Made a spray booth in the workshop, when will I learn not to do all in-house!! Anyway, extraction and heated... Alpine White. Have a design for the rollcage. Quick patchup on rear guards. Will spray the exterior after the cert. Much more tidy platform to start on. Getting pipes and plates ready for mounting on the rotisserie.

Got the new coilovers installed without reaching the 3 month mark of looking at them in their box !! Will need new front sway bar end links but otherwise went very smoothly. Still have a little more lowering available if I want, but drives very nicely as it is.

A couple of months ago I jumped at a chance opportunity to catch up with Nathan from “Those Car Dudes” on YouTube. It was a perfect summers evening in New Plymouth for a spontaneous photoshoot, the results were unreal!

@KwS ironically when they're going to spend several tens of millions to remove one set of traffic lights further down SH2 (Melling) - which I am in favour of. JFC NZTA are terrible. The public service cull should've started with them So much this.

Hi, I have been lucky enought o own a fair few interesting cars over the past 42 years. In the BMW departement I have owned and enjoyed the following in this sort of order. 1997 740i, 1995 Black M3 coupe (with towbar if its stll around ...first intro to clutch and DMFW home replacement job) E34 525i in baby silver blue, 530i x 2, E46 M3 SMG, E46 325i MS, 750il Silver,2001 740i, 545i, 130i MS, Parents years ago had a 323i coupe in violet and a E34 520i . Currently swing back to Italian cars old Alfas 916 x 2 a Busso V6 and 2.0 Ts spider and two Maseratis which I adore and have done plenty of mile in both with BMW terminology SMG (Duoselect and Cambio Corsa) Looking for a clean M3 M5 M6 that is interesting (probably the V10 but maybe a F10.) Been doing my research around the upkeep and there is plenty of good stuff out there to help. Raining all day yesterday here in Auckland so caught up on M539 Restoration youtube whcih if you havent seen is very infomative. Owned plenty of other cars along the way and a few Ducatis. Looking forward to being part of the BMW community again!

So the end result of this is that the car now has a new correctly installed OE Pilkington screen courtesy of CCBMW after S+S had put 2 new aftermarket screens in, awful whistling above 50kph with both. I swear the inside vehicle SPL is about 10dB less with the OE screen. Very happy

After a 2 year hiatus due to family things it was a mad 3 month scramble to get the drift e36 back together with the new gen4 6.0, ecu, wiring, gbox, clutch, exhaust etc etc. Had a few teething issues with the new cam/valve springs and cooling system but managed to get it up and running the day we need to head off for two days of drifting 😰 so loaded up and hoped for the best... and we got it, two days full noise and not a single issue, couldn't believe it lol. Now its time to dial in more rear grip (running a 265/35/18) and find a good solution to upgrade the rearend - diff/axles

231495km Few things ticked off the list this week. Power Steering pump replaced with a LUK second hand one. New sender hose, managed to snap the plastic clip on the radiator return hose trying to get the cable tie off the reservoir end, turns out the reservoir end was welded onto the reservoir anyway so will swap reservoir out for new one when this new hose arrives in a week. Interesting BMW wanted $850 for this hose.....$100 delivered via Spareto (1 week). Euro Italia were out of stock. I have made a ghetto fix in the meantime so i can keep using the car...hopefully it holds. Steering is feeling better but could also be placebo....nothing obviously wrong with the old pump which i have a receipt for in 2019 (3rd party no brand). Also replaced the little bushings that had perished that hold the hoses to the rack. 02 Pilot mod Nice and straight forward, didn't break any nipples....have just topped up the oil so will know after the next 2000km if its making any difference. O rings Not sure what this is called but I new i had left over Orings from the pcv overhaul when i first got the car and never new where they went until I saw Jon's post working on @Olafs car realised i had never taken this part off the intake. Most of the old O rings snapped trying to get them off. Expansion tank + Thermostat The one that really didn't want to come out was stamped 2013 so it had obviously been done at some point but still 10 years old so no harm in putting in a newer one. The thermostat below it also snapped in half but thanks to the internet i expected that and had a new one ready to go. I also RTV'd the thermostat housing while it had no coolant in it as it was dripping. It's an FCP one so if it keeps leaking ill do a warranty claim. I also got a cheap DA from super cheap a while back and did a first attempt at cut and polishing...Think I went a bit conservative on the cut, as it still has plenty of scratches but it did go quite shiney. Reverse camera is working out really awesome....esp when people park like this... My rear glass hatch keeps randomly opening. I've replaced the switch before so wondering if it's more likely to be in the loom somewhere. Still have soft brake lines and trailing arm bushings to do but that will have to wait for another time ( @Spinner99 do you still have the bushing tools?)

2008 335i NZ New 130,000 km approx $15900 location Marton , Rangitikei 021651591 For sale is our meticulously maintained 335i Convertible, a New Zealand New Motorsport edition. This vehicle has only covered a low 130,000kms and comes with a VTNZ warrant and registration. This car has undergone extensive mechanical refurbishment and maintenance to ensure it's in top-notch condition. Both of the turbo cores have been overhauled, and the inlets have been walnut media blasted for optimal performance. A new rocker cover has been installed, and the PCV system has been modified, including the runners blanked to prevent typical N54 issues of oiling up inlets. To ensure the best possible performance, we've installed twin catch cans for both high and low sides. The transmission has been thoroughly serviced - the mechatronic unit has been removed, new case and bridge seals have been fitted, and a new pan has been installed. Also performed a full power flush with genuine ZF oil. The engine has been given a thorough inspection, with all Cam ledges removed and checked. Cam ledge seals have been upgraded, from the steel styled, to the superseded PTFE OEM BMW replacements to prevent ledge wear. All 24 valve guide seals have been replaced to ensure piece of mind . During our ownership, we've also fitted new Hankook Tyres and installed a new battery Various coolant pipes, power steer pulley and tensioner Its also worth noting this car has already been modified with Catless downpipes and Coby muffler system. This 335i Convertible is the hardtop type Convertible as opposed to the conventional rag top and it's water tight. I've extensively photographed the repairs done to this vehicle and they are available for the new owner, There is no money owing on this vehicle and a vehicle check has been provided in the Auction. To clarify the previous owner didn't keep the registration current, and the plates lapsed and subsequently has had it re-registered. A factory recall is up-to-date that has been completed by BMW .We are currently using the vehicle over summer and the mileage may increase slightly.

There’s a kit on Spareto with conversion to single mass as well. Valeo, €442.
  19. 1 point
The dual mass flywheels can't be machine reliably. And they are expensive to replace. But the guys a few pages back said it is the most comfortable. The single mass flywheels are much cheaper and have more of a sporty feel to it. But you can suffer from vibration etc. The clutch kits themselves don't matter too much. All three brands are well known and good.

I need to stop using my nla Alpina mats; does anyone have some nice E36 fitment mats that I could buy? Sedan, but probably same as coupe for front. Perhaps other generation 3 series mats may fit too. I'm in Auckland.

I meant inner door handle. You can get away without removing the outer one to install the locking mechanism although some may find it easier. As long as you can get into the car you can remove the door card with the door closed and go from there (may result in some damage to it)

I've got them on full soft and they're probably little firmer than the OEM M-Sport setup I think ... still street friendly enough for Auckland roads and no doubt really come alive out of the city. I see MCA have got the Pro Street model on their website now which they said was just about to drop. Would offer a better range of comfort (actually adjusting out of the full soft I am on) but is not designed for as much drop. The level I am at would likely be maximum low on the Pro Street's. Car certainly feels sharper with them installed ... can't really say more than that until the new sway bar end links arrive and i can reconnect that 😆

Hi @Olaf yes i have had a talk with my engineer and he said it is very much doable. Just need to take some pictures of the e12 underbody and come up with a game plan with him. I haven't started a project page just yet, once I get it started i will indeed document it all. @Neil McCauley Thanks heaps this is pretty much what I was looking for, Chances are either e46 or e90 at this stage just depends what the certifier says and how much work to make either setup fit. But thanks for the site and pictures they help out heaps.

Hello everyone, Good to be on the forum. I signed up because I'm in the market for F20 M135i. If anyone happens to have one or know someone who does, I would greatly appreciate a referral. Thanks guys!

I'm not a suspension guru... looks like e46 is good for ~300hp, e60 M5 good for ~550hp. I'd guess there's measurements involved... and (before you're cutting any steel) engaging with your certifier to run your design outline by them, determine what threy'll want to see as you progress. Got pics, or a project page? I'll subscribe, sounds like a really interesting build. Yeeehah!

Mine lives on the centre line unless I give it some jandal and it swings a few mm to the hot side, my thermostat and alternator voltage regulator have both been done and I am running the BMW shell oil. Usually only takes about 10 minutes to get to temp, and I have never seen it dip below the centre line while running.

Fair point, there was a few years gap between ownership of the 6cyl and v8, so a little difficult to make a comparison. As mentioned, the v8 would be my pick if the bulk of your driving is open road stuff and/or if it’s a “Sunday driver” car. This is what I use mine as and I think it suits the application well. Stick with the 6cyl if it’s a daily driver IMO.

Fair enough, if have to pay someone to install it probably makes more sense. I always inspect them and replace the brushes etc if needed. Remanufactured\rebuilt is such a broad term that you dont really know what you are truly getting for your money, same with alternators.

Got my white one which I need to now sell, I'm seeing a wide range of pricing but what's a fair price for a 2006 white manual 130i with 220k on the clock? It's in good running condition with no oil leaks etc.

Just because it's dealer serviced doesn't mean anything if the owner declines to follow the recommendations. Usually once it's out of warranty, customers don't really seem to care

Nothing really wrong with the car, but I already booked at Powerhaus because of the misfire. I was able to fix the misfire myself, since it takes a long time to queue in Powerhaus I decided to keep the booking. I still had some stash of parts that are just gathering dust for years. Finally replaced all 10 fuel injectors, thermostat and got fresh brake fluid. If anyone needs working injectors or thermostat (69k km mileage only) I can send them to you. DM me, I might keep 2 injectors just for quick diagnostics in the future. A few more parts still waiting to be used: upgraded throttle actuator gears and mosfet, fuel pump/filter… Got new keys cut by @promo yay! Finally no more crappy weak remote range because of old sealed batteries.

230xxxkm New headunit Xtrons IA8246BLHS after consulting with @Karter16 I pulled the trigger on an Xtrons unit. I went for a lower spec as I only intend on running CarPlay and a reverse camera so not sure I need 8gigs of ram…but let’s see. Not sure what the difference is between the IA8246BLHS vs IA8246BLH but it was cheaper so I rolled with it. Landed in a few days and at the same time so did the HVAC relocation bracket from @Vass (along with a couple of other goodies, thanks!) Pretty sweet install, but a bit of a jungle of loom back there, have fabric wrapped the loose connectors for now but will be back into connect up reverse camera and route the USB’s through the Center console maybe. Also as Karter pointed out I need to file down the top of the bracket which is currently making it look a little squeezed. car came with an FM transmitter which worked ok but I found my self trying to change songs etc while I was driving which is naughty. Now I’m left with an adhesive circle which I fear will rip the gray painted dash off if I try remove it so might just leave it, the steering wheel hides it from the drives position anyway.

How odd. Looking at the official S7 brochure, this seems to be missing a lot of stuff that a "full blown" one would have. No ACS wheels, roof spoiler, steering wheel, pedals, strut brace, and ACS stripe decals. In fact, other than the front/rear skirts, exhaust, mirrors and badges..... what makes it an ACS model? Understandably we cant see the suspension or engine mods though. It looks like a tidy MSport E38 with some off the shelf bits thrown on it.
