good about smoking but i couldn't see that (through the smoke) when I was a smoker. I can assure people that you don't need cigarettes to cure boredom, do something with your hands or relieve stress - they're just excuses to avoid the effort of quitting.

Dyno run done. 195kw (261hp) at the wheels and 243kw (325hp) calculated at the flywheel, using standard M60B40 DME/tune. Factory stated figures are 210kw / 286 hp at the flywheel. Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4_XDV8JTU0&feature=youtu.be

She's back on the road. Had a few small issues today while getting it going. The rear calipers that I put on from the e34 were actually seized so I had to swap the e28 ones back on. While not a big deal, it's something I want to get sorted so will look for other e34 ones later. Might be luck to get some vented ones. Other than that, everything was pretty straight forward. I had to make a temporary bracket for the accelerator cable as the e34 sleeve is not quite right so didn't reach with the factory mount. So I will try to find a cable that does work. Next jobs will be tidying up the wiring and finishing that off and wiring the fan in. Also need to install my new cluster. Also going to order a new heater core and redo flaps as I currently get no hot air. Does anyone know if they are RHD and LHD specific? Can't find any information on this. Overall I am very happy with it, goes so much better then the eta ever dreamed of. It has a slight miss and a bit of a bog on take off, I think this motor needs a proper service such as new plugs etc. But even with this it goes very well. And does mean as burnouts. And that concludes this weeks episode: How to do an M30 swap in 2 weeks (and a day if you want to be picky). Up next: Conclusion is an illusion; nothing's ever 100% finished. Also might have a special live appearance from Highway Patrol. They grow up so fast.
