I still think we should try and artificially bump the prices by listing all of ours around 15K.

"There's no cars that we cannot fix here" and "our technicians here are very experienced and has done cars like yours since they were brand new' - Chch BMW service manager "Let's try replacing this and see if it will fix the issue but we're not sure" Chch BMW service department foreman In the end it was just a fuse ??‍♂️??‍♂️ I'm going in tomorrow and gonna have a 'coffee' with them ?

But did they say 'cash' or even more valuable - 'cash today.' As If everyone one else was trading in potatoes

Its rubbish its off the road, they should've been able to patch it back up until the parts arrive. Cant imagine its more than a couple of retainers that have broken? Heck, can probably clip it all back in place as it is now.

    But a fuse? That's pretty shocking. ?

It's been a while since I've owned a BMW, been in company cars for a while with a urs6 and mgbgt to play with. Anyway picked this up a while back and have been returning her to spec- hence my advert seeking standard hellrot wing mirrors and an Alpina rear spoiler instead of the m3 items. She is a 3.2 Switchtronic, which is basically a tuned 5 speed zf auto with buttons on back of the steering wheel, Effectively always driving in sport mode, then using the 's' position as manual mode(normal s function is not available)

At the moment when you first drive the car the brakes seem very hard to use like you really need to stand on the brake pedal to stop the car? Sometimes after a bit of driving 'normal service' resumes. Any ideas on what could be the issue? does need new pads in the next 5000kms.

Hi all, Desperate times calls for desperate measure -reaching out to see if anyone can help out. I'm needing a 2nd hand ABS module part number: #34516756340 for an e39 525i 2001. VIN # WBADS42000BZ40641 Or if I can get mine refurbished. Auckland City BMW quoted a "bank loan" for a new one. Technician said was faulty module but those dont come one their own through their supplier. So hence seeing if you anyone has the above part and can also re-code. Car failed WOF because of it so have another 2 weeks to rectify. Thanks

IMO the ride height is very good. And will over time to the balanced lower look you are seeking. Nothing like the crackle of a supersprint?

Don't let the engine eat a fan belt. ? These engines do require a bit of maintence, and there are a few things that can go wrong and cause some big headaches, but they are very rewarding cars if looked after imo. If you want more power (ECU tunning), MHD tuning is a great cost effective solution and its an app on your phone. As @monkeygod11 mentioned you can get near 400 hp with a few mods which is approaching M3 power..

Hi Seba, i see you're based in Wellington and not far from me. if you need specific coding or a tune, keys etc (stage 1) happy to help. also have diagnostics tools

I've gone from 241hp at the wheels to 343hp at the wheels with catless downpipes and a dyno tune, everything else still stock. With a new intake and upgraded intercooler would be looking at 380hp-400hp at the wheels. So easy to get big gains out of the N54, just make sure the engine is healthy by doing all the maintenance on time and correctly.

Lot of knowledge here regards N54, great satisfaction to drive when maintained. Large performance gain capacity with this motor, great chassis, just needs well spent $.

As someone who's been watching 130i prices closely for the last two years they're definitely on the way up again, looking at trademe prices today reminds me of when I first started looking at them. Most average stock ones around 9k-10k. The odd outliers but generally consistent. Last year they definitely fell down a grand or two, so a bit cheaper, and then covid came with a flurry of cars and that extra supply and price competition kept the prices down. I'd say most of the cheaper ones have now been sold. Doubt you'd get a manual 130i that's been well looked after or with mods for less than 10k now.

The fuse I'd be blowing would be a non-stock item and on back order in Germany.

So I decided to install an aftermarket stereo because reasons, and I thought " I'll make this easy on myself and just get a fitting kit", that arrived today and I had a look and decided I don't want to use it, it means the flappy lid just sits up in the dash chilling, and all the space around the head unit is wasted, and I want to put a boost gauge there, so I have decided to make it amazingly more complicated... Step one, some light dismantling, with the angle grinder... Step 2, relocate the part of the frame that holds the stereo and weld it back on, it will sit further back into the dash and be angled very slightly uphill and toward the driver... Step 3, think to myself " that was a bit sh1t to weld" pick up the bracket, watch it break in half, check the casting, realize it is Magnesium alloy, start again....

They should, checking the stamped VIN/Chassis number is part of a WOF. They would also know by being blinded when they try to check the beam pattern.

The one on TM with BBS CHR's and KW coilovers really tickles my fancy.

I was watching that and thinking if I could get past the 4 doors.... it's gone back up in price again now. I mean, if you can't shift it at 24k, why not try at 30k?

You can just about see the "standard" spoiler and tailpipes in that second photo, also in this render from the web-site.. Not quite as "out there" as the M Performance spoiler and exhaust.

After sitting in my basement for 2 months, got my Supersprint backbox installed yesterday. Looks great, sounds good, a subtle volume upgrade TBH (compared to stock plus golf tee mod) but feels like it has less drone / boominess and a nicer tone and very subtle burble on deceleration. My intake is pretty loud but now feels reasonably balanced between induction / exhaust now. Will drive it a week or so and see how I feel and whether or not I go ahead and delete the secondary cats or resonator for a little more volume / scream up top.

you're lucky they didn't scour through parts finder and decide to write it off.

What's a proper shoe worth? $55k? Aside from the body shape, it's an auto M52, LHD surely not near $35k even if it was all registered?

A lot of dealerships these days are just parts fitters, not mechanics. Its almost becoming a lost art to diagnose and fix issues that arent by the book or having the answer given to you by a computer.

    Bimmersport nails it. ?
  38. 1 point
Absolutely, and I'd also be getting your story spread as much as possible. The sheer incompetence shown by the dealership is jaw dropping.

Wow!!! Good that it's fixed now but I'd be going back into BMW and demanding some of my money back. That is completely f#$%@d that they missed that!!

Seems crazy price for a uncomplied example but that being said its still a dream of mine and I suppose its. Probably not far off what it would cost to Import.

And manual, but it looks like it's not being made for RHD, just like the Giulia.
